Our esteemed Senator, the honorable and distinguished Roger Wicker, thinks we should establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine. The Huffington Post reported Monday:
Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) endorsed the idea of creating a no-fly zone over Ukraine amid the Russian invasion of the eastern European country, which grows deadlier by the day as Russian troops lay siege to population centers. “Clearly, in the absence of a U.N. resolution, which Russia would veto, a strong coalition of like-minded nations should step in and seriously consider this,” Wicker told HuffPost on Monday.... But Wicker, who will likely become the next top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee after Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) steps down later this year, argued Russian President Vladimir Putin is “the one escalating this war.” “Tens of thousands of women and children fleeing from Kyiv west have created a humanitarian situation that the international community needs to step in and be involved in,” he argued. Earlier on Monday, Wicker issued a statement knocking Biden for taking “options off the table, including close air support,” amid the conflict in Ukraine. Article
Is Senator Wicker nuts? Hell, let's just establish a good ole fashioned World War I German blockade around Russia. That will really show them Russkies. What does the Senator want? World War III? Does anyone think Russia will not challenge a no-fly zone? Enforcing a no-fly zone means shooting down Russian planes and helicopters. Are we prepared to start shooting down MIG's?
Senator Wicker is talking about establishing a no-fly zone against a military force that has modern MIGs', SAMs, and other assets as well as a willingness to use them.
The pictures are horrific as Russia reenacts the Soviet conquest of Poland in 1939. The Ukranians are making a heroic stand but make no mistake, the Russkies will probably flatten Ukraine before they go home. More than a few military campaigns have struggled at first and most of the Russians' problems are fixable. Hell, it took the Nazis 35 days to conquer Poland and that with Blitzkrieg, Polish cavalry charges, and a Soviet invasion. The question is whether the Russians go "Chechnya" on Ukraine.
By all means provide weapons, supplies, and training to the Ukes. However, going toe to toe in the air with Russia is not dumb, it is NUTS!

Wicker was clapping his ass off at the State of the Union last night.
send his ass to Ukraine.. apparently they are needing people
Wicker is right on the money. I also want to accelerate the collapse of the Military Industrial Complex. The fastest way to do that is by allowing the Putin to obliterate the US Chair Force.
The Ukraine and Russian PEOPLE should not have to pay for Obama/Bidens/Nato/Clintons/Putin/Zelenski's bullshit. This "war" was set in motion 8 years ago and it's par for the course when a DEM is in office. War war war war war war......and asking for a no fly zone is exactly the plan. For what ? To make sure Hunter isn't exposed ? Ukraine has been a cash cow for the Biden family. Burning it hides the fact ? Lol, gotta take this country back before they kill us all.
Ukraine is the victim here. This isn’t some war in the Middle East. This is Putin knowing we have a weak leader and Biden is scared. Republican or democrat doesn’t apply here
Biden is weak. Not a trump guy… however, Putin never threatened this while trump was in lead. Plus I see Germany finally announced they’re paying the full2% of spending budget on nato as trump scolded them for years for not doing meanwhile Americans were paying for Germany’s protection while Gazprom Russians state company of gas supplied Germany there gas
I’m down but only if we invade Russia and take their nukes and their oil.
@10:50 - Roger Wicker wants to start a war and you blame the democrats. Is that supposed to be satire or are you really that delusional?
Wicker's comment is a reaction, the above comment is about causation. There is a difference. ;-)
Putin has a weapon he thinks is capable of destroying the USA with no notice.
Hypersonic weapon technology and its current uses are unknown but believed to be deadly.
Imo the only rationale Putin has for starting a murderous romp through Ukraine is because he knows he can end NATO himself….by ending the USA.
@10:53 - Putin directly threatened this to Trump, but Trump was too dumb to understand he was making a threat. Ignorance really is bliss for the right. Biden is doing a hell of a job handling this. He re-established the close ties with our traditional allies that Trump turned on in Favor of his buddy Putin. He has also managed to keep our troops at arms length from this conflict while Russia digs itself into a massive hole. As far as I am concerned, Biden has shown how a real leader handles dictators and is making Trump and the Republicans look like a bunch of dumbasses.
Why doesn’t he just say out loud he’s a Democrat, he is the perfect example of a Rino, hell we all know it, just come on out of the closet senator .
So Stokes is the only MS politician making sense today? How far have we fallen?
