Surprise. Mississippi ranks as one of the worst states for participating in the Covid-19 vaccine program. Only seven states had fewer citizens vaccinated. The New York Times reported:
Mississippi officials said at least 62,600 doses had arrived. Thousands of additional doses for long-term care facilities were also expected in the state. More than 4,500 doses had been administered.Rest of article.
Good job, Mississippi, good job.

Some of those stats are suspect. How can they be an even number, i.e. 89,000 (NY), 30,000 (Washington), 33,000 (Indiana), 14,000 (NM)...
Mississippians are tough. They don't need no stinkin' vaccine.
Let somebody else be the guinea pigs for starters
I wish I could get one of those vaccines that we aren’t using. I guess the politicians and their donors have to get theirs first and then the healthcare workers and nursing homes, then the rest of us plebeians can get the leftovers sometime in the next few years.
I’m doing my part to keep us on the bottom. No COVID shot for me.
I'm glad there are so many anti-vaxxers.
That means those of us that don't wear tin foil hats just moved up in the Vaccination line.
Want a shot? Get it. Some of us aren’t high risk and will defer to those that are
I would say 4:41 is a moronic jackass, but I suspect he's just a troll.
I’ve already had Covid-19 so what benefits would I get from the vaccine?
Btw I have experienced worse flu symptoms than the symptoms of COVID-19
I went to several COVID parties and when I finally tested positive it was the biggest nothingburger ever.
The vaccine is pointless unless you are an elderly, a fatass, or have HIV/AIDS.
Where is Big Mouth Donna? Shouldn’t he be a voice of leadership in getting this inoculation into the arms of the public?
Does anyone know how MS passed some of the world's best vaccine laws for children but had the highest level of vaccine ignorance when it come to covid? Is MS really that captivated by Trump's BS? I really want to know. My theory is that MS citizens don't realize how effective our childhood vaccine laws are.
I’ll take it
Saw a story a few days ago from a spokesman for the University Medical Center that only about half the frontline medical people that were offered took the vaccine. Scary when medical people refuse the vaccine.
@5:48pm - I’d imagine 99% of Mississippians have no idea what the hell you’re talking about, like most things. Our unwashed, uneducated masses probably rival 3rd world countries in inner Africa when it comes to ignorance. The problem with our ignorant population is that they’re WILLFULLY ignorant, which makes them the worst.
I find it hard to believe how, when the overwhelming majority of posters on this site are highly critical of public officials, big business, etc etc are so quick to jump on board with big business, public officials on the vaccine. People want to buy into the "glittering solution" I suppose.
Who knows if it will work, it's not like it was really tested, seeing how they are using technology never used before. Heck for all we know it may create larger problems down the road.
Duh, we have been pretty much lied to about everything, but let's trust em now... cause this will end it, and we can get back to normal!
HELLO...HELLO... there is no normal to go back to, get used to it
And who's at fault here? I'd take it tomorrow if it was possible to get it. But, being 73 years old, I'm behind all the politicians and the administrative staffs of our hospitals.
The rankings for the number of shots given were pretty consistent with where the states fall in terms of population. Mississippi is around 35th in population and is situated in about the same spot on the vaccination list.
@7:10pm - Jesus dude, go back to posting on the QAnon forums ya ignorant redneck. mRNA vaccines have been studied and in development for over 15 years. Covid just provided the perfect candidate to roll out widespread phase 3 trials because of the amount of idiots out there spreading it actually helps with vaccine development and testing.
For all of you people who cannot wait to take the vaccine, please understand that NONE of the COVID vaccines have been APPROVED by the FDA. I'll leave it up to you to decide if you trust your government enough to be a "test subject" for those who choose to wait on this. An EUA and FDA Aooroval are two different things.

Maybe just smart enough to smell a rat.
7:42 - knock yourself out, sorry to offend you to the point of calling me an ignorant redneck. I guess I don’t understand the nuts and bolts of mRNA vaccines,
" mRNA vaccines have been studied and in development for over 15 years."
And if this one is proven to work, it will be the first mRNA vaccine proven to work.

