Boil Water Notice Lifted for 39211

The city of Jackson issued the following statement.

“We continue to make progress with the recovery from the winter storm water crisis. This evening we are lifting the precautionary boil water notice from the Well System and a portion of the surface water system - ONLY FOR SERVICES in the 39211 zip code.

Testing will continue in the morning for the remaining portions of the surface water system with the goal of having results cleared on Sunday to allow us to lift the order for the remaining zip codes served by the surface water system. There remains a chance that some of the areas with the biggest pressure challenges may not clear by Sunday but should be fully restored on Monday (barring some other unforeseen issue cropping up).

Pressures should be sufficient for schools, colleges, and businesses to reopen on Tuesday after the New Year holiday weekend.”

See attachment for lifted area.  The boil water notice for residents living in zip code 39211 is now lifted.

Sure. Like we are going to drink this stuff…

I just drank it. Seems ok

Chowke waved his magic wand and made it so. Oh wait, that is Chowke's zip code.

Whew! Nothing to worry about now.

Not a lot of confidence generated by the use of words like "chance", "may", "should", and "unforeseen issue". Why bother attempting to give hope when failure has been the more consistent outcome?

The narcissist mayor has his zip code's boil water notice canceled first. He be special. Right?

So, the city decided to follow the boundaries of not-yet-announced future zip codes when they decided the layout of the pipes oh, about 100 years ago? Good to know.

39211? East of 55 and north of Lakeland! Doesn’t sound equitable to me!!! No diversity either!

The water distribution system hews to zip codes? Go ahead Antard, have your children drink out of the tap.

Is the Hilton on County Line considered 39211?

Does anybody in 39205 know where 39211 is?

My advice to all is to leave those pots and pans on the stove-top, at the ready. No sense in putting them back in cabinets or under the sink when you're gonna be gettin' them right back out next week.

To the genius at 8:48...So does arsenic when properly mixed.

39211 is the area of the city closest to the water plant, so pressure returns first, and boil water mandate goes away first. Nothing more.

It's perfect that 39211 was cleared first. It allows Bennie, Lumumba, etc. to continue the farce that the water system is racist. The rich white folks in 39211 got their water back while the poor blacks in south and west Jackson are still without water.

39211 is the ZIP closest to O.B. Curtis, which means it would be the first one to have water pressure fully restored.

How's that gut this morning? Course, could be it's our little tyrant that's got you nauseated.

There was a pharmacist who made a house call to my hotel room in Mexico once, as I lay writhing in pain on the floor from drinking Puerto Vallarta water: he used a giant stainless steel horse syringe to inject one side of my ass with morphine and antibiotic in the other side. Immediate nirvana for $20.

I’ve been drinking this crappy water for 40 years….

There’s nothing wrong with it

Let’s complain about that we can fix…..go round up repeat offenders and bus them to your most hated politicians house.

Some of you are really deliberately uninformed.

Do you not understand that any city government would be stupid not to prioritize the zip codes that contribute a significant amount of revenue?
39211 zip code had fewer leaks, less loss of pressure, less contamination because it was developed by those who lived in their "developments". They didn't cut corners so it is and would always be a quicker fix.
By the way, I built homes and renovated personal homes in Madison and Jackson. Our contract made sure our builder had to follow VA code standards.
In Madison, we never saw a building inspector during construction. In Jackson ,we did for a renovation and a new build.
Even so,both counties have terrible building codes and property maintenance requirements. Codes that were routine in 4 others States where we lived were non-existent here. In Hinds, just picking up limbs and sticks and mowing will do and while a homeowners association and covenants help, good luck coming up with the time funds to pursue enforcement.

I wonder if anyone who's been whining about lack of access to emergency bottled water is now filling jugs while they can.

