Mayfield's wife files tresspassing charges against Madison PD (Updated with statement from Mayor.)

Ridgeland Police confirmed to JJ that Robin Mayfield filed trespassing charges against three Madison police officers last Friday.  She is the wife of Mark Mayfield.  Mr. Mayfield committed suicide in June after he was arrested by Madison police.  MPD accused him of conspiring with others to help Clayton Kelly gain access to Rose Cochran's room at St. Catharine's Village so Mr. Kelly could take photos of Ms. Cochran.  The pictures were to be used in videos that would attack her husband, Senator Thad Cochran.  Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler issued the following statement:

My heart goes out to Mrs. Mayfield and she has every right to resolve any concerns and questions she may have.  I have faith in the professionalism of the Madison Police Department and I want to assure our residents that we have one of the finest police departments in the southeast.  I regret that our officers are being criticized. However, I am glad this matter will be resolved in a court of law where the whole truth will come out based on evidence, rather than wild claims, unsupported Facebook posts, and allegations.  Its time that the whole truth is known.

Then-Ridgeland Police Chief Jimmy Houston told JJ that  Madison police arrived after Ridgeland Police and AMR were already at the scene.  He said they only stayed for a few minutes and left before anyone else the scene.

I assume she had a lawyer file this lawsuit for her. Does this attorney not recognize that someone released on bail by Madison is subject to visits by MPD 24/7 as a condition of being released on bail? Are they liable to sanctions for filing such a boneheaded complaint?

You are the man Kingfish! You are the very best!!

This one will get the herd of Cochran Krishnas to come runnin'.

The timing couldn't be better for Senator Thad Sominex's lethargic campaign.

Mark Mayfield's death is a tragic circumstance for his family that is beyond partisan politics, or how anyone feels about the McDaniel vs. Cochran conflict. The politics have become irrelevant to the tragedy of Mark's death.

any arrest on these criminal charges must be authorized by a Circuit Court Judge. That will not happen.

12:44 -- I think we are all in agreement with you however, can you get that message to his family? Seems like filing suits, etc. keeps things in the limelight. In this case, a man took his life. I would think that there was more going on, with regard to his temporary state of mind that day, and maybe the drivers were not just the position he found himself in that day. Depression, and other issues, drive people to suicide and many times, it is NOT just an impulsive act based on his temporary situation......there were indicators along the way, for a long period of time, that this is how it would end. Not judging.......but I would think, throwing myself into support groups for family members who are facing these issues, would be a better expense of time and money, and possibly help them heal along the way.

I really don't think his wife wants to see what else was on that computer. Someone needs to have a talk with someone before this gets out of hand.

Tell that 12:44 PM to the vultures that regularly circle here. How quickly you've forgotten the comments left here when Mayfield passed.

That's some mighty strong veiled references you're putting up there, buddy. Put up or shut up, asshole.

1:04 thanks for making me re-read it. I thought this was a lawsuit - it seems more like a "citizen's arrest", and won't go anywhere.

I'm sure she's got her brother John Reeves as her attorney. He makes an ass of himself everday!

Anonymous said...

or, put another way 2:27, Johnny Reeves makes an ass look like a competent attorney...

2:05 You used the words "buddy" and "asshole" in the same comment...me thinks you were a third stringer on the Jr high football team now trying to act tough...that's so cute.

Filed a public records request for the reports. Was informed the authorities have not released any records and everyone has to go through the same process.

Means someone gave these affidavits to the media. You can probably figure out who.

I feel sorry for Mrs. Mayfield. She has obviously received some bad advice from someone or needs to seek some advice. A circuit court judge will not sign a warrant because she has no case.

The Mayfields are nuts to let everything else come out.

That's a tough block in Bridgewater for lawyers this year. Very sad. How many deaths on that block this year?

@1:21 7:41 you are correct. Reeves is giving his poor sister this awful advice. He obviously has no clue. What sad is many do. If his past comes out she will never speak to him again.

The dude killed himself for a reason. His family needs to get over it.

If Mayfield is shown to be the person who called Melanie about Kelly's arrest - bingo! Case closed.

Absolutely speechless at people's disregard for the raw sorrow Robin, Owen, and William still feel on a daily basis. As someone who previously wrote you "broke bread many a time" and called Mark Mayfield a friend... I have lost all respect for you Kingfish and the comments you allow on this site.

Delmonico @ 9:25 I hope that you never have to find a loved one with a bullet in their head, bleeding out in your family home ... but if so good luck "getting over it"

Guys I hate all this happened ! I hate to see mark take his own life! I hate to see Kelly do what he did I still think he needs his ass kicked! Hope someone does it to! But mark made his chance! If he help Kelly! I supported Chris McDaniel and I still do! But mark made his own chances in life ! Not Madison police or Thad or Haley ! Mark and mark only !

This sure seems to be a long way from the 'threats' Johnny Reeves was making shortly after the tradegy of Mark's death. Then he was threatening to file suit for the method of the arrest - Madison PD coming to Mark's office in force. Now it has dropped to trespassing at his house after his death?

Am I missing something here? Or has Johnny Boy just decided he needed to file something to keep the interest up.

The so-called "SWAT" team that stormed Mark's office turned out to be two MPD detectives. He was not even at the office when they showed up. He was called and returned to the office. That's why there was no lawsuit.

This dude killed himself out of shame for having participated in a stupid political stunt.

He realized how silly his actions were and how harmful they were to an innocent person.

In short he realized how horrible his actions were and he was hard on himself...hard as a bullet.

I wish his feelings were as contagious as Ebola.

Perhaps we'd be rid of a large portion of an extremely ignorant electorate.

Look for John Reeves to run for the House of Representatives next year. Lord knows - we don't need him back in the House! He was bad enough representing South Jackson, but the folks in Ridgeland and Madison are in deep shit if he's elected as their Representative!

Thank you, 10:12 PM. I was thinking the same thing. Pretty dumbfounded that some folks are acting like this is a football game to bet on. I'm sorry this family is going thru this tragedy.

Mayfield was a knucklehead - that's for sure.

Reeves is all about Reeves. Not one republican lawmaker wants him back at the capitol. The comment made about him there the most is that he is really a democrat, votes with democrats and supports democrats. As one lawmaker put it...Reeves is a legend in his own mind.

Reeves IS a doofus mofo.

Damn. It was just getting good! No more Reeves bashing???

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