@11:13
Maybe you can enlighten us all on who Biden was telling us to “Go Get Him” at the end of his SOTU speech?
Was he telling Putin to go get Zelinsky?
11:13 ...wow. You really do drink the koolaid . Joe Biden was lucky to get thru his little speech last night....the man is in early dementia ...tried to compare HIS DEAD SON TO THE 13 who died on his watch ! Joe Biden helped overthrow Ukraine in 2014 and installed the current leadership ! Open the eyes to see my man.
Let me guess - Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and Ingalls are large donors.
These people will not think twice about sending your kids off to die in a war to satisfy their defense contractor donors.
Is Wicker saying he would support the US military enforcing a no fly zone over Ukraine? Any of you tough talkers willing to sign up for that duty?
Pols who saber rattle never carry a rifle, only a check book.
It sounds like a good idea.
The problem is that the U.S. has fly from and over NATO countries to do that.
And, they don't agree as they believe it will heightened the chance of human error...RPGs from the ground , for example, taking out a place the being used as an excuse to attack us and NATO.
The risk heightens when you have poorly trained or untrained civilians on the ground.
It's not like we can send an FAA inspection team into a war zone to confirm what kind of weapon made by whom, took down the plane.
I would rather NATO declare Russia in violation of the Helsinki agreement and to tell Putin to cease and withdraw or they will get into the fight and be on "high alert".
Wicker probably well knows the reasons why there a no fly zone hasn't been declared. He is playing party politics.
What does Comrade Cindy have to say on the matter.
I really think Wicker is responding like an American. Some of you really need to check out what that means.
Amen! @12:19 pm
"I wanna fly jets, sir!"
@12:19 said…
I really think Wicker is responding like an American
Wrong. 20 years of Pax-Hebraica warmongering has warped your idea of American patriotism.
I kid you not - our (using that term loosely) President's strong words in the SOTU address last night and these other politicians in Washington is going to get us in a nuclear war where there are NO winners. Putin loosing his marbles and acting "erratic" as many are claiming is NOT the person and this is NOT the right time to be saber rattling against a mad-man.
We have far too many issues here in this country that our politicians can't seem to figure out, so how in the hell are they going to solve that issue over there.
Roger, just go home already. Pick a party and stick with it. But just go home.
Typical boomers. Sucked of the teet of the greatest generation and became the weakest generation in our country's history. Never served or fought in a war because benefit from stability and peace and now do not want to support a no-fly zone.
I think our Senator who actually served in the Air Force has a better idea about this than you people disparaging our troops and calling them the Chair Force.
Completely ruined our economy in 2008 and now in these comments these same boomers want to sit back while the very idea of democracy and rule of law is eroded in Europe like not seen since WW2.
I agree with Wicker. I have faith in our country that if darkness continues to spread, we will be the light that fights back. We will not accept a world majority ruled by ideas contrary to freedom.
KF, I disagree that Wicker's comment is a reaction as you so smugly state, but even accepting your definition it is a hell of a lot more considered thought than your ranting and raving about WWI and II. Your military depth of knowledge can clearly be measured with a toothpick, not a sonar sounding.
Yes, it's easy for you to make your rants but thank God you are not in a position where your opinion actually matters.
But thanks for providing us with your educated thoughts on the potential results of going against Russias MIGs.
@1:56
Please tell us more about these imaginary freedoms of yours. Do you mean the freedom for the CIA to foment coups in sovereign nations like Ukraine? Last time I checked we live in a mass surveillance police state that tortures people. Tax dollars spent to politically indoctrinate our children to hate themselves for being of European descent. Our rights are eroded with every “crisis” and we have a media who slandered Sandman and Rittenhouse as racists while also lying about Russian collusion with the President for nearly 4 years straight. America is occupied by a cabal of globalist, rootless cosmopolitans, who see the people as the enemy to be feared and subjugated.
@1:56, Wicker was a lawyer in the Air Force. Maybe we can ask him and other lawyers to enforce the no fly zone.
@2:07
Funny you try to insult Kingfish’s military knowledge when the latest Russian generation fighters are Stealth Sukhoi SU-XX fighters. The only MiGs still flying are quite dated in comparison.
Didn't Wicker also say he was willing to have nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine? Unfortunately, he has his Senate seat for life. Mississippi hicks will just keep voting him in.
2:16 has nailed it and this thread should now end.
