Looking for that elusive and woke environmental racism.

Ruh roh. I doubt that they are targeting hizzoner, but most likely the governor, as payback for embarassing hizzoner. Afterall, "environmental racism" is the latest woke buzz word.

Outside and I heard a loud snapping sound coming from Jackson.

What does this mean?

I would feel better about this “investigation” if we were currently under a republican regime. This will never be heard of again.

Anonymous said...

Great! Bring it on. Can we go ahead and investigate other bone-headed decisions going on around here while they're at it?

Under many circumstances, such an investigation would be reasonable, especially since Bryant, Davis, & the News misspent federal TANF funds. But now the brazen deceit of the inept, wastrel mayor, contrasted sharply with the integrity and leadership of Gov Reeves to fix the water emergency, makes a federal investigation even more necessary.

Unfortunately, the current EPA is weaponized against red states and pushes a woke, marxist climate agenda.

Most OIG reports are one sided bias BS. The names of the investigators are never revealed and they are not required to pass a physiological exam like other federal law enforcement . So they can be a pencil necked Barney Fife with a chip on their shoulder looking to smear any public official they choose. Watch for this to be totally political and one sided with our Republican Governor at fault without ever interviewing him or giving him a chance to defend any claims.

"not required to pass a physiological exam like other federal law enforcement . So they can be a pencil necked Barney Fife with a chip on their shoulder looking to smear any public official they choose." And you believe that those having passed a Psychological testing battery can't have a chip on their shoulder? Everything is usually one sided, just depends on what letter sits in power.

Am I the only one who read this as a good thing? I think this investigation will turn up a bunch of wrong doing in the Siemens lawsuit funds and lack of controls over the water funding in Jackson? I think the city has A LOT more to lose from the investigation than the State does.

Does this include the botched siemens deal? If so, lots of nervous folks out there.

Agree that this amounts to a political witch hunt at the state level...but there is no way to ignore the COJ abandonment of its water department. And don't forget, the sewer side of the business is still unacknowledged, unaddressed and unresolved. Here's to hope!!!

"Anyone with knowledge of potential waste, fraud, and abuse relating to EPA operations and programs is encouraged to report it to the OIG Hotline at 1-888-546-8740 or

The entire failure should be investigated and I guess it is EPA's responsibility to spend Taxpayer money to do that. Hopefully the state's decision making policies, regarding review of applications to spend federal money and their decisions behind the choice of where that grant money was spent will be fairly judged and not point out any problems how the state decided where to award grants and spend the money.

IMO, towns like Midnight, Belzona, Yazoo City, Leland, Greenville and so on, deserved money just as much or more than Jackson. As I understand, Jackson may not have een applied for money, which should justify not giving them any.

If the governor or state leaders ignored legitimate applications by Jackson, they need to answer for that. If they distributed the federal money in an equitable way, based on need and participation in the application process, that needs to come out also.

I do uderstand that honesty and politics are as far apart as zero and infinity, so who knows what the outcome of the EPA investigation will be.

This is the EPA's way of covering their tracks to ensure that there is a preponderance of documentation that federal response was swift and that there is no federal responsibility for this disaster.

Expect this investigation to show what we already know. That both the City of Jackson and our State government are inefficient, sub-optimal organizations that are horribly run.

I do hope that it does show and highlight the massive failings by the City though I am sure some things will come up on the State side of things as well.

January cometh, Bennie. Better hurry.

The EPA is signaling its intent to find blame. You won’t hear much about Jackson being given every penny it has requested. You won’t hear about how all the other cities and towns manage to do what Jackson seemingly cannot. When the smoke clears the EPA will say it wasn’t enough to give Jackson the money it asked for. In the case of Jackson they will say the state should have treated Jackson leaders like children and provided for them whether they asked or didn’t.

When it comes to the State this is a big triple-patty nothingburger.

What should be investigated is why the EPA cut Jackson so much slack for so long.

What should be investigated is why the EPA hasn't already come down hard on Jackson for its ongoing criminal (and massive) raw sewage discharges into the Pearl.

Based on the investigation the feds did on Hillary Clinton, I can tell you the outcome.

Will this be a white wash (may I pen that)? Will the city purchase BleachBit to delete records? Will there be a "deep throat" whistle blower? Will the city hire Fawn Hall to shred documents? Is this a "vast right (left) wing conspiracy?" "What difference at this point does it make?"

Inquiring minds want to know, right?

Anonymous said...

It needs to include the millions of raw sewage discharged in to waterways.

This is a very reasonable response by the EPA's OIG. It announces an evaluation and an audit. These terms have specific meanings in the EPA's OIG office.

The first is an evaluation of the EPA and will look at any shortcomings by the EPA itself in the current crisis. Its more of an after-action report to help the EPA improve as an agency.

The second is an audit of how funds distributed by the EPA to the city and state were handled. Actions of the city and the state will be examined, and possibly the EPA itself. The Notification Memo states "The anticipated benefits of this audit include improved operational efficiency to protect human health and the environment". It also states that it will use "generally accepted government auditing standards".

There is nothing in this announcement to indicate any criminal investigation is targeting the city or the state. However, as most of us know, audits can uncover criminal activity.

@1240-The PT screens out most potential bad apples. I was in federal law enforcement and I witnessed several recruits that did not make it.Of course they probably answered yes to the question about “ is it ok to beat the snot out of a potential bad guy in handcuffs when no one is looking.” Kidding.Occasionally we see a bad Fed apple and some State cop that does something wacky but not near as some local untested guys. You ever hear of an OIG investigator getting in trouble for lying?

Anonymous said...

Anyone who thinks the state will come out clean for the way they handled federal money is kidding themselves. I’m certain there will be many problems found with both the city and state. Corruption is just the cost of doing business around here.

The real investigation should be who is behind the "Poor People's Campaign". Every state/region seems to have an offshoot of this organization that on paper are not tied to each other. I'm guessing that helps them to avoid financial reporting requirements but, every time six kooks can be gathered together for a protest photo-op in downtown Jackson, they are surrounded by glossy black and yellow banners, posters, signs, etc. Those are being paid for by someone, along with the payments to all the community organizers and everything else. Track that money back and I'm betting it will eventually lead to some white billionaire with an agenda that has nothing to do with the advancement of minorities.

As another retired Federal investigator, I’d like to continue 2:22’s line of thought. If the City of Jackson had been a private business,

committing continued SafeWater violations, that business would have been padlocked and it’s operators carted off to the pokey.

This will be a fake investigation . Do not know out come but it all be untrue.

@2:22pm For the win!

"What should be investigated is why the EPA cut Jackson so much slack for so long."

That's what this upcoming coverup/deflection will be all about....

You've touched on the definition of a post-mortem. But that ain't what this is at all.

I'm thrilled! It's about damn time!

This will either be an objective investigation, or the final results have already been decided and the EPA IG is just going through the motions.

Considering that hizzoner has not been bloviating about this investigation, methinks that a draft of the final report has been written before the investigation started.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
