The Catch & Release Program is alive and well in Hinds County. Exhibit A: One Harold Stiff.
Stiff is known to the police as he was arrested several times more than a decade ago for petty crimes such as receiving stolen goods, fleeing a law enforcement officer, and simple assault of a police officer. However, Stiff allegedly graduated to aggravated assault.
JPD arrested Stiff on June 3, 2024 after he allegedly shot his girlfriend in the head. Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeff Reynolds called him "an extreme danger" as he gave him a $2 million bond. However, Hinds County Court Judge Johnny McDaniels reduced his bond in January 2025.
The Hinds County grand jury indicted Stiff for aggravated assault in June 2025 ( a year later). Hinds County Court Circuit Judge Winston Kidd set his bond at $100,000. Unfortunately, Stiff's resistance to correcting his wayward ways stiffened after he posted bond.
JPD is looking for Stiff again. Judge Jeff Reynolds issued a warrant for Stiff's arrest. A police affidavit alleges he committed aggravated assault - domestic violence. The affidavit states:

My Hinds Judicial fatigue is too great for me to care much anymore.
I do with the people who live there would demand better, but much like a battered wife...they cannot seem to do that.
Felonies aren't "petty crimes." Fleeing a LEO is a felony and presents serious risks to the public.
Sounds like Pops Saloon is the place to be!!
Hinds County elected judges are why you don’t live in Hinds County. The criminals know to crime only within the bounds of Hinds County because they know if they get caught they’ll just be released by the elected judges. This is why Rankin and Madison Counties are much safer. Most of the criminals know if they travel across county lines and get caught, they aren’t getting let go for a very long time. It’s as simple as that.
He needs a leadacillin injection.
Who is the attorney getting the bonds reduced?
Don't even ask what the Hump Day special is!
Luckily Pops has competent security to handle situations where the customers be acting like this.
You'll never hear a word out of former JPD sworn officer Lt. Graham even though Hinds is bleeding population and tax base.
Maybe these judges are scared of criminals. We need stronger people in the court systems. Weak ass judges afraid of criminals are making things difficult on the citizens. We should enact a “justice group” that handles criminals when these judges release them back on the street.
to 9:56.........you have obviously watched the clint eastwood movie ''magnum force'' one too many times.
tell us more about your ''justice group''........you sound like a real expert on this subject.
It's not an attorney it's a judge.
You get the standards you are willing to accept

It’s the way we used to do things back when Jackson was a safe place to live.
In the absence of justice, criminals run free. Sounds like you have never had anything happen to you and see no consequences for the perpetrators. How is life from the cheap seats?
Hinds County is never going to elect independent and conservative judges so long as the majority of our citizens choose to exist on the Democrat plantation. We are simply reaping what we sow. We have only ourselves to blame.
As we see Jackson continue to go down the road in worse shape, we wave to them and say, “best of luck!”
