A Rankin County grand jury indicted Todd Mardis last week for aggravated domestic violence in the brutal beating of his wife at their Flowood home in October. The indictment states:
Jason Todd Mardis on or about October 4, 2022.... did knowingly or recklessly cause or attempt to cause serious bodily injury to "his wife" (His wife's actually name will not be used in this post.), under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, to wit: by attacking his wife causing a fractured ankle, fractured cheek bone, lacerated liver, rib fractures, and other injuries to the grand jury unknown at a time when his wife was the spouse of Jason Todd Mardis, in violation of Miss. Code. Ann. Section 97-3-74(a)(i), and being against the peace and dignity of the State of Mississippi.Mardis's trial is set for May 1, 2023. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.
Flowood police arrested Mardis on October 7. JJ reported on October 11:
Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow set bond at $750,000 for Jason Todd Mardis this morning after Flowood police arrested him for aggravated domestic violence Friday. Broken bones, torn-out hair, and a lacerated liver are just some of the savagery Mardis allegedly unleashed upon his wife the night of October 4. Justice may indeed be served one day but it won't erase the horror that will forever scar her long after the wounds heal.
Mardis is President of Capital Preservation Services, LLC. The company is known for advising physicians on tax planning and investments. (KF note: The Board of Directors relieved him of his duties after his arrest). ...
Sergeant Messer testified Mardis and his wife met another couple for dinner at McLain's Lodge on the evening of October 4. An argument that began at the restaurant ended in violence at the Mardis home in Lineage Lake of Lakeland in Flowood. Security video showed Mardis punching his wife in the stomach before throwing the unconscious woman on the ground "like she was a rag doll." He allegedly proceeded to slap her several times and dragged her across the pavement by her hair.
Collette objected to the testimony, arguing it had nothing to do with a motion to deny bond. Miles replied an accounting of what took place that night showed the defendant is a danger to the community, thus grounds for denying bond. Judge Morrow denied the objection.
The Flowood detective stated her injuries were:
1. Fractured right ankle
2. Fractured left cheekbone
3. Lacerated liver
4. Broken ribs (#10 and #11)
5. Strangulation marks on her neck
6. Missing hair on her head
7. Extensive bruising on her left arm and stomach.
The victim was hospitalized at St. Domic Hospital but her injuries required her to be transferred to UMMC. Mardis flew the next morning to Tampa on his private jet on a business trip. His attorney, John Colette, said the trip was already planned.
A Rankin County deputy received information about the alleged assault and notified Flowood police on October 6. Detective Messer interviewed the victim at the hospital. Flowood police arrested Mardis at 2 PM October 7 at the Jackson International Airport when he returned from Tampa.
Waiving his rights, the defendant said he hit his wife with an open hand but did not recall how she got from the vehicle to the house. However, the detective said police obtained video from three security cameras showing the assault. Earlier post.
The sentence for aggravated domestic violence ranges from two years to twenty years in prison. Attorney John Collette represents Mardis.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Steve Ratcliff, III.

