Uproar over ICE and Border Patrol aggressive tactics has begun to breach President Donald Trump’s fortress.
“Hate to say it, but they are all lying,” posted lifelong Mississippi Republican Pete Perry on Facebook. “Denial of what we have seen, what has been put in front of us – them and us – and ignored and lied about. We saw it. They saw it. And they know we and everyone else have seen the truth.”
Perry was writing about the numerous fallacious statements justifying the killing of American citizen Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old nurse in Minnesota, made by Homeland Security Secretary Kristy Noem, her cohort Border Patrol Commander at Large Greg Bovino, and other high-ranking officials in the Trump administration. He cited numerous falsehoods from Noem, Bovino, and others made before and after the facts of the killing became known.
You can tell he was angry. “OK. I've been an active, participating, fighting Republican for almost 60 years, I'll bet longer than damn near anybody else that is reading this post or bothering to comment on it and telling me how wrong I am. But my Republicanism is based on a law-and-order basis, a constitutional basis – and this is not it.”
Conservative blogger Erick Erickson, published in Jackson Jambalaya, had a similar take. “What we have right now is the Trump Administration, led by the head of the Border Patrol and Kristi Noem, rushing to seed a narrative into the minds of people before all the facts are known and some of the facts they presented have already turned out not to be true.
“These are not PR agents. These are government officials. They have an obligation to be truthful and measured while so many facts are unknown.”
Sen. Rand Paul, chair of the committee overseeing homeland security, said, “we have to be very honest.”
President Trump backed off his erroneous comments about the killing and yanked authority in Minnesota away from Noem and Bovino, assigning border czar Tom Homan to take charge.
However, Trump still intends to swarm heavily armed ICE agents into cities to arrest illegal immigrants.
Many have noted how the images from these incursions too much resemble images of security forces in Iran putting down demonstrations. Ironically, Trump wants to protect Iran’s dissident citizens but forcibly dispel and arrest dissident American citizens.
It didn’t have to come to this. Normal police apprehension practices could have yielded the results Trump wants. How many more dead citizens and justifying lies must occur before more Republicans, like Perry, will show their outrage?

It has been especially horrible and unnecessary to see innocent children traumatized.
It's fine to arrest those who are here illegally IF you have given them due process of the law and go about it the right way.
These thugs are arresting people who have lawfully applied for and are meeting the requirements for citizenship.
Worse, peaceful protest is a constitutional right that has been violated.
The real problem is the appointment of agency heads that have zero qualifications and no experience. Money and loyalty to Trump is all that is required to successfully break our laws with impunity in this administration.

The blame Crawford places on Noem and Bovino for their comments after the Pretti shooting is well deserved. However, he fails to acknowledge the “aggressive tactics” he condemns are only necessary due to the refusal of Minnesota authorities to work with ICE, the violent rhetoric spewed by Minnesota’s leaders, and the anarchist mobs who are hellbent on thwarting anything the Trump administration does. If Minnesota would work with ICE just half as much as it did when Obama was deporting record numbers of illegals, the problems would go away.
Mr. Crawford didn't say a word as Biden opened the borders and millions upon millions flooded through. Drugs, sex trafficking, kids without parents, etc. Doesn't recognize how Walz and Frey are adopting the tactics of Wallace and Barnett as they parrot John C. Calhoun in their rush to nullify federal laws.
Mr. Crawford is silent on the shootings of ICE agents, attacks on them (see Texas), and the doxxing of agents so their families can be harassed or harmed in their homes. He says nothing about the leftists who are on TikTok advocating shooting ICE agents.
This website discussed last week how Noem and her crew were out of line, how the more responsible people such as Homan were sidelined. Well, the Filler Queen has herself been sent to the sidelines.
As for Noem not having law enforcement experience, neither did Ridge. Most of the other secretaries were lawyers. Oddly enough, the best qualified one was Mayorkas, who wound up being the worst. Go figure.

Isn’t being wildly unqualified for their jobs the whole point? Trump wants to destroy the US government and by placing inept leaders in major roles, he’s getting his retribution. He wasn’t happy when he was prosecuted for his crimes and now he’s getting the last laugh.

If Trump doesn't have the balls to be physically MORE aggressive than the aggressors due to his growing fear of "optics"....then the Republic is lost. This is all nothing new. Only the victims have changed. Black people have been the victims of this abusive treatment for decades and were ignored until some cameras revealed the carnage.
