Jackson Municipal Airport Authority CEO Paul Brown resigned today. He was the fourth JMAA CEO since 2019 if two interim CEO's are counted. Mr. Brown assumed the office in January 2020.
JMAA has been without a Chief Financial Officer and a Finance Manager since at least December. The Board of Commissioners approved recruiting a CFO candidate at the March meeting. Mr. Brown recommended a candidate yesterday at the Board meeting. Unfortunately for the CEO, the Board rejected the candidate.
Mr. Brown apparently had enough micromanagement and called it quits.
Over in Jackson, Mayor Lumumba intended to appoint Dr. Geraldine Chaney yesterday at the City Council meeting. Dr. Chaney is a pediatrician. Have no idea why a pediatrician should be on the airport board but then again, the Lumumba Junta is not about competence. Dr. Chaney lives in Ward 2. The Street Committee says Councilwoman Lee wanted to nominate an attorney but the Mayor balked because.... gasp....... he is friends with the Priesters. Can't have that happen (and now you can call this website a gossip blog.)

Did he catch the clap in Paris?
The sooner the state takes over, the better.
There is something TERRIBLY wrong at the airport.
2010 or 2020?
Let’s build a new “International airport” in Madison county.
Taking the fall for the RD @ Hawkins debacle?
When there's that much corruption, you gotta decide if the pay is worth the prison time.
I wouldn't go to prison for no airport job.
Only Airport in the United States where you can not buy a cup of coffee, but there is a food truck outside in the Taxi parking area!!!!
Nice guy with experience…..the Bennie Thompson politics is just too strong…….the state needs to take this airport over. It is sad our airport is so underdeveloped.
Go check youtube for Russian aviation videos. There are former Siberian gulag towns with old Soviet era airports that are nicer than ours. I can almost guarantee that every worker you see in Russian airports are paid less, but have a better work ethic than any of the slobs at JAN. Same work ethic for Pyongyang, Havana, and Tan Son Nhat Airport, in Viet Nam.
Here we have a bunch of grotesque slobs.
Reading his bio from the JMAA press release when he was hired makes me think JAN should have at least had a Krystal, a Waffle House and a damn Taco Bell by now under that dudes leadership.
Could be dealing with the garbage truck parking was the final straw?
Or whiff?
Thos bad boys get ripe in the summer sun. Whether loaded or empty!
@10:08. Are you suggesting these people have kushy jobs?
Paul Brown for Mayor. He's an extremely smart fellow and honest, thats why he left. It's so sad our workforce is so uneducated.
Does anyone have an update on the takeover lawsuit?
Not to beat a dead horse but this is a smelly one: where are the expense reports from the Paris Air Show?
If you had to report to Kenneff Stokes, you would retire also.
Pending at the fifth over a discovery issue.
Jackson will raise a new issue. Reeves rules for city. State appeals. Fifth rules for state. Jackson raises new issue. Rinse. Repeat.
To all of the people complaining about the lack of restaurants at JAN. Nobody has a layover at JAN. It’s not a hub airport. You are only ever there waiting because you arrived too soon before departure, or your ride is too late pick you. They don’t need 30 restaurants like Atlanta or Houston.
I don’t see any way the fifth rules for the state but I’m all ears why you are so sure.
Rather than “take” the airport, which is illegal, the state should either buy the airport or build one in Madison county.
The Bold New City-
No one resigns from an overpaid no-show Jackistan gubment "job" unless the other show is fixin' to drop. This is especially true when one of the benefits includes all-expense paid junkets to Paris, right?
we have southwest back. some airport director did a great job
now get rid of the garbage trucks at a civil airport parking lot. or let the FAA take over JMAA. i’d prefer the later. the feds can’t possibly do a worse job than the city or state at running an airport.
Search box is your friend
Skeeeedaddlin before the shit hits the fan.
I flew out of Jackson last week. The airport is fine. Now, the board may be raiding the cookie jar, but the airport is as good or better than similar sized cities.
Prior to my retirement, I flew in and out of JAN 2 to 3 times a month for 35+ years. The only issue I have is the parking. 1. Expensive and 2. It doesn't make sense to give the rental car companies all that space with too few cars.
@9:30AM
Yes the airport itself is fine. The problem is all the obese slugs, mentally deficient sloths, and grotesque slobs working everywhere from the ticket counter to the TSA.
To all of the people complaining about the lack of restaurants at JAN. ...
Does that make JAN any less of a dump? Jackson now exports its total incompetence.
... but the airport is as good or better than similar sized cities.
You obviously do no flying to similar sized cities in this country. JAN is a dump.
The Jackson Airport must be a terrible place to work - nobody there seems to like their jobs even a little bit.
What's the budget for the oversized, framed pictures of board members, hanging in the airport? Do the departing CEOs get to take theirs when they go, or do they reuse the frames?
With all of that money spent on the junket to Paris the airport should at least have caviar, escargot, and other French delights, right?
Shortly after FAA warns JMAA about trucks, CEO quits. City Council rejects FCC last fall, city attorney quits. Council rejects RD, the good Dr. Williams quits.
It gets even better. JMAA has been deprived of a CFO and Finance Manager since December. Mr. Brown recommended a candidate to the Board. The Board said no. Want to guess what the candidate's color was?
No shocker. Ricky Jones ran out the library director because she was the wrong color.
And the Chief Administrative Officer was terminated about one month ago. CEO leaving, no CFO, and no CAO....smh
I fly out of JAN weekly. And have for many years. It’s my understanding there is no restaurants or coffee shops open because the airport is suing the company they contracted with to run them, because the company did not want to pay rent when they could even open during Covid. That’s why they’ve been close since 2020. No diversity on the airport board. Employees have a bad attitude. Everybody from TSA to gift shop workers say that the airport doesn’t tell them anything.
If you are white- there is no place for you at JAN. Or on the board. NRE!!
Is Paris still on this year? Will the board still pay for our "entertainment" in Paris? Still first class seats?
@ 12:24 PM...the airport has 4 pending federal employment lawsuits. That says alot about the atmosphere!
Brown asking the FAA for a formal read drew the Emperor's ire.
10:43, maybe you are confused about who might be considered like-sized cities. We are not Birmingham, Memphis or New Orleans. Our airport is much better than Mobile, Montgomery, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Gulfport. Do you regularly fly those “similarly sized” airports? They suck compared to JAN.
Paul Brown is a whistleblower who refused to go along with Chokwe Lumumba and the JMAA board's federal rulebreaking.
Good move by Brown. Why waste any more of your career dealing with mental midget like Mayor Gumflapper and his marginal eunuchs on the airport board.
Hey Angelique, he's screws over everybody. All those blind allegiance votes you cast have really paid off.
No Paris Air Show in 2022. But, there's always next year to follow-up on all those cold calls.
Paris, France airshows and fancy trips to Dubai with Robert Martin courtesy of the tax payer, come on Paul!

Why does Lumumba have any say in a FEDERAL airport located in another county in Mississippi.
because it's located in the city of jackson
3:37, that land is inside the city of Jackson. Seriously. I know that’s hard to believe but Jackson annexed that land decades ago to build an airport. And it’s not a “federal” airport. It was paid for and still owned by the city of Jackson.
You know cities can straddle county lines right? So many geography experts on here along with the legal eagles. Many are one in the same.