Old John “bleed em and plead em” Colette. Guess he’s expanding his practice from the Jackson dope boys.
Not Guilty your honor, it wasn't me. What a joke.
Good luck with explaining that to the judge and jury how she slipped and fell and beat the shit out of herself.
Parchman is waiting on you partner.
Not Guilty? So did she trip and fall 47 times onto the concrete driveway? Did she run into the column on the porch 13 times? How do these bruises and marks on her body show up if Todd never touched her? I wish a judge would ask Todd "Since you never hit her, how did she get hospitalized"? I would love to hear his answer.
No defendant pleads guilty upon arrest if an attorney is hired. Think about it folks.
Second post of the week about somebody so bad off they had to go to UMMC. They see a lot of trauma. And they are good at treating it. I know the haters hate to say anything good about UMMC.
He's due his day in court. His lawyer's job is to see that he gets a fair trial, not to champion his guilt or innocence.
You clowns in the bleachers can either show up at the trial and listen to the proceedings or sit up there snacking on popcorn pissing your britches.
This piece of sh t needs to do hard time. There is no excuse for treating a woman, much less your wife, this way. if the video evidence is as strong as indicated, he needs to try to plead and hope for a 10 year sentence at minimum.
What a pathetic loser
If that was my daughter, he would be a dead man. No apologies made for that comment.
And now the backdoor wheeling and dealing begins.
Mardis will get probation and an ankle bracelet.
Rankin "justice."
Y’all be sure to save y’all’s internet toughguy comments for when y’all can say them to my man in person.
What is the penalty for aggravated domestic violence?
I don’t know “Todd” , but that yellow is a good color on him. He would not be still incarcerated if “Anybody” gave shit about him
hey 7:40 .. if he is your man, you really hang around some classy folks. Wife beater for years as most of us who know him have all know this has been going on a long time, just this time he finally got caught. I have known this POS for years, and his mouth and ego are too big for him. Yeah.. I'll say it right to his face if he ever shows his pathetic face again around here.. bullies hate it when you stand up to them.. he needs at least 5 years at Parchman to straighten his ass out.. a divorce from his sweet wife, lose his business and everything he has, to really understand what a real POS he is for doing what he did her and his family
Consequences are due here...Serious ones.
He probably plead not guilty in the hopes of being offered a plea bargain
7:40 That’s your man? Says a lot about you.
Some comments look like they are from Todd. As a teenager having seen my father with his hands around my mothers neck after became home drunk is nothing to take lightly. Bond should be REVOKED! You will never UN picture this if you experience it in person. Praises to the Grand Jury for their courage and Mardis children in the days ahead for their courage!
7:40 sounds like a dumbass redneck. The kind that gives our state a bad name. Actually he sounds just like Todd!
@7:40, do you mean from behind the other side of the glass wall? Shouldn't be too difficult to do...
"He probably plead not guilty in the hopes of being offered a plea bargain". That or hoping his family, friends or Guido can get to his wife getting her to assist in prosecution.
"Y’all be sure to save y’all’s internet toughguy comments for when y’all can say them to my man in person"
7:40, "your man" is a wife beater who beat the shit out of his wife and then left town the next day for a business trip while she laid in the hospital. You should pick better friends in the future.
As for your comment that we should say it to Todd's face, which implies he would beat the shit out of us too for saying it to him, well you just proved the whole reason why he's being prosecuted. He's a "Billy bad ass" who wants to fight and beat people up when they say something he doesn't want to hear. Yeah, a real man he is. Do you think he's going to kick the prosecutor's ass or the judge's ass when they say something to his face about what he did to his wife and that he should be punished ? Oh, that'll go over real well for him.
@7:40
Your “man” is a coward. He won’t be very intimidating when he goes to jail and has to get off gear. I doubt he will be allowed to continue TRT in prison.
And that's why we have laws, a criminal justice system, and police. All this tough guy crap is just that, crap.
@9:33 AM
So says the pistol grip punk who carries a gun everywhere cause he a scared little bitch troll
King,
He will do more harm than good in prison. Inmates will get hurt and they don’t deserve it. House arrest is appropriate.
when you plead not guilty under oath and they have you on video doing what you are charged of doing.... shouldn't that be perjury?
10:10, you beat women much? Inmates will get hurt. House arrest is appropriate. You so funny.
Someone should ask during trial why she always had bruises on her arms. Why she would wear long sleeves all the time. This isn't the first time this has happened. The worst? yes but not the first.
How bout them hair plugs!

Defending yourself from inmates is a lot different from beating your wife. I can see why he wouldn't want to be in prison, because the odds aren't in his favor. But, if you do the crime, you should have to do the time.
Yeah let's give all violent criminals house arrest so as to protect the inmate population.
If he had been in jail for the fraudulent tax shelters he peddles, this wouldnt have happened. Not one of his scams has ever withstood IRS scrutiny. Of course, some never get audited, which this scum calls "winning the audit lottery". He sells what he calls "dumb doctor deals". Those who get audited face ruinous tax penalties and interest.
@ 1:10 Can you provide any proof whatsoever that these are scams?
If your financial planning involves "captive insurance", particularily foreign microcaptive insurance (those domiciled in Puerto Rico?) then it might be time to reevaluate your planning!
A person could check into what the IRS had been up to lately with ection 831(b) enforcement. Substantial penalties may apply!
https://jlkrosenberger.com/ssap/tame-831b-abuse/
3:24 not only financial planning, but also captive insurance companies that people like Fisher Brown Bottrell push to large construction type accounts as a tax shelter/savings. The people using these are made promises that will come crashing down and cost them huge, but the agents pushing them are living high on the hog at the moment.
Next thing you know someone's going to be claiming he's a good guy, that he's made a few mistakes but who hasn't, that he's tough as a pine knot, with oranges the size of beachballs!
I'll say one thing. Ole Todd sure brings the comments.
I don't want to sound cold hearted but I wonder if he is back living with her. If he and her have made up why would there be an outcry to jail this POS? My Grandfather used to say "you can only care for someone as much as they care for themselves."
A restraining order is in place.
The victim is the state, not his wife. She can try to drop the charges all day long but the state does not need her consent or testimony to prosecute. That is as it should be.
So if some thug on the street beats you up with a baseball bat, goes Tony Soprano on you, does that mean state should not prosecute if you forgive him?
Amen, Kingfish. I'm glad she cannot drop the charges. I wish I had filed charges against my ex every time he beat me or abused me. I was too scared. I hope Mrs. Mardis heals both physically and emotionally in the years to come. It it very difficult to forget (or forgive).

Thank you for the update! The judge in this case doesn’t play around! Strong family man, justice will be served. I would hope the so called family man would be a true family man; he would plead guilty, serve his time and set his family free from the “strong hold” and intimidation he has had on them for years.
I Don't think that you'll be talking your way out of this one big boy. I read that she was his wife- Hope that she left his ass and gave him the big Divorce. Good luck in the big house.
Based on videos and Judge Ratcliffs history what do you think will be the final decision….
House arrest
2-5 years
5+ years
Any updates on Mr Bad Ass. Would hate for this one to slip through the cracks.
He was just indicted last month. What the hell do you people expect to happen within a few weeks over a holiday period?
I the lawyer do do what he can to drag it out for awhile. However, I'll be surprised if this goes to trial. If I bet, I bet on pleading guilty.
