$600 Million for Jackson Water System

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree....   the Congressional Christmas tree is going to be very, very  good to Jackson.  The FY 2023 Omnibus Appropriations Package is up for a vote in Congress this week.  The bill contains some relief for Jackson's water system:

Congress must pass the bill before December 23.

CHS for sure, and maybe Wicker, will vote against it; then hold an event in Jackson, taking credit. 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is what Chowke wanted all along because "the state wouldn't help him." "Free" money from WDC.

In unrelated news Chokwee just bought a 4th house in Martha's Vinyard

I'm dreaming of an omnibutt pork package rejection by the senate Christmas. Just like the gov't shutdowns we used to know.

With that kind of money available a few people will make out like bandits. NOt willing to name names, but you guys probably already know their initials.

If they are going to insist on using arcane language, they could at least embed links to the statutes and regulations cited, instead of publishing Byzantine bullshit.

The blessing (or curse depending on your perspective) of this arrangement is that the usual suspects will not be eligible to "benefit" from this pot. The City will not be contracting and the State will not be policing. Federal acquisition is a little more rigorous - yes, it will cost more but the work will be completed according to much higher standards.

Broken water mains in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, all because of "open carry," gun shows, and the Rs.

2:30 nailed it. Neither the state GOP parasites nor the Jackson democrat parasites will control the funds. This will be professional grade leaching that will put the locals to shame. The thing about Federal money is that they don’t care if it costs 3x what it should but it damn well better work when they are done.

So Americans who live in Mississippi are about to get American dollars to invest in American infrastructure which will greatly improve the life of fellow Americans.

I am truly excited some funding is coming to my home town.

It’s a wonderful time to be alive.

Rejoice and be grateful.

Mayor's attorneys from years past are already commenting on this and other projects from whence to grift. Same ole same ole **it hole.

Anonymous said...

So we gonna get what, maybe 1.8 Mill?

Anonymous said...

@ 2:30 - "The City will not be contracting and the State will not be policing."

Where did you get that?

Anonymous said...

Let this be a lesson to all of you water system managers in Mississippi:

(1) Get to work early, stay late, do your job, put in the effort, manage your system, take calls at night and on the weekend, and you will be rewarded with ZERO help from the government.

(2) Get to work late, leave early, neglect your responsibilities, show no effort, neglect your system, ignore calls after hours, and you will be rewarded with millions of dollars. You will also be able to call the water system mentioned in example 1 above a bunch of racists and talk about how they are entitled and given everything (even though it's not true).

What a time to be alive!

This was predictable.

Last sentence: "...retain "1,000,000 for management and oversight..."

Addendum: "...shall appoint an overseer who must reside in Jackson..."

Money won't be given directly to Lumumba. It will take 10 years or more to get the work done.

Anonymous said...

If the temps are as cold as the experts are predicting, I see massive water issues for
the Capitol City this weekend.

And I while I hope that doesn't happen ... if it does ... I'm sure there will be another classic & entertaining Sunday afternoon press conference by Stokes.

I know all you Christians are excited your jackson neighbors will in time have potable drinking water not to mention all the jobs!

Think about all the good coming to jackson!

I know your congregations will well up and sing praises for the good fortune of jacksonians !

Why I think the mayor should sell some nft s to show the progress!

I prefer the new Congress to shut down government, dry up the pork, even if it means no $600M for Jackson. Reducing the country's debt is more important than hundreds of pork projects across the country. Wicker is, at best, a RINO.

Anonymous said...

Theca dont you have another shooting to deny happened

Anonymous said...

@6:03. You are correct that I’m crying. I should have worked less, been a lazy piece of crap, cared less, and performed at an incompetent level. Then my system could have gotten the government’s $600 million credit card.

We might want to think about rewarding competence and effort. Instead we are rewarding laziness and incompetence. We are rewarding folks that basically stole from their employer.

Theca Jones of the Roguish Gent Podcast said...

Mississippi, the home of Incompetence. I really hope you don't believe where you live Infrastructure is up to par, or even halfway decent. All of Mississippi will need money soon, and most of the nation.

I'm still loving the crying, though.

The thing about federal projects is they all have to be bonded. To be bonded you have to have assets, credit, and a good bonding history. Showing them your plaques on the wall, plus a sour bond deal will leave out one “contractor” whose name rhymes with Marcus Wallace. If done correctly, this will greatly help Jackson, if done like most Jackson project, the project will fail but Instagram and Facebook will be lit!

So, pray tell, where in the world did $600,000,000 (plus $1,000,000) come from?

Anonymous said...

Republicans squeal about crazy spending and then refuse to block it.

And yes, Cindy and Roger both voted for McConnel to head the Republicans again.

Anonymous said...

$600M plus $750M the state is handing out. Please tell me who is going to do all the work? Not enough competent MS contractors! Out of state contractors you say? Every state around us have gobs of money to spend. And what about finding ditch diggers and materials?

This is going to be the biggest fiasco in the history of contracting. Like post Katrina for the whole country! That $600M won’t go very far very fast!

Having worked hard throughout my lifetime, and having learned to be self reliant from my predecessors, I am appalled at the giddy acceptance of so many from others who always bail them out. And, yes, that includes this federal bailout.

