The Mississippi Supreme Court issued the following statement.
Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Randolph issued an emergency order on Thursday, Dec. 30, extending the time for COVID-19 safeguards in all courts and giving individual judges discretion to postpone jury trials scheduled through Jan. 14, 2022.
Emergency Administrative Order 25 is the fourth emergency order issued since August which allows judges to postpone jury trials. Judges who preside over drug intervention courts also are authorized to modify scheduling of drug testing and home supervision of participants.
The Dec. 30 order leaves in effect other safety provisions reimplemented Aug. 5, including using teleconferencing, videoconferencing and electronic filing to limit in-person contact in courts, and allowing felony plea hearings, felony sentencing hearings and probation violation hearings to be conducted remotely by way of interactive audiovisual equipment.
Chief Justice Randolph reemphasized in the most recent order that “all local and state courts—municipal, justice, county, chancery, circuit, and appellate courts—shall remain open to ensure the fulfillment of their constitutional and statutory duties.”
Chief Justice Randolph said in the Dec. 30 order, “Unfortunately, circumstances continue to deteriorate. In addition to the Delta variant of COVID-19, our State now faces the Omicron variant, which accounts for more than 60 % of the new reported cases, according to State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers. These variants are more contagious and spreading multiple times faster than the original strains. As of December 14, 2021, there were 575 new COVID-19 confirmed infections in Mississippi. Approximately two weeks later, the number of confirmed cases increased more than eightfold, to 4,885 cases. The Mississippi Department of Health reports that number includes over 4,700 persons who were not vaccinated, representing 97 % of the new cases.”

Screw the unvaccinated. The rest of us wants/needs to get on with life.
Wish Darwin would work faster.
Buford T Justice knows more about justice than these clowns.
You wouldn't know an unvaccinated person if they stood right next to you 8:09.
@ 9:34pm
What part of The Mississippi Department of Health reports that number includes over 4,700 persons who were not vaccinated, representing 97 % of the new cases did you not understand 🤔
Can one of the smart internet lawyers explain what this means in plain English?
@8:09, If you’re vaccinated, why are you worried?
Also, normal, non-mentally ill people have been going on with life, as normal, for 2 years now
@8:53, Darwin is speeding up his work, the vaccinated are getting hit with the antibody dependent enhancement pretty hard. Just as we have been warming about for a year now
@8:29am - What the hell is the “antibody dependent enhancement?” Turn off InfoWars.
Turn off InfoWars.
Feel better?
@7:39:
It means the First Judicial District of Hinds County will be even less efficiently run and more back-logged than ever.
@9:42 “Because I am not aware of a thing, the thing isn’t real. It must have come from some conspiracy nut. Vaccines good, government loves me and wants me to be healthy.”
8:09….. There once was a man from Nantucket……..
8:28, there are a number of people because of age or medication that vaccinations don't work as well for. You can see it in the hospitalization and death numbers. While only 3% of cases are among the vaccinated, 13% of the hospitalizations and 27% of the deaths were vaccinated. While vaccines are preventing most of the cases, if you are in the unlucky group for whom vaccines aren't as effective then your chances of dying begin to approach the same as an unvaccinated person.
I would rather see people taking reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the disease into the elderly and into nursing homes as much as practical. We don't need shutdowns, but people going on as if nothing is happening is what is continuing to make Mississippi the #1 state in the nation for per-capita deaths. People value their convenience over others' lives, even as hospitalizations and deaths start to climb again.
I call BS on the 97% stat. That doesn’t match reality or i know all 3%.
Yeah, I’m pro-vaccine and there’s no way that 97% of the 4,900 positive tests from Wednesday are unvaccinated. Not sure where the Supreme Court got that number and somehow thought it was accurate enough to put in the order, but someone messed up.
Most everyone I know that has had covid recently is vaccinated. I know probably 12-13. vaccinated people but only 2 unvaccinated. Most people I know are vaccinated, but I know at least 20-30 that aren’t
.
Mississippi Supreme Court = Dirt Dumb Rednecks with law degrees
Just a bunch of BS artists and they know it. They laugh at the plebes of the 'Sip.
As opposed to the rest of the state who are just dirt dumb rednecks.
The term "vaccinated" has now become fluid. Define vaccinated! The low percentage numbers amoung those vaccinated is because fully vaccinated now means having both original shots and being boosted! if you are not boosted you are not "vaccinated".
Word games!!
12:15 - I'm confident you knew what you were trying to say, but what you said is probably reflective of your confidence.
