There is nothing wrong in NE Jackson Kingfish. Million dollar houses are still being built in Eastover and that is the ultimate barometer of all things.

Arrested multiple times and no billed twice this year? We need a new D.A.

We definitely need a new DA. This one appears to have a very poor work ethic.

You have to wonder, is our DA basically ineffectual because he is lacking in skill...or is he really not interested in sending his brothers to jail...

I think you don't need a new DA as much as you need a new pool from which to select grand jury members. And jurors.

I think Robert Smith has a pretty solid record as DA. He isn't the problem. When a case is no billed, it is usually due to the poor quality of the case built by the police. "Lack of evidence" = JPD screwed up.

There is nothing wrong with Northeast Jackson as far as rich assholes wanting to build houses go. What is wrong with NE Jackson is the ghetto thugs looking to rob those rich assholes. And the thugs have got to be feeling pretty empowered at this point.

That gun in the last picture is the same as the one used to murder the security guard at the fortification gas station a couple years back. I wonder if the one pictures is fully auto as well.

Also, they seem to be sporting a lot of blue. I bet they are friends with the fine group of gentlemen often sporting blue grilling out in their front yard on Wilhurst Street (right behind Sheffield).

The problem isn't the DA, it's JPD. Lack of leadership, funding and motivation. In major cities, detectives make more money, get more over time, and have more perks than patrolmen. Going from patrol to detective is a promotion.

Of course, JPD is the opposite. The only perks that detectives get is a take home car and they can wear plain clothes. There is no incentive to building quality cases. I spoke to one officer who was a detective for about a year before volunteering to go back to patrol. Why? Because he got more overtime pay.

Can you point to one occasion where Robert Smith has acted anything but racially neutral in his prosecutions? Anyone who knows Hinds County Circuit Court knows that that prize goes to Green, who regularly sentences African-American defendants to the minimum.

It's Jackson Police Department all the way. When was the last time a the DA failed to get an indictment if a suspect arrested in Clinton? Ever? Its because Clinton PD builds solid cases and collect and preserve evidence. JPD brings garbage cases and constantly fails to gather or preserve evidence.

I am not normally one to advocate violence, but I sincerely hope that the next time they break into a home, they leave in body bags with their brains blown clean out of their worthless heads!!

It might not be the DA, but the police that aren't gathering enough evidence to bring these guys to court. Or both, of course.

I notice that the article mentions the proximity to Nandy's Candy and not Whole Foods which is just across the street. Expect more car break-ins or worse in the future with people like this on the street living that close.

More rental houses will be popping up in NE Jackson because people can't sell their houses without incurring a loss in most areas. Ridgewood from County Line to Meadowbrook is ever increasing in rental properties. Great neighborhoods are being lost to the thugs.

And I agree that JPD and Judges like Tommie Green are the problem.

I have had the misfortune of serving on a grand jury before and almost all of the cases that were no billed were because of the weak case presented. In many cases the files were incomplete, missing, etc. or the officer who originally worked the case had moved on to other employment and no one else had a clue. I felt sorry for one investigator doing his best to make a presentation with the mess someone else left him.

Whether it's the initial officer that shows up on scene, an investigator, prosecutor, judge, or the DA, it only takes one bad seed not doing their job properly to mess up the whole process. Judge Green is the perfect example of one that consistently is that bad seed. These guys are habitual offenders. Arrested over and over by JPD, only to wind up chasing the same criminals week after week because a sorry ass judge continues to give these low-lifes some bogus bond so they can continue to terrorize our communities. These thugs have been out on bail nearly every time they've been arrested. Why is it their bond is never revoked & they are consistently back out the revolving door of the Hinds County Courthouse?

Question: If the PoPo (and others) are negatively affecting the DA's ability to do his job, wouldn't we be hearing that from the DA either periodically or at election time?

Statement: I may be geographically challenged, but I never considered Cedars of Lebanon, over to State Street, to be in Northeast Jackistan. I always assumed NE Jackistan to be that area bounded by I-55, County Line Road, the Pearl River and Lakeland Drive.

