Coach Prime confirmed the University of Colorado offered him its head football coach job during a weekly press conference yesterday. However, the JSU Head Football Coach said Colorado was not the only school trying to hire him away from JSU.
Coach Prime said he was focused on coaching his kids and preparing for the SWAC Championship game.

The collective sigh of relief at the Capitol will be heard across the state. Goodbye Coach. Thanks for everything. No stadium.
He may be tired of the crime, dilapidated infrastructure, and impotent Jackson city government. He's not blind.
Colorado has a chance to get him if they also need a quarterback.
He was/is a living example for Jackson and many other similar cities for what can be accomplished when one person is a selfless leader and visionary, who then implements the action plans WITH his team. ESPN should memorialize his JSU/Jackson story in a documentary.
9:26 I think you are on to something there. I believe Colorado is seeing this hire as a two for one deal.
He has done a lot for JSU and Jackson. I don’t think he will be at JSU much longer, but I’m thankful for the positive impact he has had on the football program, the university, and the city.
As a previous long time resident of CO including college in Boulder, I know most of us never gave a shit about CU football. We instead used our free time to pursue hiking, trail running, climbing, fly fishing, skiing, cycling, and swimming in the reservoirs.
Why watch others' sports activities when we lived in a paradise of active lifestyles?
His biggest asset is that he's not afraid of the players and definitely not afraid to get on their asses.
Discipline. Works every time.
9:12 You are right there will be sighs of relief in Oxford, Starkville, LORMAN, and in various quarters, but there WILL ultimately be a stadium. It just won't be based on the Prime factor, it'll be based on political clout which JSU does not have, and UMC's desire for the Vet's space. (UMC does have clout) So JSU will get a large high school stadium and that will be that. Sorry JSU but enjoy it while you can.
Don’t think Prime is a Boulder, Colorado type guy. He’s more if a southeast & Florida type guy.
10:41 Miss. Vet. Memorial Stadium has been one of the best economic assets in the city of Jackson for years...that's why the "leadership'" is going to tear it down.
If the right offer comes from the state of Texas or Florida, or California, he's gone. Otherwise he stays at JSU until he gets it.
He came to JSU so his kid could play QB. Now that the kid has proven himself, Coach Prime can try the big leagues as long as his kid can come along. Its a package deal.
Winning in the SWAC is different than winning at Colorado. He will think long and hard before making the jump. The kid can only play for so long.
Thanks for posting, KF. I believe I'm a better person for listening to what he has to say.
This would be a horrible move on his part. Stay 2 more years and he will have many more offers
@ 9:58 Discipline ? But he can't keep his on mouth shut. Colorado should pull the offer that is if they actually made one. All he is doing is trying to use Colorado publicly for leverage or he is just saying look at me and how great I am. I would be surprised if another power 5 offered him now that they know he can't keep things on the down low. He's never been a team player and its always been about him.
Colorado? Bye, Son.
Coach Prime is mostly focused on Coach Prime (always has been and always will be).
What the hell has he done for Jackson? Crime is up (again). The streets are shit. And, we are one tick away from a boil water notice all the time. What is better (other than the football team's record)?
Wonder if any JSU players will try to switch over to Colorado U.
1:03 Of course he is using the Colorado offer as leverage. All coaches in the big time do the same damn thing. Lane K. used the Auburn interest as long as he could and Ole Miss will pay the price. Business as usual. Why should Deion not wave the Colorado offer in front all those other interested programs to let them know where he sets the bar. Common sense. In a world of super egos and grossly overpaid coaches what makes Deion so different?
If he stays at JSU he will be incredibly different and deserving of all the accolades we can give him.
Deion is for Deion. If some young person can glean something from him and make themself better, it's a win/win for everyone. Thank you, Deion. If Deion has a choice, he will take a job in the south or as close as he can get. JSU is fortunate to have Deion because he preaches directly to the kids and is truthful with them. Thank you, Deion.
He won’t last 2 years, before his ego and personal life derails this joker!
JSU should make him the President.
Does Boulder have running water and very little crime? If so, they have the leverage.
Most of the negative comments here are from sardonic assholes.
I think coaching is a ministry for Deion, as he has mentioned his commitment to both his religion and HCBUs. He has matured and is raising responsible and talented children. And, he is extending that leadership and mentoring to the athletes at JSU. Money and attention are probably not even in his needs hierarchy anymore.
A lot of people seem to have spend the Thanksgiving holiday betting on football and hitting the bottle.
I think the second paragraph at 7:31 is right. Deion Sanders does not need to climb the coaching ladder to be relevant.

I'm not a big Deion nor JSU fan but he's done a lot for the community. I wish him well where ever he goes. However, I don't think that will be Colorado. (Like the poster above said, they aren't into team sports and could care less about football. They've got too many other things to do.) I do see him jumping to an AAC school (South Florida?) or bottom level P5 school soon. There are lots of differences between the SWAC and FBS football. Flash, talk, and a few better than average FCS players won't win games at that level.
5:09 He'd actually have more administrative and academic qualifications than the guy the IHL made president.
I agree with everything 7:31 said.
To preface my comment, I literally stopped watching professional football because of Deion Sanders. His first interview as a player was a sign of things to come in the NFL. However, as someone who has invested plenty of time at our state's HBCUs, I can say without a doubt that Deion has done an exemplary job at his JSU coaching gig and brings great value to JSU as well as the other schools in the SWAC. I believe it's been over twenty years since anyone in the conference was undefeated, but I could be wrong.
His videos also show a concern about his players that he never showed during his playing days. He has matured, which is something that I never thought would happen.
It'll be a sad day for JSU when he does leave.
