The wheels of justice continue to grind on against Beth Ann White. A Hinds County grand jury indicted White for four counts of aggravated DUI on March 25. White stands accused of driving drunk and killing Allison Conaway and her infant son while severely injuring Conaway's two daughters when White crashed into Conaway's vehicle at the intersection of Highway 18 and Springridge Road.
A test taken several hours after the crash at the hospital showed her BAC to be 0.16. A trooper testified there were partially full liquor bottles in her vehicle.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Winston Kidd. Attorney Kevin Camp represents the defendant. Judge Kidd denied bond to White but she filed a motion for bond on April 28. Judge Kidd will hold a hearing on the motion on June 15 at 1:00 PM.
The Conaway family sued White and other defendants in a wrongful death action.
White has a history of DUI arrests. JJ reported on November 3:
Posted below are the court records JJ has managed to unearth so far.
* Case #16-cr-0035: White was charged with an unspecified misdemeanor in 2016. The case was dismissed October 8, 2021 by Special County Court Judge Jess Dickinson. The case was prosecuted by the city of Jackson.
* Case #16-cr-00789: A MHP trooper arrested White on February 17, 2015 four DUI. Hines County Justice Court Judge Tabitha Britton – Porter found White guilty and sentenced her to to pay a $1,000 fine on June 10, 2016. However, she appealed the County Court. The case languished on the docket until Special County Court Judge Jess Dickinson dismissed it a year ago due to the age of the case.
* Case #15-cr-00176: A Jackson Municipal Court Judge convicted her of DUI, careless driving, and driving on the wrong side of the street. White appealed to Hinds County Court. Special County Court Judge Jess Dickinson dismissed the case on October 4, 2021 after the prosecution said it could not prosecute the case due to "reasons beyond its control."
Attorney Marc Brand represented White in the above cases.
Court records show a DUI felony indictment in 2008 against her as well. White pleaded guilty. Judge Tomie Green sentenced her to serve five years in MDOC but suspended four year of the sentence and placed her under house arrest for one year. Judge Green terminated her probation in 2017.

Dust off old sparky.
Thank you Justice Dickinson.
Yes, you were appointed to 'clean up' the docket in Hinds County and you damn sure did that. You cleaned up all those languishing cases by dismissing them. Hell, I could have done that.
Guess the lawyers won again by using the Hinds County Non-Justice system of delay until it gets old, and then get the drunks, crooks, car-jackers, murderers, whatever back on the street.
Before I laud all my thanks on the fine Justice for his hard work dismissing cases, I should also thank the sitting regular Judges here for not doing their damn job and trying cases. Yes, the lawyers might want a delay; yes, the prosecutor might want a delay - but no, you don't have to grant them.
Just read about a prisoner who escaped from her 'work' in Birmingham and was recaptured. She had been sentenced to 20 years for a third degree burglary.
Imagine that - hell, in Hinds County one doesn't get sentenced to 20 years for anything. Third degree burglary, time served and an apology (and in Judge Green's court, the apology comes with a blessing as well.)
If she had an indictment for felony DUI (assuming that the indictment arose from having two prior DUI convictions--not arrests) when did those convictions occur?
The "judicial" systems throughout the nation are the core reason for so much chaos. It serves to provide the appearance of due process, etc. but only to allow lawyers to make a living. Communities then become filled with habitual cancers in them that run their course until the host is rotting from the inside.
This is a death sentence case. By the time we see it go to court and conviction(s) handed down, she'll have died of natural causes.
If cops, who are a threatened species getting less professional and rarer in Jackson, neglect twice to show up to give testimony in court, but a defendant with a clean record appears both times, the case can be dismissed.
We have a shortage of cops, quality and leadership at JPD thanks to our radical, meddling marxist mayor.
Aaron Banks would be a vast improvement as mayor: let's give him a raise.
5:02 well said!
There are several officers (that do a lot of dui work) at JPD. As a defense attorney I sigh at their name because they always show up, take pride in their job, and do it properly. Many other officers I know have thrown in the towel due to frustration and seeing everything too top heavy with few actual working officers but with higher paid people with two assistants each commanding a desk.
Shhhh.
