$8 million. That amount is what Garrett Michael Thompson will have to pay to get out of jail after JPD charged him with sexual battery and enticing a child.
JPD arrested Thompson Tuesday for allegedly molesting a 14 year-old girl. Thompson is 20 years old. The defendant was charged with three counts of sexual battery and one count of enticing a child.
Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeff Reynolds laid down the law on the accused child molester, setting bond at $2 million for each count. Judge Reynolds barred Thompson from having any contact with persons under the age of 18 years old.
As expected, the miscreant is no stranger to the criminal justice system. He has misdemeanor arrests for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer when he tried to take his weapon.
Thompson is known up in Rankin County as well. The grand jury indicted Thompson for grand larceny in December 2024. The defendant entered a pre-trial intervention program in April 2025. Rankin County Circuit Judge Steve Ratcliff was supposed to hold a hearing on his progress in the program Tuesday.

In 'On the Beach', there were nice little white pills people were taking, when the radiation poisoning became unbearable. Then they neatly died. Why can't we have those? I don't believe that woodchippers or other tortures are the answer, except for the institutional mass murderers of the sort who emerged around 2020.
For ordinary, everyday, broken-beyond-repair folk, why aren't there nice little pills?
So, why did this chap end up so problematic? High-carb/low-fat diet, featureeen "heart-healthy" breakfast cereals with "Scaaam Maaaaalk" (as the grocery store recordings pronounce 'Skimmed Milk', in-between obnoxious songs of the '70s)? 71 vaccine injections before he was 12? Cannabis? Psych meds?
What sort of preschool kennels was the boy placed in? Was he sent to public schools? Were there psych/drug interventions which did more harm than good? What was his substance status, at the time of his transgression(s).
Did malnutrition limit his brain development, as well as his height?
Did his small stature lead to bullying, which led to his whole constellation of bad behaviors?
