Some cat ladies really are off their rocker. Exhibit A: Seattle. Fox News reported:
A Seattle woman is suing the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels, the military’s most famous flight demonstration squadron, after she was blocked from commenting on its Instagram account to complain about the "state-sanctioned acoustic torture" from the group's aerial shows and practices, which she said terrorized her cat in her final days. Lauren Ann Lombardi filed a federal lawsuit July 21 accusing the Blue Angels of infringing on her First Amendment rights. The complaint names Navy Cdr. Adam Bryan; L. Ben Bushong, the public affairs officer for the Blue Angels; and an unnamed social media administrator for the squadron, as defendants. The lawsuit states that the Blue Angels perform shows in the Seattle area near Puget Sound every August using F/A-18E/F Super Hornet jets "with the subtlety of a military occupation" while reaching speeds of upwards of 700 mph, which produces extreme decibel levels... During the shows, Lombardi "engaged in a familiar American pastime of complaining to her government about her government’s actions through her government’s social media accounts" to advocate for her elderly cat Layla, who suffered from congestive heart disease, and calling for the demonstrations in August 2023 and 2024 to end, the lawsuit states. However, she was eventually blocked from commenting on the Blue Angels' Instagram page. Lombardi's messages appeared to show her displeasure and frustration with the noise levels from the performances. "Stop with your F------ b------- you are terrorizing my cat and all the other animals and wildlife," one message states. F--- off" and "Nobody gives a f--- about your stupid little planes..." Lombardi said her cat suffered in her final days because of the aerial performances. "Whatever bandwidth Layla’s walnut-sized brain could previously gorge upon had been narrowed to a single overwhelming frequency: pure debilitating terror," the lawsuit states. "Every August was good until then, but no August would ever be the same again. Layla’s condition continued to deteriorate and she left home again, for the final time. She spent her last week fighting for her life in a specialty hospital before being humanely euthanized on August 11, 2024, surrounded by her inconsolably grieving family. Layla’s final days on Earth were marred by sadistic suffering — cowering in terror beneath furniture while her ailing heart struggled against the Blue Angels' relentless noise pollution. Layla died knowing only fear when she should have known only love." Article.
Yup. She fits the stereotype.

it’s the parasites in the cat poop (toxoplasmosis) that makes cat people so crazy

The poor cat being genuinely terrified of the noise is not unreasonable. The owner being willing to pay the costs of filing a federal lawsuit versus previously taking a legitimately terrified cat out of the area for a 2? 3? 4? hours is a bit of a mystery. The Blue Angels are not like the Spanish Inquisition - they do not suddenly show up unannounced and put on an "exhibition" to terrify cats. Even if 2023 somehow came as a surprise, 2024 could not have. So, is "summary judgement" still available in the betting pool? If someone beat me to it, and since this isn't pro se, howsabout "sanctions?"
The attorney who filed this is the husband of the plaintiff, and she's actually pretty cute.
Note to young lawyers: Do not do this for your wife, no matter how cute she is, or how much you actually liked her cat. No matter how much hell to pay at home, Do Not Do This.
Average liberal, has to try and ruin everything. These West Coast Blue Hairs have been trying for years to get it stopped. I wonder if Miss liberal loneliness has also tried to sue SEATAC, McChord, Boeing, and the various Museums? Seattle has a very strong aviation background and is a hub. The Blue Angels should host the Thunderbirds and have a joint venture airshow to make them have a mental breakdown.
I like cats. Cats are not a problem, their owners are.
Not upset with the lady. Crazy people abound but the “lawyer” who took the case, now I can get really angry with. These frivolous suits will stop when plaintiffs are forced to pay all costs if they lose a case.
The NY Post has reported that the lawsuit was “penned by attorney Nacim Bouchtia, Lombardi’s husband and Layla’s human father, according to the cat’s obituary”.
Why doesn’t he sue all the white trash torturing dogs with their fireworks? Didn’t Layla suffer from that? What a Cat Dad!!
Valium. It's what's for dinner. Used to have to give it to my Great Dane during thunderstorms. He would run through the house barking and looking for the thunder so he could beat its ass. She should be on some too.
We're White trash for shooting fireworks on the 4th? You some kinda communist?
I'm guessing that she doesn't subscribe to "the sound of freedom."
It’s all so tiring, boss.
What a frivolous lawsuit. I hope the lawyer gets a suspended, however, I doubt it to the fruits, nuts & crazies' in Seattle.
They should fly much lower.
The cat's father obviously does not have enough paying work to keep him busy. I can see why that would be the case, though.
"Cute" is very subjective, I guess.
googling the “cat father’s” name returns WA-ACLU.
And she is a cute little italian
Cat earmuffs for sale.....feline-ears.com.....get em while they last!
She is a typical left coast snowflake.
She is a bed wetter, yes, she is. At the same time, and this is just me, I know, I don’t need the huge waste of petroleum entailed in these “gol-lee damn, ain’t they badass” Top Gun air shows.
The husband did it for her 'cat', alright. Had he not done it, as instructed, she would have withheld her 'cat' from his affections. What's that other name for a cat? I shall say no more.
She sounds like one of those people that buys a house near an airport just to complain about the noise.
May I suggest a low level knife edge past by her house to acknowledge the complaint? In full afterburner!
The complaint reads as very tongue-in-cheek in places. I enjoyed it very much!
Well, 1113, we have not fought a major naval battle since 1945, so they have to have something to do.
Like some of the cry babies who live near the Madison Airport complaining about the helicopter noise.
Face facts: Liberals are inherently mean people. While they are incredibly generous with other people's money, they are not so generous with their own money.
11:14 with truth.
"Note to young lawyers: Do not do this for your wife, no matter how cute she is, or how much you actually liked her cat. No matter how much hell to pay at home, Do Not Do This."
Good advice, especially with some minor tweeking:
Note to all lawyers: Do not do this for anyone, no matter how cute anyone is, or how much you actually liked the cat. No matter how much hell to pay from anyone. Do Not Do This.
I'll add to the already-good advice: But if you are determined to do something this stupid, Do Not Do This in federal court, Do Not name federal entities as Defendants, and Do Not name federal personnel in their official capacity as Defendants.
@1:32 then what can the citizenry do when the federal government and unelected employees of the government infringe on your constitutional rights? Take up arms?
If she feels like she has a constitutional right to post on instagram and is willing to kill and die on that hill, then absolutely. Invoke your 2A and take up arms.
"@1:32 then what can the citizenry do when the federal government and unelected employees of the government infringe on your constitutional rights? Take up arms?"
1:32 responding - Which "constitutional right" protects a person's right to use offensive language on a forum provided by a private company? She was not "blocked" from communicating her protests to the government, either using calm and rational language or cussing them out. She was merely blocked from one particular privately-owned forum because of the language she used on that forum. And while we'll never know a past that did not occur, it is a reasonable guess that had she used calm and rational language rather than cussing them out on that one forum, she would not have been blocked from even that one forum. One person's protected right of protest does not grant them unlimited freedom to violate the rights of others via their conduct in making that protest.
The cat's owners could have put the cat in the bath tub and drowned it or in an 18" hole and shot it while the jets covered the noise, to end its suffering. I despise cats and all the diseases they spread whilst preying on yard birds and spraying their stinking pee all over. You want a cat, keep it caged up indoors, walk it on a stick leash.
I guess she's cute in the way Dr. Seuss characters are cute...
July 29, 2025 at 4:41 PM you are one sick bastard. May you receive similar treatment in your final days.
