Nice ad. It's time for folks to wake up. We've become the most corrupt state in the country while our AG and Auditor have been alternating between asleep at the wheel and crowing about penny-ante convictions. We're stuck with sad Stacy for another four years, but we can still do something about Hood.

No we are not stuck with Pickersham. Of course some of you will blindly vote for a corrupt Repugnantcan before ever choosing to vote for a Democrat.

Yeah, nice homespun ad, but couldn't we all do without the Christian Identity politics and "taking the fight" to a President that has one year left? What the hell does any of that matter? Sorry, but this "non-politician" sure knows how to use the dog whistle. Not impressed.

I, unlike 12:04, am impressed with this man. He has the credentials and he lives here. Does not have an office outside of Jackson. He has promised to spread any NECESSARY outside attorneys required around and not just big supporters and already millionaire friends being hired and payed by the State of Mississippi. I believe every thinking Mississippian will realized we didn't get the title of being "Most Corrupt" without laxness on the part of the AG's office.

I don't understand the recurrent desire of Republican AG candidates to run against Obama, rather than running againts Hood.

Or rather, I can understand it; it's just dumb.

I hear all the republican talking points about Hood. And yet I remain completely unconvinced that we need a change in AG. Personally I like at least a little bit of power balance and accountability.

Remember Heather Spencer when you want to keep Hood in office.

"Personally I like at least a little bit of power balance and accountability."

I'm a Dem, & that is what I fear we are NOT getting from Hood.

But Hurst insists on running as a partisan, so he doesn't inspire confidence. Devil you know, etc.

Smarter would be to run as neutral do-right guy who wouldn't shelter Hood's cronies, etc. I mean, Hood has the State suing Google ... how many Miss. folks think that's a good use of time/money? Esp when you see who he's doing it for?

Anonymous said...

Well, it won't be Robert Gray, LOL. But, why would you keep someone in the AG's office just because they are Democrat if someone else could do a better job cleaning up problems and spending less taxpayer dollars?

The problem with corruption on the state and local level starts with the laws that written by the MS legislature. Neither the Governor, Lt. Governor, or Speaker are proposing any laws to address the issue.

Anonymous said...

You will notice that you are beginning to see Hurst signs next to Bryant signs. Is Hurst gonna just be a puppet for the Governor to carry his water?

Anonymous said...

Solid ad. Wish he'd lay off the "christian values" schtick but understand that you have to pander to the rednecks to win statewide election.

Heather Spencer. Insurance fiasco after Katrina. Scrugg is like family. Outsourcing legal matters. Few corruption cases. And the list goes on and on. Enough is enough. No one / no corporation shout be above the law. Hood needs to go. If he can't or won't do what he had been elected to do, he needs to be defeated in Novembet.

Wow, what original stuff for Mississippi, I am such a Christian and I will fight President Obama, who nobody even talks about anymore since Trump is now 24/7 on every screen in the world. What a great AG this genius would make. His first corruption case could be Stacey Pickering I assume???

Blame Trump on the GOP establishment.

An excerpt from the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s latest report, The Nation’s Worst State Attorneys General 2015, which names six of the worst offenders:

"Rated the second worst attorney general is Mississippi’s Jim Hood, who has prosecuted businesses to benefit campaign contributors and has helped enrich corrupt trial lawyers.

Hood has a history of hiring outside lawyers to handle state lawsuits, in exchange for big payouts for the lawyers bringing them. In cases involving MCI and Microsoft, the Mississippi Supreme Court ruled that he violated state law by allowing trial lawyers to collect fees that belonged not to them, but to the state treasury. Some lawyers hired by Hood, like Dickie Scruggs and Joey Langston, later wound up in federal prison after being convicted in judicial bribery scandals. Scruggs pleaded guilty to 2009 for bribing two judges and was sentenced to seven years in federal prison. Despite his investigative powers as the state’s chief lawyer, Hood cited his closeness to crooks like Scruggs as an excuse not to investigate them, claiming it would be “like prosecuting relatives.”

Hood attempted to censor Google’s search results in violation of the First Amendment, at the urging of several of his campaign supporters. This led to a federal court issuing an injunction against him in March 2015."

The Competitive Enterprise Institute is a political hack. The Texas AG, a Republican, has been indicted, but his name is nowhere on the list. Instead, they list Hood and 5 Democrats. I am to expect that this is a non-bias organization without an agenda. Please.

I like this guy. I think lots of other people will, too, soon.

10:09 - facts are facts, no matter who provides them. Is any of the information provided by CEI inaccurate? So the Texas Attorney General was indicted - do I need to provide a list of people who have been indicted and found innocent, or are you just in to bash a certain political party? Who's the hack now?

Does Hood not live in the Jackson area and spend time in his office? This is troubling...

It is hard to know who is worse Pickering or Hood, both are sad examples of public servants.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
