I agree it’s a bad look. But Dowdy Sr. is not wrong in his concerns. He has put a lot of people in prison who might want to take it out on his son with the same name. Not saying he should be a trusty somewhere. But kept in a county jail seems warranted.

Not so. There is a reason you don't hear about cops getting killed in prison around here. The authorities are not stupid. They have protocols for dealing with touch prisoners.

Prisons have PCUs, Protective Custody Units.

When you get busted and if convicted, at sentencing tell the court that you want the "Dowdy deal."

The reason grown ups shouldn’t be allowed to do drugs is because the affect drugs has on a person causes said person to do stupid shit that could cause great harm to other people and property. Even grown people’s ability to make good decisions, is severely diminished, when taking certain drugs.

The Declaration of Independence guarantees us the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In a truly free society, you also have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of misery. Stay out of my life you Commie.

Oh, come on now. The poor young lad comes from the prim and proper world of dope dealing, a vocation that has the highest standards of workplace safety, courtesy, and decorum. Why, it is a veritable Marquess of Queensbury rules occupation. And you cold, callous, and just plain ol' mean people would put him prison with actual criminals who might injure him? Lazy assed judges that love postponing cases via continuances and helping out their pail lawyers, especially when they rule a defendant’s prior habitual record of violence being admitted “wouldn’t be fair to the thug” (they care not about the next victim);
Overzealous idiot prosecutors that only want convictions furthering their careers and end up putting innocent people behind bars;
Defense attorneys that will help make up any lie possible to get their violent criminal clients back onto the streets to harm more innocents;
Parole boards that turn violent criminals loose early to go harm more of the vulnerable including girls and children;
Jurors selected for the sole purpose of ignorance and persuadability;
The revolving door catch & release system of putting violent criminals back on the streets to cause more harm by Democrat cities like Jackson that use this as a tactic to keep control of the city forever (much to the thanks of the last white mayor, white liberal Democrat Kane Ditto’s hiring of DC Police Chief Jimmy Wilson 3 decades ago).
The list could go on and on and on so this menace to society Trey John Dowdy, III (that would make the world a much better place if he would just check himself out) is one just more example of the crooked foxes tending the chicken coop.

But your jaded view of the criminal justice system, and those who work in it, is not reality. Most people are trying to do a good job.

Are there exceptions? Of course. But they do not represent the entirety of the criminal justice system.

That said, we should never import anyone from Louisiana to run our Department of Corrections.

Only a ____ing lawyer could defend a system that puts violent criminals back onto the streets that ends up murdering someone’s child (someone else’s child, of course), all because he/she lines his pockets with that system.

This is why folks like Crump and Sharpton don't trust any law enforcement agency or judges in Mississippi.

If your Dad puts people in prison for a living, you can just commit crimes and not go to prison because you might be a target? You just get jail...at most?
I could argue this kid had more opportunities in life than most and therefore deserves to be sent to prison to deal with the consequences more than someone born into poverty and poor home life.