If we get into a conflict with Russia, which I think was the game all along with Putin and Xi, Taiwan will be invaded the next day. And following that North Korea could always lob a missile to Japan or South Korea. When that happens, Iran will invade Iraq with the purpose of eventually invading Israel.
It’s is too likely we will be spread too thin on two fronts, with little domestic energy or manufacturing to support our efforts. We, too, can go bankrupt chasing hostilities just like the Soviet Union did. Wicker wants whatever will secure his future positioning with the MIC when he chairs the armed services committee. He doesn’t believe anything he’s saying - thank goodness.
@3:06
I can 100% guarantee you that we will never get into a conflict with Russia. The USA will never directly engage in warfare with a nuclear armed state. That is how you know Iraq didn’t have WMDs, why Ghadafi is dead, and why Iran and North Korea rattle their sabres with impunity.
Modern America is a bully. And like all bullies, we have a glass jaw. The humiliations of Vietnam and Afghanistan can affirm that fact. God save is when the world stops accepting our money.
@2:16 & @ 2:18
Typical responses from a triggered Boomer. Big yikes especially to 2:16. Get a grip on yourself you borderline traitor and actually go visit other countries. Thank God for the CIA. American is amazing. It is not perfect but we have an amazing country. So many little things you take for granted.
How did Wicker get on the Armed Forces Committee to begin with? Is there a Stennis Seat?
Clearly he is a loose cannon, or to pick up on his comments awhile back about how the US should seriously consider the nuclear option, his avatar is Dr. Strangelove.
@3:44
your troll act is too strong
Senator Rog can't catch a break - called a RINO by the right and a Trump conservative by the left. Which means he is reasonable!
10:23 "Wicker was clapping his ass off at the State of the Union last night."
Americans BETTER start standing together and clapping and stop this petty partisan sh*t!
And Treasonous TRUMP, stating that Putin is genius and American leaders are dumb! He just needs to move to Russia with his boyfriend and see how that works out for him. I "credit" him with the current situation.
2:16 x 1 Million.
Well said.
The foreign policy advice here is about as good as the epidemiological advice under the Covid posts. It’s hard to believe people this stupid exist. Mississippi’s foremost experts!
Who cares about Ukraine, worry about the US, the left and right are using it as smoke and mirrors. Orange Man praises Putin “outrage”, Brandon praises Putin “crickets”. Putin also praised both of them. Funny how people have short term memory when it comes to their party overlords. I guess the only good thing is, is Covid is basically over with now.
@4:37
Let me guess, you are an Alumni of the Henry Kissinger/Paul Wolfowitz School of Political Science and Foreign Policy!
Putin has the balls to use his nuclear stockpile.
Wicker is off his rocker. He needs to stop smoking that DOPE.
I'm building a fallout shelter & stocking up on can food.
Lord help us.
These comments prove I am doing the right thing moving my kids out of this state before your kids corrupt mine. Americans fight for Freedom and against Communism no matter who the president is.
As King said, Wicker will be the head of the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee.
Let that sink in.
Senator Wicker is a leader among men, a patriot and deep thinker, said nobody ever ('cept his momma). Has the man ever in his public life inspired confidence? Really? Answer truthfully. He's an empty suit in a ruffled laundry pile.
Now we move on to Cindy Hyde-Bryant Smith. Now there's the picture of confidence and the voice of leadership. Ho hum.
Bring them both home to the land of raw boo boo and dope.
"These comments prove I am doing the right thing moving my kids out of this state before your kids corrupt mine. Americans fight for Freedom and against Communism no matter who the president is."
Well, send your kids off to die for Ukraine. Mine will die defending America - not some far off country media attempts to brainwash us into caring about.
Madness! Risking nuclear war with an economically small country Russia. Had we stepped up with some type of air power in Ukraine earlier the invasion would not have happened. Russia is not doing this for fun, they feel threatened.
Putin will have a big target to test a hypersonic cruise missile, if the US Navy sails a carrier strike group into the Black Sea. If he doesn’t sink a carrier, then we will get to see how his SU-57’s stack up against the F-35. I would love to watch another excitin war on cable TV. I wish they would’ve done this during the Covid-19 lockdowns!
@7:54
You are feeding a low IQ troll.
They are likely the same person who kept saying “triggered boomers” and other bait nonsense. They are not very good at trolling either.
