Teresa Malone passed away Christmas Eve.
Convicted of bribery of a public official and attempt & conspiracy in the Chris Epps scandal, U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate sentenced her to serve 41 months in prison.
She suffered from lung cancer for several years. She attempted to get a lung transplant but was unsuccessful. She was released from prison in January due to her poor health and given credit for time served.
Malone was a lobbyist/consultant for Adminpros. The company obtained MDOC contracts from 2008 to 2014. Adminpros paid Malone $5,000 per month from 2010 to 2014. Malone made payments to Epps that varied from $1,000 to $1,750.

Not to lessen the sadness for family and others who loved her, but both she and Bennett ripped the state off for years. He died before even being charged, as I recall. He was a major player and chair of the prison committee and tweaked the ins and outs of the DOC for a decade or two. She sat beside him in chambers and the two (and others) were co-conspirators.
It is what it is and it was what it was. R.I.P.
"Amnipro paid her $17,000 for her services."
"SERVICES" has just been redefined by the blog admin.
As someone who knew Ms. Teresa well, she was a very kind person. The article here did not even get her lung and health problems correct. When the judge sentenced her, he sentenced her a death sentence. Look at how minute this is in comparison to other state and federal agencies. This is the problem with our justice system. The judge who sentenced her will never care, but he whole handedly gave her a death sentence, and sadly nobody will ever blink an eye at it.
3:00 people like you that try to minimize government corruption give credibility to those that justify stealing because it’s the big bad government that is being robbed. Robbing the government is no different than robbing a person’s home. And it’s my money and yours (assuming you don’t also think it’s ok to evade taxes) that is being stolen.
Being a kind person does not mean you get to avoid sentencing.
Being sick does not mean you get a lesser sentence.
Not being a criminal WILL ensure that you wont be sentenced at all.
It is indeed a shame for her loved ones that she did not choose that option.
The judge gave her a death sentence? Anybody of even minimal brain function would know that her smoking habit over the years is what caused her cancer and her lung cancer is what gave her the death sentence. You don't get to steal millions because you have health issues. Bennett escaped justice altogether since he immediately and died upon notice that Epps had been found-out.

Edit: Bennett escaped justice altogether since he immediately RESIGNED AND RETIRED, (and soon died) upon notice that Epps had been found out.
Teresa Malone paid her debt to society. Now, she’s dead. Move on.

Really? She repaid those unknown hundreds of thousands of dollars to the state? I missed that. She didn't owe 'society' a dime. She owed the state one whale of a lot of money, stolen through graft and years of criminal activity.
“He who dies pays all debts” is not a popular one around here.