5:19am and 5:21 am, are you both really that clueless?
I don't need to boil water even when there's an alert. Have you never see a water cooler? Did you never read EPA guidelines on how to continue to use your dishwasher once pressure is restored? And,surely, you know to soak and scrap your cooking utensils before you throw them in the dishwater? I knew that paper/Styrofoam plates, bowls and cups had been invented as well as plastic eating utensils?
Do you not know you can put your own water filtering system into your house?
I understand not everyone can afford these solutions or are at the mercy of a landlord. But, you are nuts not to blame decades of poor construction and maintenance for our water problems. You are pretending they happened in years when it was decades. And, guess what? Smaller towns all over the Nation are experiencing the same problems, especially in poor areas of town.
We make the news because it's a Capitol city and others and the NEWS is that the governance of our State lacks morals to not own up to mistakes. mismanagement and corruption. And, worse, that our citizens continue to put up with legislative incompetence at every level. We do that even watching members of even local government improve their "standard of living" while in office. At best we appear blind to new alligator boots and Rolexes and "makeovers".
Wake up! You have more in common with poor blacks than you have with the wealthy white folks and their elected " pimps".

And to think we are only 9 days into winter and this happened. We cannot predict if another hard freeze will occur, but I’m sure this isn’t the last we have seen of hard freezes this year and many years to come. You can’t blame anyone except the past mayors who have held office since the last good administration left in 1997. If you notice Tate has not issued any kind of statement yet and it affects all government offices downtown. If I were Tate I would work from my home so I could use the potty.
We used to be known as the Crossroads of the South, then it changed several times to one being a Bold New City, to City With Soul and now it has become “City of Soul Where You Can't Flush Your Toilet Bowl”. There ya go I fixed it.

So, y’all are complaining that the notice got lifted?

Y’all are like something out of parks and rec.

39211 is the closest to the Curtis plant. It makes sense that that area would get higher pressure first but I would still not drink it!

Anonymous said...

It's only January keep the buckets filled bound to have another cold snap

@5:21am - There’s a reason they still live in Jackson. Not the best and brightest.

Anonymous said...

How about descending from your ivory suburban towers and alabaster enclaves to help, instead of viciously attacking the Leadership of the city?

Kingfish said...

Only water problems in my area were less pressure. Could still shower, run washer, and all that stuff. Except for one day, the pressure wasn't really off that much and even then maybe 50% at most. Same for the 21 ice storm. 39211 probably got lifted first because it probably didn't have any leaks.

39211 also has newer utility installation, hence better water/sewer/storm drainage/streets because 25+/- years ago, civil engineers were professional and did not have to check boxes for color, Jackson residence or be a political insider.

We have a lot of rain predicted for Monday and Tuesday. This would be a good time to get barrels or a watering trough to collect some rain water. Heck, put some 5 gallon buckets out and do just anything to collect some water to flush with.

“Smaller towns all over the Nation are experiencing the same problems, especially in poor areas of town”, that's a very interesting statement.

I have been studying this issue. Would you kindly link to articles that point to other community water systems with a similar issue as Jackson, MS?

@10:31
You’re exactly right… people were hired based on qualifications rather than color or gender. This mayors office is obsessed with skin color. PhD Omari did numerous papers on stresses based on color and many other race and gender focused agendas. Problem is though… this isn’t academia… it’s the real world and she has NO clue what to do!!!

I’m in 39211 in the rich honky part and have no water

@1:29
I’m in 39211 also and we have water… what part are you in specifically? Not familiar with any news of no water in ne Jackson area

I'm 39211, off meadowbrook road. Had water, low pressure, but toilets could flush. Sund 3 pm, no running water.

Anonymous said...

I'm in Northlake and pressure is low. A friend of mine in 39211 posted on FB that he called 311 because of the low pressure and they told him that something had happened and that 39211 needs to boil water.

Water is the simplest of all services to provide. Every cross roads it the most rural area has water most from a rural water association with little or no real staff. It takes a lot of work to mess up a water system.

Hizzoner stated that the water pressure has been "largely restored." "Largely restored" is like being a little bit pregnant.

When his lips move he be lying said...

Baby Chowke stated that the boiled water notice would be canceled by Saturday. He didn't say which Saturday. Right?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
