The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
Today, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba joined a prominent list of young elected and public service leaders as he accepted the prestigious John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award from the Harvard Kennedy School. The annual award honors those under the age of 40 who are changing their communities and the country with their commitment to public service.
The awards are presented annually to two exceptional individuals whose contributions in elective office, community service, or advocacy demonstrate the impact and the value of public service in the spirit of President John F. Kennedy. Mayor Lumumba on Saturday joined climate leader Jasmine Sanders in acceptance of the award.
“I am incredibly honored - and humbled - to accept this award,” said Mayor Lumumba. “I am firmly committed to and believe in the self-determination of the residents of Jackson, and I will continue to fight for their fundamental right to not only achieve the American dream, but make it visible as well. I stand on the shoulders of those who have been accepted this award in the past, and I am honored by the Kennedy School for their consideration.”
The Kennedy School said it took note of Mayor Lumumba’s efforts to expand Jackson’s digital economic strength, make community oversight of police more transparent, focus on improving the city’s infrastructure and create an education partnership to improve public schools.
President John F. Kennedy’s grandson, Jacks Schlossberg presented the awards during a virtual ceremony during the Campaign Conference at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
“With his vision for a New Frontier, President Kennedy challenged young Americans to take on great challenges, solve complex problems and work for a better future,” said Schlossberg, who is a member of the New Frontier Awards Committee. “Jasmine Sanders and Mayor Lumumba have each answered President Kennedy’s call to action in our time, taking on some of the greatest challenges facing our country today. Their courage is a reminder that each of us can make a difference.”

HAHAHAHA
Yeah, an honor they will soon regret giving. They clearly haven't been paying attention.
Well, Harvard has obviously NOT been paying close attention to the reality of Chokwe Antar Lumumba, OR Harvard is just plain stupid, OR maybe it's some of both.
Proving this award is pure bullshit.
The first thing I saw after the article were the two words, "No Comments". Allow me to add...
Congrats Mayor! Cue the racist suburb trolls in 3...2...1
It's Jackson, Mississippi. And he's a self-pronounced radical with an African name. WOW. Unbelievable. Maybe he's the next Barak Obama. Maybe he's the next Malcolm X. Maybe... God forbid we find out what he's actually doing in Jackson, Mississippi. But does it really matter? HARVARD.
Digital Economic Strength? Just stop. This is embarrassing.
What a joke
Just like a Nobel prize - they are all PC, inclusive, woke, diverse, etc.
like most awards, it's like prom queen. popularity and what you put down on a piece of paper..
and if the panel that chose him would come to jackson, they would land at the airport, take a limo to the westin. eat at fine restaurants in fondren, highland village, and be driven through belhaven, woodland hills, fondren, eastover....and maybe even given a tour of power apac or something like that...
it would be easy to hide the problems...
Harvard, as most everyone knows, is known for its business school. They should dispatch a few MBA candidates to create a case study of how putting Jackson into receivership will "fix" it and why it's already insolvent.
@9:11
Please give one accomplishment of Lumumba's that deserves a congratulation. Oh and YOU are the troll.
"The annual award honors those under the age of 40 who are changing their communities...."
Well, they're not wrong.
I seem to remember a Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to a president his first month in office...and he had done nothing before or after that day.
If you ever wondered what Harvard has become, this "award" clearly illustrates it. This was an "I can be more woke than you" award by the virtue-signaling, liberal staff at a renowned communist college.
My claims ring true to anyone with a working brain, because you truly could not pick an American mayor with a worse record of accomplishments during his time in office. By any metric you want to choose, Jackson is worse off - in most instances MUCH worse off - than when this "radical" took office. He has brought the city to a point that is beyond repair. Without outside intervention from this point forward, Jackson is done. DONE! All the efforts from Fondren, Belhaven, and NE Jackson are now just a waste of time.
"...digital economic strength"
What in the hell does this mean?
"...focus on improving the city’s infrastructure"
Hmmmm
"...and create...partnership to improve public schools"
How? With whom?
"efforts to," "focus on," and "creating partnerships"
The Peter Principle in action
As one Harvard MBA told me, "our degree isn't much different than an MBA from a Mississippi school. We use the same text books, we study the same material." The difference lies in the "closed club" nature of Harvard. The school is so old and established that the rich will only do business with the graduates like themselves."
I replied that Harvard doesn't seem very diverse.
Harvard and Yale produces clones of themselves, and honor the same.
improving the City's Infrastructure
Every reason that they listed to give Antard the award is complete bullshit.
However, I expect no less from this clown world where we celebrate mental illness and reward failure.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Perception of an award...
I wonder how many conservative mayors Harvard honored. The cities with the most crime and problems are Democratically governed. Cause = Effect.
“I am firmly committed to and believe in the self-determination of the residents of Jackson, and I will continue to fight for their fundamental right to not only achieve the American dream, but make it visible as well." -- ACL
A significant portion of the citizenry ARE making their own decisions -- bad ones -- and it is clearly visible. Why not move on to clean water, paved roads, and crime prevention?
Hollow award for a total empty suit who likely believes that he's truly earned the honor.
Harvard is a prestigious WHITE university.
Mayor Lumumba is a black politician in a predominantly black city in the South.
