Sometimes we forget America is the beautiful as visiting World Cup soccer fans have reminded us thanks to the power of social media.
There are always going to be a few spoilsports.
Seriously?

I'm convinced Democrats and the Liberal Left absolutely despise for America do be great. They hate the USA. Seeing all of the foreigners visiting the USA for the World Cup was great.
The Politico article titled “Democrats grapple uncomfortably with World Cup success” lists examples of Democrats praising the World Cup’s success. Mr. Wren’s main issue seems to be that they aren’t “praising the authorities who put on the event”, and then he gives an example of a Philadelphia Democrat doing exactly that. How…. Interesting.
This is great but can we discuss the Supreme Court ending our country a few days before our 250th birthday? Basically, they told us that we don't get to have a country and these borders are just for defining tax zones.
Because they're losers in their own lives.
America the modern version of Ancient Rome
Beijing Olympics had the same effect for China.
Calm down, 1:16, SCOTUS just interpreted the law as written. It’s up to Congress to take action so that rules catch up to current conditions. If they don’t, then yes we are screwed, but it will be on Congress, not SCOTUS.
Do you mean the Supreme Court upholding centuries of legal precedent that we inherited from the British legal system, the larger context of the Fourteenth Amendment as debated in Congress, not to mention what has been interpreted as the meaning of said amendment since it was ratified? Furthermore, even though he did dissent, Justice Gorsuch did suggest in the closing paragraph of his opinion that there may be parts of the executive order that did clash with the law as written. This conservative is proud that the Supreme Court has preserved and conserved the rule of law in this case just in time for our 250th birthday. And on the contrary, if the Executive can run roughshod over our laws, then that will be the ending of our country. Happy 250, here is to 250 more!
I'm not really sure what they're trying to say here? I'm guessing the Trump administration had little to nothing to do with host cities prepping for or administering the World Cup, and the vast majority of cities who are hosting are run by democratic administrations. Why can't success just be good for the country without the political posturing.
Thank you 1:50 pm, well said. I was headed that way, although probably not as eloquently as you did it, when I ran upon your response.
These fools that think everything they read on TS or hear out of his mouth is an absolute fail to realize that true conservatives are supporters of the rule of law, not of man. Whether one "likes" birthright citizenship in today's world is not the question. If it should be changed the proper way is for Congress to address it through an Amendment to our sacred 250 year old constitution. Not for a court to do so. We have railed against activist judges who have tried to write the laws rather than read them, but now when we have judges who perform their function properly, some are railing against them because they won't rewrite the law from the bench.
As a good, lifelong conservative, I support Justice Scalia's comments that any judge who always likes his opinions is not making good decisions.
Justice Kavanaugh's concurrence is the roadmap for Congress to follow
Oh please. It was always going to be a tough case to win. The language in the amendment is pretty plain. Yes, we all know why it was written but what matters is the plain language, which is pretty unambiguous. Congress can fix some of the problem. Government can still ban illegal immigration and deport.
While Burke clung to tradition he was not belligerent to change. Burke opposed aliens and sought cautious naturalization.
I truly doubt those who debated and voted upon the 14th amendment remotely foresaw the rampant abuse and outright corruption of birthright citizenship as we've experienced over the past 50+ years.
Enjoy your tradition even when it produces our national undoing.