I can't speak on what evidence was or wasn't available in order to prosecute this criminal and put him on the no bill list. However, one name on that no bill list from last week was a bit familiar. William McClain's mug was all over the the news a few months back after he was arrested after breaking into Target & FILMING a video on how NOT to get caught! If an actual video of the crime filmed by the criminal himself isn't enough evidence to prosecute, our system is even more broken than initially thought. Never imagined that was possible.

I live on Wilhurst, and I have never seen any crip grillouts as described by 2:17.

It's quite simple, 8:28. Belhaven gets a premium rent because of all the little sissy hipster students in college. Or the young professionals that wish they were a sissy hipster in college. Northeast Jackson was the poor mans rental destination for the longest time, for the school district. Now that ridgeland is taking in the former northeast Jackson tenants (for school district, which ridge lands school district isn't worth a shit anymore) who else to rent the northeast Jackson homes except the folk that are trying to get out of the ghetto on the west side. The only problem, is they tend to bring the ghetto with them. Hence the upstanding democrat (or likely republican after Thad's show) voters moving into the rental houses of northeast Jackson.

Unfortunately, I know Frank and Marquise personally. I've known them since grade school. Frank has always had mental problems. He has never been in a normal classroom. There was always someone personally assigned to him, since 1st grade. He was always isolated. Don't know what his diagnosis was, but he wasn't allowed to mix with the other kids. He was always heavily medicated. He was reared by old grandparents. I think his real mom was killed or died from an illness. Marquise was just a class clown. He Didnt disrespect adults, just a follower who would do anything for acceptance. A wannabe. This is the most dangerous type of criminal. You call him a thug, but real thugs make punks out these guys once in the pen. Frank should definitely be in Whitfield, don't know how he escaped it. Marquise should fed to the real thugs in parchman.

I would not touch Belhaven or Fondren with a 100 foot pole. Those neighborhoods have roaches in the walls, on the floors and in the streets. Not to mention the two legged roaches. Gross.

Yea Mr. Smith finally prosecuted a case and what was the result of that? Oh yea the jury hung up. I bet he hasn't tried 5 cases in all the years since he has been DA.

@ 6:51 and 10:22 That case involved Too Sweet Henderson's nephew, who was shot at Rebelwood. Too Sweet is a huge fan of this website. The DA also was listed as a character witness for Too Sweet on his pardon application, as was Tyrone Lewis.

Seems like the problem(s) started with the apartments around that area. Was it Section 8, or new owners (insurance companies?) using them as collateral and not maintaining them?
I've been out Jackson for a while now so I'm unsure about their downfall. However, Memphis (that fine, garden spot) has exhibited a similar pattern of once-nice apartments bringing down adjacent neighborhoods, and thus entire sections of town. What's left are scattered pockets of wealth, with a couple of "arts" districts. 25% supporting the other 75%.

2:30 on the 14th. Check out the latest post - on the no bills of the grand jury. Eight cases by the CLINTON PD. Screws up your theory that the fault lies in JPD. (Not that I'm taking up for competence in JPD.)

The problem is that the DA and his assistants do nothing when they go into the grand jury room expect throw the file down and say "what do yall want to do with this one?" No witnesses. No information. Just a file.

DA then controls the docket in the courts (Blame the judges for allowing this.) Cases never get into court even if the bad guys did get indicted.

Blame Tyrone for the jail problems? OK. He has plenty of fault. But also, DA has as much or more. Leaving bad guys in there for years at a time with nothing to do - what do you expect but the crap we have.

Time for a new DA. And if we can take over failing schools in this state, we should be able to take over a failing criminal justice system. Judge Green should be the starting point; once that's out of the way, line up the rest of the culprits.

Just to be sure, I looked up the definition of 'Marquise'. Sure enough, it's the FEMALE form of 'Marquis'. The wife of the Marquis would be the Marquise.
