As we have approached Resurrection Sunday aka Easter this year, I’ve seen many advertisements about specials in theaters on television and online about Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. Over the past year or so I’ve seen an increased interest in the Bible, Christian missions, and Evangelical discipleship programs.
Why are we seeing all this activity now? I’ve been writing a weekly column for about 20 years. In the early days I wrote opinion-editorials (op-eds) about cultural and social trends and news from an Evangelical perspective. In those days other writers wrote columns on faith topics. Typically, editors ran those columns on weekends beside “church” news and announcements.
I almost always made a biblical point somewhere in my columns because I knew readers in the South liked to discuss popular news and current topics in biblical or faith contexts. I received warnings from a host of editors not to include Bible or faith in my columns particularly if the columns were about politics!
Well, I wrote and distributed the columns for free and saw no reason not to continue following a spiritual format. Of course, some editors asked me to stop sending the column, and I suppose even more never printed it. Nevertheless, some editors and readers enjoyed the column and encouraged me to keep on writing.
The past few years I’ve observed something akin to a revival among college students. When I was college student myself, I was always involved in numerous parachurch and church ministries. Most of the time those involvements kept me from getting into too much trouble.
I was never particularly interested in politics, but the 2008 race for president attracted my attention. I remember hearing Barack Obama speak at the Democrat National Convention in 2004. At that time, I knew very little about the junior senator from Illinois, but I knew he would be the 2008 Democrat candidate for president! He was a good speaker and obviously very popular with the crowds.
The 2008 race for president was fun for me to watch. The Republicans had a bunch of candidates. I’m sure the Democrats had a bunch too, but Senator Obama seemed to rise above all the rest. The joke was that if Obama won, we’d all be socialists! I wondered how a candidate with a Muslim name could win a national election just 7 years after 911. But that’s what happened, and I’ve seen a lot stranger things since then.
I had planned to write this week’s column about troubles here and abroad. Here because of all the politics over ID voting and recent alleged Islamic terrorist attacks. Abroad because of America and Israel’s war against Iran and all the intrigue about relationships between nations in the Middle East as well as the ramifications about America’s relations with China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, and nations in South America.
Jesus warned His disciples to watch for the signs of His coming. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father alone. Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time is.” (Mark 13:31-33) “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.” (Revelation 22:21)

The increased interest is likely because many people are beginning to recognize that Trump is the Antichrist, and the Apocalypse is near.
Mixing religion and politics is gross. I wish people would understand that advancing political ideology through religion is scummy and controlling behavior. It’s a low effort grift preying on people’s sincere beliefs. It’s one of the reasons I don’t respect DL as a human.
When politics and religion mix, it is always to the detriment of religion.

8:03 am You do know there's a difference between a person who is a recognized leader of a religion and a politician who is trying to force others to adhere to his religious views.
There's difference between condemning those who don't share your religious views and trying to inspire all citizens to be better people. I don't want my daughters and granddaughters to have to wear a burka OR have to get pay for a Mar-a-Lago face to get hold office or preach the gospel.
I favor requiring a lower age limit to hold office and a reading comprehension test score that is above average! I want smart people who are honorable representing me and I hate party propagandizing. A TWO PARTY SYSTEM ISN'T IN OUR CONSTITUTION for a REASON!
The point is that if one is obsessed with politics, then true religion cannot exist. Citing political leaders that manipulated religion is the point. When I read comments of people that have so much emotion tied to politics, I assume they are not spiritually sound.
So...none of who want religion have read history to learn what it was like when Catholics or Protestants or Muslims won wars and ruled the " know world"? Does the name Oliver Cromwell ring a bell?
Has DL or his supporters actually looked at the religions of our Founders , some of whom fled here for religious freedom or freedom from a religion? Benjamin Franklin sure wanted a free press to print what he thought important! Indeed, the Salem witch trials were because some Protestant extremists who fled Catholicism missed the freedom part and only believed in " their way or the highway".
I'm not approving your comment nor any others about Tucker Carlson all you want. Someone who thinks Hitler was the good guy and Churchill was the bad guy or unconditional surrender means American troops will go on a massive rape spree has no place here.

"Trump is the Antichrist, and the Apocalypse is near", is that the way you see it? Or, are you projecting? In other words, that's the way you see it, so, therefore everyone else must see it that way, also. I don't see it that way at all.

Sorry 4:34, but Tucker has pandered to guests, without criticism, who said the Hitler was right and Churchill was bad. I used to really like Tucker but he has gone off the rails as has Candace.
Having a guest on is not the same as the libel KF is saying. He’s lucky he is such a pissant that Tucker wouldn’t bother suing him.
Joe Rogan also has a variety of guests on his podcast.
I think the truth is that Jimmy is just a failed podcaster and it eats him up. Just today he proved AI can put together a better show than he can.
I also understand that Jimmy cant handle any contradictions.
Regardless, Tucker has millions of subscribers and 10s of millions of views. Jimmy is lucky if he can get 10 of you boomers to sit through his amateur hour podcasts.
Tucker and Joe are right about a lot and so are their diverse guests. The history we are taught is full of lies.

Perhaps you and Jimmy boy should do your best to debate the message instead of attacking the messenger?
