Rock stars and cokeheads might want to be careful driving through Gluckstadt.
We’ve had several questions regarding window tint, so here’s a quick reminder for everyone traveling in and through our city:Vehicles DO NOT come from the factory with illegal tint. However, aftermarket tint added by dealerships or individuals can sometimes exceed what is allowed by Mississippi law. Most vehicles come with factory-installed tint in the glass, especially on rear windows (SUVs/trucks).• This is called privacy glass, and it’s built into the glass—not a film.• Manufacturers design this to be legal in all states, so it won’t violate tint laws.Illegal tint usually comes from aftermarket installation, such as:• Dealership add-ons before sale• Tint shops or individuals after purchaseDealers sometimes install darker tint to make vehicles look better—but that tint may not be legal in your state, even if they sold it that way.Mississippi Tint Law:
• Front windshield: Tint is only allowed on the top portion (AS-1 line)• Front side windows: Must allow at least 28% of light through• Back side & rear windows: Must also allow at least 28% of light throughCars (sedans): 28% rule applies to ALL windows• Trucks/SUVs/Vans:Only the front windows are restricted
The back can be as dark as you want
Even if your vehicle was purchased with the tint already installed, you are still responsible for ensuring it meets state law.
Window tint that is too dark can:• Reduce visibility for the driver• Create safety concerns for law enforcement during traffic stopsOur goal is not just enforcement—but keeping everyone safe on the roadway. If you’re unsure about your tint, most reputable tint shops or inspection stations can test it for you.School buses, other buses used for public transportation, any bus or van owned or leased by a nonprofit organization duly incorporated under the laws of this state or any funeral home services vehicle, any limousine owned or leased by a private or public entity, or any government-owned law enforcement or fire department vehicle or any volunteer fire department vehicle are exempt by state law.*The fine for tint is now $243.00 and is not set by the police department. However, if you are ticketed for tint and you have it removed the ticket will be remanded.Drive safe and stay compliant, Gluckstadt!

They use this to pull over the blacks and browns. I have had a new $90k vehicle with 10% tint on the windows and 35% on the windshield for the past year or so. Drive in Gluckstadt daily and pass GPD multiple times a week. Smile and wave. Haven’t been pulled over yet because I don’t fit the profile. This PSA is just a CYA to make it seem as if they are not selectively enforcing it like every other white city in the state.
Will Jackson enforce it?
Can Gluckstadt elaborate on this contradiction?
Cars (sedans): 28% rule applies to ALL windows
• Trucks/SUVs/Vans:
👉 Only the front windows are restricted
👉 The back can be as dark as you want
MHP says truck rear windows must follow the 28% restriction.
Also...I'm having trouble finding one of those 'inspection stations' referred in the Gluck rules.
PS: I just yesterday read that Gluckstadt is attracting quite a few African American residents. How will that work out?
Why lie?
The video does shed some light on this.
no real criminals to go after i guess.
Without video evidence this is fake news.
This tint law always seemed to be a crock. All law enforcement vehicles exempt, but one reason for tint law is reduced visibility for driver, so why is that not a concern for law enforcement’s ability to see safely while driving? Also, being as it is well observed by the public, most law enforcement officers DO NOT obey traffic and speeding laws, their ability to have maximum visibility while driving would in the better interest of public safety.
Just another reason to stay out of Madison county.
I am Black, moved to Madison, the county off Gluckstadt road 20 years ago this July. When we first moved, I had an aftermarket tinted sedan, and now I drive an aftermarket tinted truck...I have never been pulled over in Gluckstadt...years ago, Madison County would road block Gluckstadt road right before Dewees, but that might have been for the pineapple crew in Reunion. Don't drive "dirty" anywhere, have proper ID, paperwork, and current insurance. I am not so naive or far removed to know that all that can still lead to a traffic stop issue, but it helps (wrong or right) in the ever-looking eyes of this soceity.
10:00, The officer can't see the color of the driver due to the tint. That triggers the officer to investigate the tint.
That new park ain’t going to pay for itself.
I see what you did there.
Welp, state law is also state law all day long. The citizens/ public/ mommas complaining about any of the enforcement of state law in any community should really check their sanity. Do they want the law enforced or do they not? Which is it? Ohh they are just mad because they are caught and it cost them. Ohhh well. It's my understanding the city court of any city has required fees to charge for those types violations-- most of the $$$$ goes to the state. So there, it's not really a revenue maker for a city.
Different fund.... try again
Good plan. Stay away.
Why can't the little people have the same tint the law officers do? I do not see any city cop car that does not have darker tint than other people on the road. Dose the tint do the same thing for the police that it does to other citizens?
This is redneck dip s__t Gluckstadt city officials instructing their Law Enforcement Officers to write as many tickets as possible for the money it generates. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with skin color, so don’t believe the race hustlers posting their BS herein.
If you know Madison or Madison County officials or LEO’s well enough, they will confirm the Wilmer Alabama like speed trapping and now the tint, is all about fining the hard working tax paying citizens as much as possible, to fund their new projects.
And rest assured these same city officials and LEOs will help their friends and family out (especially if you give the LEOs a discount) so don’t believe their tired old line “don’t break the law” BS.
After living in Madison County for decades I can attest that the LEOs in Madison, Ridgeland, Canton and the Sherriff’s Department are about “serving and protecting,” and unlike Gluckstadt, are not abusing their citizens with ridiculous fines.
There does seem to be 2 pieces of good news re: Gluckstadt:
1) apparently they parted ways with the anti-civil liberties “so-called Judge” Trey Sims that holds himself out as criminal defense attorney. Instead of showing up for court he would send his gal out to tell everybody that took off work to plead their case, “you can (take off of work again and) come back, but he’s going to rule against you.” Be assured this is the last guy you want representing you in a criminal defense case.
2) allegedly Gluckstadt was charging over $1,000.00 for the tint tickets and somebody stepped in to protect the citizens from this excessive abuse.
Why can unmarked police cars have tint but others can’t?? Do as I say not as I do
If you have a gun and badge the law doesn’t apply to you
State law allows darker tint on PD / emergency units.
Can we address tinted and covered license plates please?
As the years go, I’m noticing the general public posts videos about things where there is noticeable shock over something that has “punishment” for a wrong committed. Why?
Your understanding is wrong.
That’s what I’m thinking
No
I don’t care if Gluckstadt is doing this simply to raise money. If your windows are out of compliance with state law, get them fixed or don’t whine about a fine. And as another commenter said, let’s work on the license plates obscured with dark plastic or wide frames.
Some of y'all wanted Gluckstadt to become a city. Be careful what you vote for, just like in Jackson.
1:51 pm, what reason do they give for those people to be allowed tinted windows? Ot is that one question they will not answer?
Its a stupid Pu$$E rule so cops can pull over cars with tinted windows. It is not about their safety. You can't see through the cab of an 18 wheeler, or a U-haul. Or a 1970's van. So why the fuss about seeing through the back window of a Camry.
10:10, If you have a tinted windshield, you should be stopped by the police at least once a day, every day.
Tinted windows are a safety issue, pure and simple. If I’m in traffic it helps in certain situations for me to be able to see the driver of a vehicle. I may need to know they see me moving over or turning. Tinted windows are like a poker player wearing sunglasses; it’s hard to know what they see or what their intent is. Another way tinted windows are a safety issue is when an LEO approaches a vehicle, they need to be able to assess a potential dangerous situation. So you tinted window types please quit whining and get them fixed.
