A Hinds County grand jury indicted one Lance Moberg for business burglary on December 9. The indictment states:
on or about the 21st day of March, 2022, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdictionof this court, the said defendant being a male human being above the age of eighteen (18) years, whose date of birth is August 21, 1977, did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, break and enter, in the day or night, a shop, store, warehouse, or other building, said building being a business, located at 305 North Congress Street, Jackson, Mississippi, the property of Capital Towers, in which goods, merchandise, equipment, or valuable things are kept for use, sale, deposit, or transportation, with the intent to steal valuables or goods stored therein or to commit a felony therein, all occurring within the jurisdiction of this court and in violation of Section 97-17-33(1), Mississippi Code Annotated (1972, as amended).
Sources said he broke into the St. Andrews Episcopal Church building, climbed some stairs, and entered Capital Towers through a walkway that connects the two building's backsides. Moburg is homeless. He is a suspect in several similar crimes that took place at nearby buildings.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Winston Kidd. Moberg is currently under indictment for a similar crime. The 2020 indictment states:
on, about and Between the 17th day of day of July, 2020, and the 20m day of July, 2020, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court, the said defendant being a male human being above the age of eighteen (18) years, whose date of birth is July 21, 1977, who did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously break and enter, in the day or night, a shop, store, warehouse or other building, said building being Mississippi College School of Law, located at 151 E. Griffith Street, Jackson, Mississippi, n which goods, merchandise, equipment, or valuable things are kept for use sale, deposit or transportation, with the intent to steal valuables or goods stored therein or to commit a felony therein, all occurring within the jurisdiction of this court and in violation of Section §97-17-33(1 ), Mississippi Code Annotated (1972, as amended).
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Tomie Green.
