Hinds County District Attorney Bradley McCullough issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Brad McCullouch announced today that Jeremy Ware, 37, was found guilty of First-Degree Murder in connection of the strangulation death of 36-year-old Dennis Watson. Investigation revealed that Mr. Watson and Ware became involved in a physical altercation stemming from a dispute over $4. A witness reported that Ware choked Mr. Watson until he lost consciousness before fleeing the area. Ware later returned to the scene of the crime and joined the crowd gathered around Mr. Watson. Officers identified Ware and immediately detained him at the scene.![]() |
| Duuuuh, which way did he go? |
Ware was found guilty of First-Degree Murder. Judge Damon Stevenson sentenced him to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. “A disagreement should never have ended with Dennis Watson losing his life,” said Hinds County District Attorney Brad McCullouch. “No dispute, especially one over $4, justifies violence. The defendant’s actions caused an irreversible loss, and this verdict ensures that he is held accountable. We hope this outcome provides some measure of justice and closure to Mr. Watson’s loved ones.” “Assistant District Attorneys Seqouia Smith and David Linzey demonstrated exceptional skill and resolve throughout this prosecution,” McCullouch said. “Their preparation, persistence and dedication ensured the facts were presented clearly and that the jury understood the full weight of the evidence. Their work was instrumental in securing this verdict and holding the defendant accountable for taking Dennis Watson’s life.”

When is the last time a new prison was built? Isn’t more space needed?
I hope he nose that it wasn't worth it.
What a frightening creature he is. Looks like the guy that stabbed the young Ukrainian girl on the subway last year.
Thank you, DA McCullough and Judge Stevenson! Now, let's get that same sentence for the >thousand other killers in Hinds County over the past ten years!
Let’s hope the appointment of this person as DA was valid. Going to be an issue on appeal, you know. If the appointment was invalid, there’s going to be an issue about the authority of prosecution to prosecute. The authority of the assistant district attorneys is no greater than the DA. It might be a wise thing for the circuit judges to appoint prosecuting attorneys in this district on a case by case basis until the question is sorted out or a new DA is elected in November
I have a Kachina doll from New Mexico with a face just like that.
Was Watson strangled or uglied to death.
I'd bet $4.00 that this guy + his victim didn't have the total IQ of a single brick.
8:49, if we run out of room the perfect solution would be to send guys like this to El Salvador; they’ve got a pretty successful prison operation going down there now.
That sentence is best for us and for him.
Seems nice
Oh 8:51, he nose... he nose.
My cousin used to say,” He fell out of an Ugly Tree, and hit every limb on the way down!”
@10:13... if you REALLY think that the Mississippi courts are going to invalidate all convictions that occur under the new DA, you are a special kind of dumb.
Last I heard it was illegal for McCullough to serve as Hinds County D.A. since he doesn't live in Hinds County. Does that make this sentence null and void? If not, why not.
I reckon I might be that special kind of dumb too. Please explain why, if this D.A. cannot serve in a district unless he lives there, he can prosecute a case while being unable to serve. You have the floor now, Genius.
Yes, he got what he deserved and he needs to be kept behind bars. But let’s not make fun of him. He is a child of God, and his life was not easy… most of us got a better ticket in the lottery of life.
I agree with 4:41. Why would anybody be upset over this appointment? From all the reports, this new DA has a ton of experience as a prosecutor himself and the old one had none. It sounds like this new DA is great fit who can start fixing the broken system that Hinds County is. You people arguing against the appointment must have wanted the appointment yourself or something...
There’s this document called the Mississippi Constitution. It’s actually quite important.
So if say, a hinds county resident got appointed Madison rankin DA, yall would all support?
