Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann issued the following statement.
The
Mississippi
Senate today unanimously passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 563
condemning the invasion of Ukraine and calling for the state to
immediately cut all ties with Russia.
“Every
morning we see more and more horrors occurring in Ukraine at the hands
of Russia’s leadership,” Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann said. “This
resolution
sends a clear message to the Ukrainian people who are fighting for
their lives: Mississippi supports you, you are in our prayers, and we
will not associate with Russia or its murderous dictator.”
The resolution provides it is the policy of the Mississippi Legislature and the state of Mississippi to sever all economic, financial, and other connections with Russia and its businesses. This would include:
- The sale, purchase, distribution, or storage of alcoholic beverages from Russia at the Department of Revenue;
- The investment of Public Employees Retirement System assets in businesses or financial institutions owned by Russia or its citizens;
- The investment in Russian businesses through the Mississippi Development Authority or other publicly financed economic development projects; or
- The use of Russian vendors for any services or goods for public entities.
If the resolution is approved by the House of Representatives, a copy would be sent to the President of the United States and the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States.

what a load of virtue signaling horseshit
While the barber is sharpening the scissors it would be interesting to understanding if PERS has any financial exposure to Russia.
As heavy as PERS is in stocks, it probably won't be much exposure.
Thank you, Mr. Hosemann, for taking such bold and decisive action instead of wasting the chamber’s time on trivial pursuits like tax reform and teacher pay raises. I expect Putin to start his withdrawal by the end of the week.
Showboating at its worst.
Will Delbert be pouring out the case of Stoli in the legislator's "secret" bar in the Capitol?
Ya'll need to give the GOP leadership some slack. They can only do so much, and addressing really important stuff is beyond their capabilities. This stupid resolution and CRT (the non-existent problem that lives rent free in Republican minds) takes priority over more pressing issues. You know, things that actually affect citizens as described by 12:12 PM above.
Response from the Ukrainian people: "Who?"
Because of Delbert's brave and trail-blazing leadership, Putin has ordered a cease fire and the immediate withdrawal of his troops.
Because of his leadership on the world stage, Delbert has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2022. Now if he would just pour out that Stoli in his office bar.
What's up with all these naysayers spouting the CRT bill was a solution looking for a problem? That's no different than saying building a fire station is a solution looking for a problem. There WILL be a fire, and someone(s) WILL attempt to teach CRT in our schools.
I know some really nice Russian folks here and many are married to Ukranians !! WTF is this dumb sh!t ? Damn man .....Putin and Zelinski are the assholes here ! 223 American biolabs in country since zelinski was installed. Wake up !!
@12:14
The version of Stoli sold in the USA is made in old Soviet bloc countries like Latvia and Poland. And it is produced under license.
Our super majorities are being squandered by neo-Democrats like Delbert Hosemann.
And I thought "Slow Joe" Biden was leading from behind ...
Well not much Russian Vodka makes it to the US, so that’s a waste of time much like giving Jackson a million dollars to study and reduce crime.
There is a very logical reason why this stuff is introduced in the state legislature. These freeloading reps. And senators have to keep introducing this unimportant minutia to prolong the length of time they meet so they can continue to receive their $100.00 plus daily per diem. There is no other logical reason for this stuff.
Thank God this went through. Now, when will some real work get done? You know, the reason we sent them there to do.
They have to have reasons to convene and get that per diem. What a useless piece of legislation to make themselves feel good.
Politics as usual.
1:35 : Along with the free drinks and food they get in the local eateries. Our lives are one big scam at this point. Lol, "at this point". I puked in my mouth writing that.

I’m sorry did Him’s loose a legislative race in the past?
Go Mississippi Go! Will Putin give up his Oxford condo, Grove tailgate tent, and Ole Miss season football tickets as retaliation? After all, everyone in the world wants to be in Oxford during the Fall.
There is valid criticism of Mr. Hosemann here, but he has a lovely name for a bureaucrat, aye, in the Canadian sense of the word "hose".
BTW Delbert, a pay increase not based on merit is a rip off, you hoser.
@12:53 PM - true, but two things. If I penned one of the top shelf brands no one here would know what it is.
Two, Latvia/Estonia (I have visited both countries) have dropped the Stoli name, as it is identified as Russian vodka everywhere.
Next time use a little critical thinking vs. shooting from the hip.
@3:10
You comically don’t seem to really understand the correct usage of “critical thinking” 😂
Doesn't matter because Russia is losing. And because Russia is losing Covid.....oooops Stealth Covid is BACK baby !!! And soon Big Tony will be on CNN ....Dr. Dobbs will un-resign....get your stock in face diapers and vaxxes back up and running sheepsters. Guess viruses pay way better than wars these days.
We should all be willing to tighten our belts and pay more for vodka. Gotta support the team!
@3:54
People need to study Russian military history.
The Russians were losing to Napoleon and Hitler too.
Go check wikipedia to see how that ended.
Putin is a genius. He wants to end this in time for the Ukrainians to plant wheat.
Kingfish (with his haircut bullshit) wastes no time in attempting to make every thread about PERS. Almost as boring as the three-times-a-day bullshit about loomboola.
PERS said it's exposure is all of 0.18%.
I'll try to post something PERS related tomorrow just for you.
I must break Delbert Hosemann!
Goofbert seems to be slipping....he's not a sharp tack anymore.
This is only a deflection of keeping the spot-light away from the
the bloody three way civil war/pissing contest that's been going on within the Mississippi Republican party for the past 24 months.
@3:53 PM - Don't be so critical of my thinking.
So Brave and So Stunning
another example of how the green teeth rednecks in mississippi think they are the epicenter of the world
According to the Madison McDonald's Men's Coffee Club (and one old woman who demands inclusion), Delbert is throwing his hat in the AG ring. Suing foreign dignitaries and penning meaningless accusatory proclamations is required of the office.
Dogbert is jealous of Master-Sgt Gunn's Command and Control of his troops. Had to ensure the vision of Senate troops snapping-to and voting Aye!
Whew, I thought KF's headline was "Russian Revolution," not "Resolution."
I thought the World got better after Rocky IV ?
"Virtue signaling" is not just for libs any longer.
Meanwhile: Every day, the mid-day Supertalk mouthpiece feels obligated to talk about how Delbert was his company lawyer decades ago and what a competent gent Delbert is (as if that matters forty years later). Virtue signaling, sucking up or politicking. You decide.
A f*cking waste of taxpayer money. But we already knew that about the state legislature.
Maybe the D-Man would also do something similar for StealthCovid. Save us D-man...you're are only hope.