Key word every time is... bailout.

@9:04, federal money comes from thin air. “Our tax dollars” — income tax — pays interest due on T-bills bought by foreign governments, the Chinese, the Brits, the Dutch, to name but a few, and institutional finance entities.

Anything else — water systems, warmaking materiel, Wicker’s salary — the Federal Reserve Bank tells the Bureau of Printing and Engraving how much money to print. Thus the current meme which says “Money machine go brrrrrrrrrrrrr.”

The dollar’s value is based on your faith that it’s worth a dollar.

Federal Contracts doesn’t mean anything. They lose millions of dollars in contracts from incompetent businesses and the businesses get away with it. Just meet the woke government criteria, under bid, hire local idiots/crack heads to do the work, and get paid to do half ass work. The Feds will just find someone else to redo it, happens all the time, no accountability.

As much as we distain Lumumba, he knows how the game is played. Lumumba will acquire more wealth and power being a government leech than the brightest, hardest working, most productive capitalists in the state.

Imagine being mad about Jackson getting funding. Musty old grumps, never happy. No joy.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. How can anybody criticize Jackson getting $600 million, all sorely needed, to repair its water system? Instead, the Rankin County crowd on here spew their tired, false allegations against Mayor Lumumba, who deserves high praise for his part in lobbying the Feds for this money.

Anonymous said...

Attention Mississippi Free Press and Mississippi Today. I dare you to write an article about a successful water/system system and show how it is managed, finances are managed, and infrastructure is maintained and repaired. I dare you to show the hard work and hours put in to make things work well and efficiently. I dare you to do that and contrast it to Jackson. You won't do it because it would destroy your agenda.

I agree that Jackson needs the $600 million. But the only reason they need it is because of their own failures, incompetence, and gross mismanagement.

Anonymous said...

“The sweet taste of losers tears”, to whom do you refer? Is there some competition I was not aware of?

Anonymous said...

At least ol Ted knows what he is dealing with around here, telling WLBT,

“There’s going to be a lot of money chasers, various contractors, snake oil salespeople - everybody and anybody is going to be running around down here trying to find a connection to get into it,” he said. “And so, this is a cautionary tale. We need to be really careful [so we] don’t have a Siemens again.”

Anonymous said...

I am pleased Jackson is getting help because the city leaders are clearly too dumb to effectively run a city and I am impressed with the mayor's use of woke-world to save himself. Genuinely.

Yet I can also be displeased that the inept leaders who caused this mess are being rewarded for being lazy buffoons.

Unlike Thec, I prefer to root for people with work ethic, intelligence and goals.

And I have found that the folks who cheer for the corrupt leaders are often doing so because they are benefitting from the corruption. Educated and sane people get angry when a leader allows them to live in deplorable conditions.

Anonymous said...

Did none of you get the memo that Mississippi gets more federal money than the federal tax dollars we pay?
I'd rather see federal dollars go to needed infrastructure.
The emphasis is on "needed". Needed isn't new sport's venues for celebrity children or making sure the roads to the ballgames are the best roads in the State while neglected roads and bridges and bridges risk lives. Indeed one highly ravelled bridge has 3 lanes instead of 4 as a rail section is gone.

Some of you just don't seem to know you are racist and if you do, don't care.
I'm white and I can even prove my family were here before yours ever arrived and were barely beaten by the Pilgrims...AND we've defended this Nation every damn time. So, spit at the battleship.

"'Twas the week before Christmas, and through the Senate and House, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The earmarks were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The senators were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of pork danced in their heads. No budget was found, just mischief and debt. While the taxpayers hung their poor heads and wept.

Now, McConnell! Now, Schumer! Now, Pelosi and Vixen! On Biden! On Stupid! On Dumber and Blitzen! To debt! To bankruptcy! To free money for all! Now dash, dash away, more cash for all!

This spending season, instead of naughty and nice, Santa brought everyone something regardless of price.

And don’t forget a delicious candy cane, sweet with $40 billion to tide over Ukraine. Because of the climate, it's not PC to leave coal. No one seems to care, because we're trillions in the hole.

Don't worry about leaving the budget a mess. Democrats have given you 87,000 agents of the IRS.

But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, 'Happy bankruptcy to all, and to all a good night'"

3:23 PM, this excerpt from a Dec 12th Taki’s article sums it up:

If I had one wish to be fulfilled this Christmas it would for every U.S. Marine guarding our nation’s embassies to put down their guns and declare a 48-hour strike against the rotten regime in D.C. that chose a black lesbian drug smuggler over an American ex-Marine rotting in a Russian jail since 2018.

The black lesbian basketball player who was chosen over the Marine used to remain seated during the playing of the national anthem, or if she happened to be standing up, she would turn her back and make sure everyone noticed what she thought of Uncle Sam.

America is now a country as loathsome as the Soviet Union once was.

While the Citizens of Jackson certainly deserve potable water, passable Streets, a PD that enforces the Law - it's a crying shame our U.S. Congress rewards total inept Leaders who couldn't balance a Budget to save their Lives. I hope Senators from Ms choose wisely for this Vote--

What a waste. Build a rudimentary high capacity prison instead. Use the prisoners for public work/cleanup projects. Lots of vacant locations.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