Racist whites hate Mayor Lumumba who, in their blue and green eyes, is a successful "negro."
Harvard's award pissed directly in the face of those racist. Gotta love it.
"focus on improving the city’s infrastructure and create an education partnership to improve public schools"
This is either a joke or the foundation has been smoking too much medical marajuana.
Early April Fool's joke......right?
Kingfish, do you need some WHITE tissue too?
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
What an unbelievable honor bestowed upon the Mayor of Jackson, to be in a select few nationwide recognized by Harvard. To the trolls on here who love mediocrity and want to tear down such a fine man as Mayor Lumumba, go have another beer and chill. Better yet, check out the latest from Q. It won’t be long now till Trump is restored to his throne, right?
"Organized Jackistan's 'dope boys" to operate in a more efficient and profitable manner outside the reach of the JPD, but with a fallback plan of blessings from the local judiciary." Right?
I think it is safe to say that Harvard doesn’t do their homework before handing out awards. What an absolute joke. Harvard should be embarrassed.
@11:49 AM, tell us what he's actually accomplished. You won't because you can't.
For those of you saying this award was well deserved, what are a couple of Lumumba’s accomplishments in the last 4-5 years or….ever. Jackson’s water doesn’t work. The potholes will swallow your car. Crime is such that many people avoid Jackson. Businesses have pulled out. The trash pick-up debacle has become a 3-ring circus. That’s just what I can think of off the top of my head. What have you got as far as positives? Oh…and the school system is a failure pretty much by any standard. Lumumba is great why?
On the other hand, maybe he should be in marketing. Sounds like he can sell failure as an amazing success.
How embarrassing for Harvard.
lol 😂 @ all the mediocre white male fragility
I guess it’s tough on the ego when you can no longer brag publicly about your klan awards!
I can't believe y'all are saying Chowke has no accomplishments. I mean, come on. Here's an obvious one:
Chowke successfully identified the only city service that remains reliable and efficient, and worked VERY hard to completely screw it up, allegedly for personal gain. Due to his efforts, there's a very real possibility of no trash pick up whatsoever starting next week, while he uses loads of tax payer dollars to enrich his lawyers.
And he did all this while "smoking that dope!!" (allegedly). It's pretty impressive.
"...who are changing their communities and the country with their commitment to public service." Hahaha...
This is all he cares about, awards and magazine covers, while Jackson burns.
1:03, Dude Cmon. What’s even worse than Chockwe receiving an award based on those specific topics, is that people like you, think it’s deserved. What you reverse racists don’t understand, is that people in general want to prosper. We don’t give a shit what color you are, we simply want competent leadership so that when we go to work everyday and earn an honest living, the fucking mayor doesn’t screw up everything you and I pay for. I’m assuming you buy things in Jackson.
Wake up or your dumbass is going to wish folks were as racists as you claim they are.
@12:39
He helped reduce a once prosperous small city into an uncivilized third world hell hole.
The people who really ought to present Lumumba an award are the merchants and tax collectors of Madison and Rankin counties. He has successfully shifted the majority of Jackson's retail business (and the sale tax that goes with it) to the surrounding counties as Jackson sinks slowly into the sewer.
1:03 guess what? We can hate both the klan and an arrogant black man causing harm to his city and his race!
"Oh and YOU are the troll."
Trolls arguing with each other. Pure comedy.
If Harvard reps were invited to come and see the Mayor's handiworks, there is a good chance that they would leave with a better understanding of the term, "Potempkin" as an adjective. As in villages, forests, cities, awards, universities, etc.
The mayor of raw boo boo.
That’s his accomplishment.
There seems to be a lot of hatred and jealously in these posts.
He's in good company. Stacy Abrams, Spartacus, and other race baiting loudmouths and buffoons. So proud.
If the criteria for the award is to be an anticop, Woke, antiwhite progressive or self loathing white savior, he's got this and many other "Woke Wins" ahead. As his city crumbles, like Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, and DC. Hmmmm. Seems to be a pattern there.
2:50 "Harvard reps" don't come to Mississippi. They rely on reports from people like Lumumba to inform them of the horrors of living in Mississippi. After listening to them they probably believe Lumumba is another Nelson Mandela.
Harvard . . . is lost.
Except for 11:49 and 1:03, it’s unanimous—44 (now 45) to 2. Incredible what he is doing to the City.
I went to Harvard. They make a nice t-shirt.
Woke = Broke is a catchy phrase or bumper sticker. I need to get on that after the STOKES hats.
This says a lot about both of them.
I enjoy reading about how the trolls whitewash LaMumboJumbo.
Big Stroke should’ve Will Smith’d Antard for projecting the corruption slur against him.
Are we sure the award wasn’t actually from the Harvard Lampoon?
Of the five comments I read supporting the mayor, all but one expressed overtly-racist motivations for doing so.
If the primary reason for backing Lumumba is poking whitey in the eye, then it's no wonder Jackson is failing in every other category, e.g., homicide rate, car-jackings, public education, water, sewer, transparency, etc.
Lumumba II is well into his second term. That's long enough for his administration to be judged by its track record, which speaks for itself.
We can officially move Harvard to the next notch down on the totem pole now.
