Todd Mardis just won't take no for an answer as he tries to get out of prison. Mardis pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic violence after he beat his wife to a pulp in 2022.
Flowood police arrested Mardis for aggravated domestic violence on October 7, 2022 after he allegedly beat his wife on October 4. Mrs. Mardis suffered a lacerated liver, fractured wrist, fractured cheekbone, fractured ankle, two broken ribs, strangulation marks, widespread bruising, and patches of hair torn completely from her scalp. A home security camera showed him dragging an unconscious Kim Mardis by her hair across the driveway and through the flower beds into the home. He did not take her to the hospital that night but instead flew to Tampa with another woman the next morning. He was arrested at the Jackson airport when he returned.
The District Attorney said it was the worst domestic violence case he ever saw (short of murder).
Speaking deliberately to the courtroom, he said "I have reviewed the evidence. I have reviewed the video. I reviewed the video for close to ten minutes. I've seen Mr. Mardis viciously beat his wife, I've seen him slap, choke, kick, and throw her to the ground. Mrs. Mardis was nude by the end of the video because the clothes had been beaten off of her. "
The judge continued: "There was no video of the trip to the house but it appears she was totally unconscious when Mardis pulled her from the truck. It goes without saying it's not your fault you're not here on a murder charge, it's that egregious. She had a broken cheekbone, broken ribs, broken ankle, lacerated liver, and extensive bruising all over her body." He noted her injuries were so bad that St. Dominic Hospital transferred her to a trauma level unit at UMMC for better treatment.
Judge Ratcliff ordered Mardis to serve 20 years in prison but suspended three years of the sentence. He will serve a probation term of five years upon release. He will be eligible for early release or parole after serving 50% of the 17-year prison sentence.
The Court gave the defendant credit for time served in jail Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow revoked Mardis' bond after he got violating a no-contact order with his wife. Earlier post. Mardis was incarcerated for ten months when sentenced.
Mardis began trying to free himself this year as he filed a petition for post-conviction relief in Rankin County Circuit Court in January. The petition argues the sentence was "disproportionate" to sentences for similar convictions in the Twentieth Judicial District (Rankin and Madison counties).*
Judge Ratcliff said "nice try" and denied the petition but as stated earlier, Mardis wasn't taking no for an answer and filed a notice of appeal with the Mississippi Court of Appeals on April 22.
No briefs have yet been filed.
Kingfish note: It will be a shocker if the Court does anything about affirm the sentencing.
* Mardis cited the Frank Strickland case. Strickland pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2023. Mardis argues:
The Strickland case demonstrates imposition, by the Court, of a sentence ofonly nine (9) years to serve.for the same crime for which Petitioner wassentenced, for conduct more severe .than in Petitioner's case.

5 more years, Todd.
If they let him out this time he will kill her!
He just wants to get out to see his wife...and beat her to a pulp.
Shoulda thought about that when you were dragging her unconscious across the yard by her hair, big boy.
He had a chance to help himself. But still sure that he was in control, he would only agree to go to a spa in Houston, then engaged in witness tampering (allegedly) to try to get himself off the hook.
Y’all are all so sick kicking this man while down and cheering on his family’s troubles. Not all men in prison deserve to be there. God is the true judge of men, not the courts. God will judge yall.
Who's representing him?
Methinks that 'roid man may have anger issues.
Odds are that he will kill her if he were to get out now. Still may when he gets out in 5.
Let him out so we can get at him.
SOP for convicts with a lot of time on their hands. More to follow. All equally unsuccessful.
12:31 - Man judges action. God judges the heart. His actions put him where he is. The biggest crime is that he didn't go there sooner.
John Colette represented him during his guilty plea and in his post-conviction proceedings.
Does he want a redo on the Mardois US Tax Court proceedings too?
A fool.
He wants to resume providing financial services and investment products to doctors and other professionals.
12:31, when my judgment day comes, there may be some explaining to do, but it will never be for beating a woman like this POS.
You must be a friend of his
No question, Mardis is a tough guy. He is capable of hurting people. I wouldn't bring a knife to a fist fight with the guy. I'd go with something heavier.
It's always amazing how people are so rough and tough until they get to prison, and then all of the sudden they will do almost anything to get out. Too bad Mardis. You earned this stay in the pokey.
One thing he had probably figured out. It’s different when faced with men tougher than you think you are.
Todd, you have internet access?
Troll alert.
Come on Todd, be the tuff guy you always portrayed yourself to be. Do your time. You earned it.
I bet when hey gets out he will look ripped like Will Ferrell as Mugatu in Zoolander 2. Jimmy the Fishstick will be scared to leave his house.
12:31 is trolling yall. Just ignore.
12:31 the only one kicked while down was his wife. everyone here wants the violent offender off the street and in jail where he belongs for as long as possible. women beaters rarely change. Surely Todd doesn't have internet access from prison?
This "man" is right where he deserves to be.
He isn’t tough anymore. His access to steroids has been stoped
No. Just no. Men who do this to women stay in prison.
You guys act like this guy is a criminal! You do realize he is a Flowood businessman don’t you!!!
Nobody in Lineage Lake will be safe if this monster is released. He is violent. Nobody should have to live near this garbage.
Let’s not forget his ‘business’ was providing tax advice that was illegal
Todd, if you can't do the time don't do the crimes.
