Shonta/Shanta Richmond is not just a star graduate of the Hinds County criminal justice system's Catch & Release program but is a valedictorian. Richmond gained recent notoriety after he robbed the Cadence Bank on Canton Mart Road. However, our would-be bank-robber is under indictment for manslaughter, aggravated DUI, and fourth-offense DUI.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Richmond in May 2024 for fourth offense DUI:
The case is assigned to Hinds County Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten and is still pending.
The grand jury indicted Richmond in November 2024 for aggravated DUI after he allegedly killed someone while driving drunk in 2022:
Check out his BAC level.
The case is assigned to Judge Wooten and is pending. The grand jury also indicted Richmond for manslaughter for the same October 20, 2022 event in May 2023. The case is pending before Judge Wooten. A prosecutor said the state will dismiss one of the two charges.
The Capitol Police arrested Richmond earlier this week for the Cadence Bank robbery.
CCID Court Judge James Holland set Richmond's bond at $1 million.
Believe it or not, this was not Richmond's first bank robbery. Richmond pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to armed carjacking, and armed bank robbery, in 2003. The federal docket states:
defendant pleaded guilty; to be imprisoned on counts-1&3, 41-months to run concurrently; counts-2&4, 7-years (84-months) on each count to run consecutively to each other and to the sentences imposed in counts 1&3; the total term of imprisonment is 209-months; shall be on supervised release for a term of 3-years for counts-1,2,4, to run concurrently to each other and 5-years for count-3, with special conditions; to pay $2,000.00 fine and to pay $400.00 ($100.00 per count) Special Assessment
Richmond was released from federal prison in 2017. However, he didn't take care of his restitution and earned himself a little revocation in 2020. Federal marshals took Richmond into custody two weeks prior to the revocation hearing. Judge Tom Lee gave the defendant credit for time served and ordered his release.
Kingfish note: This is what one calls habitual offender. If convicted on all indictments and this bank robbery, lock him up for life.

No words-
So he was out on bond for the fatal 4th DUI in 2022, when he was charged with a second 4th DUI in 2023.
Why wasn't his bond revoked when he was charged the second time? Not only was his bond not revoked, but he was apparently allowed to bond out for the second DUI 4th?
Citizenship has its privileges
Bro had 3 DUIs back in 2022 and a 0.201 BAC and killed a woman!?!?!? How is he not in prison? This state makes me sick with its unwillingness to punish proper criminals like this one. They have chosen to forego their right to live free in society. Sucks to be them but we don't need his kind (criminal, not race, before you start playing Uno with the race cards)
He is an ugly dude
Wooten is a waste. I don't think she has done much the whole time she has been a judge except get a paycheck.
If only he were able to go to another school...
He must have gotten kicked in the head by a mule.
That condition could actually come in handy. I might would have made better grades in school if I had been able to keep my head down but still copy another person's paper.
Hinds County Judges come on y’all are literally killing your constituents! Treat these convicted criminals as if your friends and loved ones were violated. We did not elect y’all to be social workers.
The Governor needs to call a special session to deal with lackadaisical Judges in Hinds County. Y’all just can’t keep letting these fools roam our streets. Now the zoo might be an alternative jail space.
If anyone is shock, please comment below.
Adrienne Wooten know a criminal if he bit her.
@5:17pm - Ayooooo
Maybe, after a fourth DUI, a pleasant-and-easy EUTHANASIA option could be offered? Never mind.... creatures from Ohio, would go down to Mississippi, and raise a stink about it.
When are we going to start posting pictures of the judges with their resume of "Catch and release"? Just no accountability.
I sure hope nobody makes a Facebook page called friends of Adrian Wooten, and all the other judges and list how the outcome of their cases has gone.
I agree with 2.14 PM - he is one unattractive dude! As Bo Diddley once said, “He looks like he done been whupped with an ugly stick!
Some people simply need a .44 to the back of the head. Everyone would be better off.
Was he just trying to get federal time instead of state time? Clearly he knows time is coming, was he looking to do in fed....
What is it going to take for these judges to do their jobs? Is someone they care about going to have be raped, murdered, etc before they care? Why are they so soft on these perps?
I am intrigued by the number of folks with lazy eyes lately.
Not insulting them or making a joke, but just perplexed at how many mugshots on this site as well as people I've encountered that are dealing with this issue.
Maybe I am just more aware. I dunno.
a .201 blood alcohol content would result in alcohol poisoning and death for many people , but this is a guy who aint gonna do us any favors.
It's a fact of pathological behavior that this miscreant's level of violence will increase with every blessing from the court system that puts him back on the street. Won't be long before he puts a bullet in someone's loved one, or maybe you.
The next time your worthless legislator (and they all are) campaigns on his tough law and order platform, you might want to ask him/her those questions.
