Governor Holds Daily Covid-19 Briefing

Topic today: Food Production/Supply.

Governor Tate Reeves is holding his daily Covid-19 briefing right now.  Today's guest stars are Ag Commish Andy Gipson and famed restaurateur Robert St. John.*  The briefing is streamed below.

* State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said 246 new cases and 11 deaths today.  150 deaths are blacks while 109 are white.  93 deaths are among nursing home residents. Hospitalizations are increasing but vents and ICU's are stable.  Some hospital capacity is tightening due to the virus and admission of patients for other reasons.

* The Commish placed his white hat on the table.  Really?

* Commissioner Gipson lauded the Mississippi Farm Corps program for veterans or soldiers who need jobs. Website.

*Speaker of House and Lieutenant Governor told DFA to hold $1.25 billion in CARES Act funds for their use.  Governor said the legislature has the authority to "appropriate money."  The Governor said "I don't give a damn who is in charge of the money."  He said what matters is the people who need it "now."  He said the program needs to be flexible in case the pandemic returns in the fall.  He said "politics and bureaucracy shouldn't cost Mississippians money they need."   "It is very clear the executive has the ability, and has to have the ability to expend the funds for all Mississippians," said the Governor.

* Bobby Harrison asked how this was different than the tobacco padnahship. The Governor said it was a good question and said it was state money diverted by a judge to a non-profit. He said the law is clear on the use of federal money.  One can almost taste media saliva as reporters drool over this fight.

* Clarion-Ledger reporter asked if Covid-19 deaths were undercounted.  Dr. Dobbs said there are probably some not included in testing count but there was no evidence it was a substantial group.  He said death certificates are under review.

I was reading that Covid 19 has killed more people than the Vietnam war. This means that war is safer than Covid 19. There are many countries who are not taking Covid 19 serious. We need to take some military action against those countries and stop the spread of Covid 19!

@ 3:57. The estimated death toll in World War II of 62 to 78 million, making it the deadliest war ever. This is what the sheep in this state and country claimed was going to happen to us. Bit shy of that number wouldn't you agree. Also betting you wouldn't even take part in the so called military actions you are advocating. Stay hidden and we will let you know when you can out. Don't think you would be able to handle a real crisis. Sheep.

" the ag commissioner starts taking about some programs to provide to put mississippians to work on the farms " .

Give him a break, at least he wasn't wearing his ten gallon 'Hoss' Cartwright hat.

Mrs. Governor is going to have to wash Tate's mouth out with soap tonight. His language got a bit salty today at the press briefing.

I was impressed.

Total American deaths in WW2 was 419,400. We'll hit at least half that amount from COVID. Without mitigation we would easily double the American losses.

Mr. "White Hat" Gibson obviously hasn't served in our military --- and sure as hell doesn't understand a United States Marine. I looked at these jobs and they are seasonal and grunt labor -- not NO, but Hell NO!

The peanut gallery on JJ seems to be extra salty but also very stale. You guys need to work on new material.

4:55, the total death toll of Americans in WWII was "only" .32 percent in the US. Dragging up global totals from all causes is just a joke.

We are running 4 times that death toll rate with COVID.

WWII death rates weren't an effing joke back then, but folks followed simple rules. Food was rationed, tires and gas rationed, folks planted victory gardens, most young men went into uniform or a factory, and lots of women went to work, too.

Folks in the middle of Kansas didn't bitch about having to have blackout curtains even if it seemed unlikely they were needed. They didn't paint their truck with flags about "tyranny" and wave rifles about like our FreeDumb Tea Party "Patriots." LMAO. Talk about sheep. Traitor sheep who don't care about others. Just money. And they follow the orders from rich guys blindly and ignorantly.

Let me quote a better veteran than me, Screaming Eagle Whidden, 96 years of age, D Day jump veteran:

"Whidden compared the current pandemic to World War II, saying that in some ways the pandemic is worse.

"People weren't dying at home," he said. "(But the pandemic) is affecting all the people at home. So many people have passed on, which is so sad, even before their time."

But, Whidden said, if the virus has one upside, it's that everybody has started to come together, just like during the war."

I'm sure a keyboard commando with a blank DD214 like you enjoys calling him a sheep, tough guy, because he suggests we are all in this together, for the duration.

Except guys like you, I guess.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
