Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens II announced that a Hinds County jury has returned a guilty verdict against Tony Morris, 67, for the deliberate-design murder of his wife, 64-year-old Kathleen Morris. The shooting occurred on August 26, 2024, at the couple’s home located in Terry, Mississippi. Deputies with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office responded that morning to a 911 call made by Morris himself, in which he reported that he had shot his wife. Upon arrival, deputies found Kathleen Morris deceased from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Investigators determined the incident was domestic in nature, as the couple was separated and reportedly in the process of divorcing. After trial, a jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts against Morris: First Degree Murder. Morris
was sentenced to life in prison for First Degree Murder to be served under the custody of the
Mississippi Department of Corrections.
“A single moment of anger ended a 31-year marriage and took a life,” said District Attorney Owens. “Kathleen Morris lost her life during a moment of escalation that should have never happened. This case is an example of how quickly violence can overtake reason and why prevention matters just as much as prosecution. As a community, this is why we must create space for people to ask for help, and support systems that respond before violence becomes the outcome.”

“ As a community , we must create a support system to prevent bribery”
Deserved. Jody needs to join him in the fucking pen.
Less than a year from the crime to a conviction? Are you sure this happened in Hinds County? Oh wait, he's not a member of a protected class.
1) The marriage had already ended. The report says they were separated.
2) How would Owens II know the situation escalated yada yada?
3) How tough was this case for Owens II after the toofless 67 year old confessed to shooting the woman?
