JPD issued the following statement.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 12:38 a.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department responded a shooting in the 2900 block of Forrest Avenue where a Trail Ride Event was being held. The shooting resulted in the death of 18-year-old Joidan Worthy and injuries of five other victims.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, following an extensive investigation by the JPD
Robbery/Homicide Unit Detectives, 18-year-old Amarien Carmichael was arrested on
the charges of Murder(1ct) and Aggravated Assault (5cts). Carmichael was booked
into city holding and will soon appear in Municipal Court for his Initial Appearance.

All these 14-19 year olds committing these murders. Where are parents & schools & churches?
These young idiots have semi-automatic and automatic weapons and shoot them randomly. They might hit anybody in the general area whether they were aiming to or not. If they are not disarmed they will kill.
At 18 they may have thrown his derelict ass out of the house and said "good riddance."
