Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On July 1, 2025, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to xxxx Cedar Ridge Boulevard, Pearl, MS for an alleged sexual assault and armed robbery. Upon arrival responding deputies met with the victim who stated that she was a realtor getting for an open house event at the location. During the on scene investigation, the victim stated that shortly after she entered the residence an older male, later identified as Jerry Glynn Dennis came inside the and stated that he was there for the open house. While conversing the victim, Dennis produced a handgun at which point a struggle began over the firearm. The victim was able to bite Jerry Dennis on the arm at which point he struck her on the head with the pistol. The victim was then forced undress at gunpoint after which she was sexually assaulted. After the assault, Jerry Glynn Dennis told the victim not to tell anyone then robbed her of the keys to her vehicle and cellular device and fled the location.
Investigators with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department were able to determine the suspects whereabouts and arrested him at a residence in Rankin County. Jerry Glynn Dennis is being house at the Rankin County Detention Center on a bond amount of $950,000. His charges included two counts of Sexual Battery, Kidnapping, and Armed Robbery.

What an ugly sicko. Who gives bond to a monster like that? Also, is it that hard to enter an address correctly, just shows the incompetence we have in our local police departments that every other arrest report has a glaring issue they didn’t even bother to glance at to check.

This is why I struggle with churches investing in prison ministry. I literally don’t care if he goes to hell. That’s where he belongs. Invest those resources into the victims and the trauma they have to live with on this side of eternity. and let street justice take care of this POS.
My wife is 5 feet tall, and 135 lbs., and a green eyed redhead than can go to 10 in a flash.....even with a gun, she would have made him regret he was born in about 3 seconds.
I do so hate that this happened to this young woman. Why we spend money on holding and prosecuting animals like this is a waste of tax dollars, and unjust to victims. One bullet, and a hole in the ground. Done.

I'm really surprised that the realtor wasn't packing. I was under the impression that most of them do. I know that I wouldn't be alone in a house with strangers unless I was strapped. It just ain't safe.

If you recall, she did put up a struggle so she's clearly a bit brave and feisty herself. Honestly, unless your wife has been in this situation before, you don't really know exactly what she'd do or what the outcome would be even if she is a tiny green eyed badass. I certainly hope your wife is never in the position of reading comments after her sexual assault about what she should have done differently or how so and so could've saved herself.

There are a few well-packing realtors in the area, and I know two (female realtors) who teach or taught handgun safety classes. The local and state associations need to go back to make safety a top priority (as they did when a realtor was killed in another state...don't remember which). Ultimately, I know it's up to the individual, but we all need to remember bad things just don't happen in Jackson. The goon squad wouldn't have helped in this situation because of his skin color.