The people (or person) posting most of the insults, most of the bullying, most of the Covid-19 hysteria, most of the guilt tactics, most of the attempts at mental manipulation - the ones calling us "rednecks", "ignorant", "conspiracy theorists", and "tinfoilhatters", are PAID for their posts, by entities working with or within the Covid Industry.
They aren't paid much. They get barely enough, at the end of the day, for a bottle of vodka, or a meth rock, and some Ramen noodles or some peanut butter cups. But that's OK, since they live with "Mom", or in the utility room behind their brother-in-law's garage, or in institutional arrangements. They don't have to pay rent or utilities, so a-quarter-a-post, is enough to get them what they need.
Sometimes, posts from wretched creatures like that, outnumber posts from real people.
Dear Dr. Welby: how many of those 'approved by the FDA' medicines have turned out to cause some other problem? Jeez, just watch the lawyer commercials on tv any time of the day. So much for FDA approval.
Amazing how Trump simultaneously takes credit for the vaccine while his moronic supporters claim it is a globalist conspiracy by Bill Gates to sterilize them.
It's Trump's Vaccine... TAKE IT!
I've taken every other vaccine since childhood, and I will take this one also. Mississippi has always been at the bottom of every good list because this state is full of ignorant, nonprogressive people. I'm so tired of hearing people say that COVID is no worse than the flu. Well, hell, I don't want the flu either. I had the flu once and literally thought I was going die.
4:03, incorrect. But, if someone will let me jump ahead in line because of being a donor, count me in.
I think pall-bearers should be in line ahead of politicians and pill-pushers. They even come first in the dictionary.
@9:17 I’m not saying it’s aliens..........but it’s aliens.
My spot in line says over 200000 Mississippians and 6500 folks in Madison County are ahead of me in line. I am 63, and have a couple of underlying conditions. At this rate it will be late summer early fall 2021 before I can get it. Operation Wrap speed is just another failure in a long list of failures.
The 41yo Congressman-elect from LA who died of Covid had no underlying conditions reported. He leaves behind a young family and a life of service. That’s not the flu.
"Man wearing tinfoil hat thinks people making fun of him are being paid to do so. Adds tinfoil underwear to ensemble."
It’s hard to get a shot when UMMC and MDOH are hoarding them all. I get a daily update on the roll out. The only newer development is that apparently Walgreens and CVS are getting does for the nursing homes, that completely bypass both agencies.
Of course neither can do anything but complain and say “more information is forthcoming”.
We knew for months that the vaccine was on they way, and the best MDOH could produce, is a draft plan that they aren’t even following.
It doesn't matter how Covid-19 affected you if you tested positive. Once you have it you become an infection distribution center to others around you. Covid-19 is a highly contagious, airborne virus that can spread rapidly and is fatal to some.
We are very lucky this isn't SARS or MERS because many more would already be dead
Selfishly spreading the disease to others because people don't want to wear a mask, social distance or think this is hoax to prevent Trump form reelection is nonsense.
I’m not putting anything in my body if I don’t know what is in it. Sorry, but I got to go....my hotdogs are almost ready.
7:37 Take a better look at the list. It is sorted by doses allocated, not by doses given. Mississippi has only actually given 4,500 vaccines, and as a percentage of population that is way down on the list. Minnesota, Kansas, Hawaii, and Ohio are worse
Seniors (65 and up) are receiving the vaccine starting today in Florida.
https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2020/12/28/heres-how-you-will-know-when-you-can-get-the-covid-19-vaccine-in-florida/
Since states are allocated the vaccine on the basis of population, can we assume Mississippi is soon to follow? Are we 1-2 weeks behind? If so, what date?
Most states are very transparent. They show (daily) how many vaccine doses have been allotted and how many administered. Why don’t we have that for Mississippi?
The New York Times is tracking allocation, distribution and administration. Who is holding our state’s government to be accountable on a daily basis?
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/covid-19-vaccine-doses.html
It is interesting to see the numerous column inches the Clarion Ledger devotes each day to the number of people infected; the number in the hospital; the number who have died. But we need to move beyond that. People now need to know when the vaccine will be distributed and how and when they will receive it. Why isn’t that part of the demand for accountability from the state every day?
KF - you need to give us the definitive word on the vaccine. Can you tell us what the DeSoto County coroner's opinion of the vaccine is? He'll know all about science and the Chinese and Fauci and Trump and stuff.
@7:06.... the congressman died from a heart attack while he had Covid. Does that mean he died from Covid? Hell if I know.
This is a political "hot potato" that may do our own "Tater" in.
This report is bogus!!
