Clinton police arrested David Tyler for carjacking an 80-year-old woman yesterday at the Walmart on Highway 80. Tyler tried to make the crime a family affair as he brought his 15 and three-year-old nephews to the carjacking.
JPD initiated a pursuit that ended near Terry. Byram police and Hinds County deputies assisted in the capture of the suspect. The two boys were not in the stolen vehicle but were in the vehicle Tyler rode in as he scouted the parking lot earlier.
Clinton police charged him with carjacking. JPD felony fleeing and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Once they are through with him today, the feds are likely going to charge him for a gun crime is well.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted him in 2016 for a house burglary and stealing a firearm in 2015. He pleaded guilty in 2019. Judge Tomie Green sentenced him to serve 20 years in prison but suspended 13 years of the sentence. However, he was footloose and fancy free yesterday.

If you want a car to carjack in, or want to rob a store for some free stuff, or maybe even shoot someone, do it in Hinds County, Mississippi. Then ask for Judge Tomie T. Green so you can get your blessings.
OK, riddle me this. Who's failure was it that this thug was able to walk the streets (or ride the parking lots) today?
If two years ago he was sentenced to 20 years with 13 suspended (a system that has never made sense to me anyway, but - to get back on today's question) by my math that says he should be in the big house until sometime in 2026, plus or minus.
This is 2021. Why wasn't he in jail? Judicial system? LEOs? MDOC? Parole Board? Who didn't do their job?
Another Outstanding Democrat
Guess who, it's Tomie!
What?! No WAY!
He looks like such a nice guy!
Mayor Lumumba made a statement that joblessness and poverty causes crime.
I propose that this monater is an example who proves that low IQ and basic savagery are the real cause.
Just look at that face and those eyes.
That’s not a man.
That’s a violent predator.
Thee mayor or the jacker?
Outstanding person to carjack an 80 year old. Glad she didn’t shoot him. She would be the one facing Charges.
The Mafia (do they still exist?) needs to start a grocery chain where it costs a little more, but your safety is guaranteed as you walk into the store and back to your car.
Our government can't seem to make it happen. Perhaps the Gambino family can do it.
THERE YOU HAVE IT!
"Where did you get those nice porkchops?"
"Bought them in the meat dept at Gambino's yesterday."
Don't mess with Clinton!!
Did an LEO bust his lip or are those lip burns from a red hot crack pipe?
Clinton PD chief stated that they are seeking federal prosecution. It seems that this would be the only way that this thug will go to prison.
6:54. i'd shop there. probably a better selection of meats and cheeses than kroger..
One day, one of these fools/savages that Judge Green let off easy will kill someone!!!
To 6:54 - I totally agree with your position on the Mafia. During my college days (approximately 50 years ago) we thought nothing of roaming the alleys of the French Quarters at all hours of the night because we knew we were safe. In those days the Mafia controlled New Orleans, and it was a much safer place than it is now. My children were told not to follow my example - mainly because I feared for their safety since "law and order cleaned up the city" and put the Mafia "in their place". Oh for the good ole days.
Sad to think how the odds are stacked against those two nephews.
6:54. I could use a little Genco olive oil………………….Godfather. If I had only come to you first….
It's funny to hear people glaring over the days of the mafia. LOL!!!
First things first, the mob down here was the Dixie Mafia and they weren't organized.
The La Costra Nostra that ran the northeast is weaker than the pipes in Jackson and now are just a shell of their former selves.
The true power players in organized crime are the Russian mob and they are not really about "protecting" the assets/human capital in their territories.
The good news, this place is unattractive to the Russian mob - there's nothing alluring to this place. No opulence, no splendor, just dry po'dunkness everywhere.
Be careful for what you wish for.