Anyone who is voicing “genuine” concern about Putin and Ukraine are merely low info sheeple. Don’t waste your time. Focus on securing your preps.
Bottom line is that Putin said this "If Russia can't be part of the world then what's the point". THAT is a telling quote folks. A dying man...an outdated ideology and a steadfast need to "be the man". Don't be so quick to rule out this guy slinging nukes in all directions.
And remember, Wicker and his brethren in D.C. both parties have a large deep bunker they can hide in while waiting for the grass to go back green. Most Americans do not. My guess is that he has one here in the Sip as well.
Putin is praised by the Holy Russian Orthodox Church. Zelensky will be remembered for his corruption, and for his satanic tranny-dance music videos. https://www.bitchute.com/video/eL1nG7xFKgLl/ That’s right! Zelensky was an actor and “artist” before the CIA deposed the former president and installed him.
Right on 216pm:
No idea why the majority of US citizens believe it is okay for the CIA and FBI to spy on citizens. It is strictly prohibited by the Constitution, and I'm sick and tired of weak knee politicians not doing anything about the overreach of the federal government when they control the funding of those agencies of the bureaucratic state.
"Thus, by acquiring bulk data — fiber optic data on hundreds of millions of Americans acquired without search warrants — the CIA could avoid the time and trouble of demonstrating probable cause to a judge. But that time and trouble were intentionally required by the authors of the Fourth Amendment so as to keep the government off our backs.
Not to be outdone by its principal rival, the FBI soon began doing the same thing — gathering bulk data without search warrants."

They are only spying on us to protect all our freedoms!
You don’t have to worry if you don’t have something to hide!

12:21 : Maybe they know where Fauci has run of to. They could also tell us just how much he has made of the "vax" sales in his stock.
Make no mistake Putin is nothing more than a lapdog for the Chinese Communist. The Chicoms are sitting back and smiling at their puppies moves into Ukraine. Remember when they both stood up before the Olympics and stated they were going to challenge the world and no one had better challenge them back. This has been the plan for some time. As long as poo boy knows the chicoms will buy his oil and cover his ass he has no fear of the west! There may be no need to call for a no fly zone over Ukraine because the numbskull in Moscow may target NATO nations next. Then everyone better stock up on food for a very long time!
Starting a no fly zone could cause a nuclear war. Putin can destroy America by pushing a button. Our defense are tiny against a nuclear attack. Most of us and our families would be dead within a short period of time.
Wicker must be a complete idiot, says this Republican.
I'm familiar with the Sukhois. I used MIGs because most people are still familiar with that term and they are still in use although older.
It doesn't take a military expert to understand it is a bad idea to start enforcing a no-fly zone on the Russian air force and helicopters. Are you prepared to go to war against a nuclear power right next to their home turf?
@Kingfish
It’s never good to pander to the lowest common denominator.
KF, in your military educated mind, it may be a bad idea to start enforcing a no-fly zone on the Russian AF in Ukraine. What about after they take over Ukraine and move on into the next country? Or the next? We are committed to do so once they attack a NATO country (actually, we are committed to Ukraine due to the Nunn-Lugar Act following Clinton's move to disarm the nuclear arsenal of Ukraine, but evidently that promised doesn't mean much.)
You think that once we enforce the no-fly zone over Poland it would be any different going up against the Russian MIGs? Maybe Liechtenstein would be the place where we should start, since in your military expertise you think that would be a better place to plant our flag - I'm sure the Liechtenstein military will be able to provide as good a defense as the Ukrainians.
Putin in his mental illness has visions of recreating the USSR, and if he is succcessful in the Ukraine (as he was allowed to be in the Crimea and the outlying territories) he will not stop once he has seized the major cities there, although he will probably have years of insurgencies throughout the country. But he is already threatening to attack Sweeden, and Finland. Should we wait to create a no-fly zone there, after having given up the Ukraine?
Or is it your opinion that we follow the lead of your obvious hero, Neville Chamberlain and let those European wars do whatever the hell they want to? Russia can have it all because if we were to challenge them it might be a tough road to hoe.
Granted, I don't want to see WWIII; and if it occurs it will not be pretty at all. But if we sit back and watch - cause, you know, we can't fight those mighty MIGs - the choice will be in another airspace in another month.
But thanks for your grand observation; in the meantime, I'll take my lead from the follks that have a lot more intelligence information than a blogsite.
