Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Absolutely PATHETIC--she doesn't have a PRAYER and in all probability keep a more qualified candidate from being elected or ENABLES a buffon---
Unfortunately there's not a more qualified candidate. All buffoons( except Kennuff) officially enabled.
I'm voting for the one who went to Harvard!
What's in a Name? A rose by any other name would still smell sweet. Romeo & Juliet
Oh, that's great, another major part of the problem jumps in the problem pool.
So much for the campaign funds for Yarber...not looking good at all.
For Margaret to have worked with Yarber for 4.5 years and feel compelled to run against the FINANCIAL front-runner says a lot!
Something tells me that is shining exterior is about to be tarnished.
seriously. Harvey owns Margaret. period. her motivation is obviously one of splitting the vote to help Harvey. just saying.
I report , you decide! A couple of months ago, 49 year old PIA FARRENKOPF's mummified body was found inside of her Pontiac Michigan home. According to the coroner she died in 2008 of natural causes.
End of story? nope! The local news paper scratching around for an angle on the story discovered that Ms FARRENKOPF had VOTED in the 2010 gubernatorial election in Michigan. WHAT? Dead people really do vote? local officials claim that it must be a "clerical" error....sure thing..Voter fraud I say....
This mayoral race keeps getting better and better. At least it does for those of us on the other side of the county line. Who's next?!?!?
Since the filing date is Wednesday, a lot of horse trading can occur. Ms. Barrett-Simon might just be positioning herself like she does for an important city council vote. Who are the four candidates that have actually filed their paperwork?
Oh bullshit. The lazy old woman is running. Ego, delusions and PERS. Those are her ambitions. She will make the runoff but lose the general....badly, reverse Oreo or not.
She'll never make a runoff. At best she comes in next to last. For decades she's been the invisible woman. We've all heard her name but cannot attach one single, damned thing to it. Wait, didn't she get mugged or something seven years ago?
NOOOOOOOOOOO! DO NOT BE FOOLED WARD 7. VOTE FOR YARBER
This recent move is nothing more than a political ploy to split the vote even further from a preferred candidate among ALL voters. Politics at there worst for this special election. Examine the candidates that keep there residents engaged, can relate to their issues, return phone calls and are accessible. That candidate is clear...A young fresh leader with proven skills, Tony Yarber.
Lol lol lol lol I wonder what Priester and Yarber was thinking when they heard she was running. Wards 1 and 7 are up shit creek. Side deals after side deals after side deals.
I like Margaret and she's a good person.
But, I've become impressed with Yarber as well.
I hope either he or Melvin Priester wins.
While Melvin like Margaret is a good person and hands down the smartest and best educated candidate, Yarber has the charisma and leadership skills to pull people together. And, he's more than smart enough.
Everything that Yarber has done has been for self gain and self accomplishments. Please name one thing he has done for Ward 6 (South Jackson). Give me his business resume. I have nothing but respect for him far as an individual but political wise he hasn't done anything
It's appropriate that John Hohrn's ad is placed next to the Briarwood Wine and Spirits ad on JJ homepage.
Tony will try to make it about experience. Its going to come down to the voter choosing between public service or ambition. Tony is hold a Jack on experience. Antar is holding a higher face card because he was a significant force behind his Dad's political success. His Dad had a solid record of community, pro bono, and political service. Antar has a King of Hearts because of his Dad.
Sorry 1:43, but you're a dreamer, sorta like the 'free the land' tribe. There are not enough dunces to show up at the polls and elect number one son. But, back to your claim that 'his dad had a solid record of community service'; name something. And it does not count to mention 'the Scott Sustahs'.
9:37, what a jackass post. But, it got published and you'll get off on that alone. There's not a candidate in the race (other than the Muslim) who does not publicly frequent Jackson's hooch-stores.
She will easily make the runoff. BTW what exactly has Yarber accomplished in his years on the Council?
4:12 name one thing Margaret Barrett has accomplished in her 32 freaking YEARS on the Council. Name one. ONE. YARBER brought maturity and decorum to that board. MBS didn't even show up half the time. CHECK THE RECORD.
Jonathan Lee won exactly TWO precincts that weren't in wards 1 or 7 in the runoff.
Precinct 95 Ward 6 Siwell Rd Church of Christ-Lee 96 Chockwe 94
Precinct 100 Ward 4 Christ Tabernacle Church on Coooper Rd- Lee 104 Chockwe 81
If she seriously thinks she can win a runoff she is delusional. If a black person cant do it she doesnt stand a chance.
Some of her goofy lib Belhaven white suck ups have gotten with a few black women who have shot a 55 gal drum of dumbass up her butt.
Margaret is in this race for one reason; take the white vote away from someone else.
OK 2:09. The Jackson Panthers basketball program. The City of Jackson didn't do that, he did. He offered youth face time with a leader and elder instead of a gang leader. Ask Tommy Mabry. Ask Priester or Yarber. The other solid public service was to win the election and serve notice that the re-building of Jackson infrastructure would be performed by citizens and not the regular 'kick-back contractors'. He literally served until he dropped. That's his solid service and people will show up to vote for Chokwe A.
Will she bother to show up at the debates? Or will she send someone to represent her in her absence like she does everything else? I can see it now, "Mayor Barrett-Simon can't make it to Mayor's office today, so she sent "BLANK" to represent her. WHAT A JOKE. Harvey must have paid her.
So, we have it from 9:19 that Chokeme's stellar public service contribution was opening a midnight gym basketball game and, WHAT? Winning the election?
Chokwe also keep the pressure on the Bush, Barbour, and Nagin administrations on refugee, relief, and the human rights issues of Katrina. The activism on the hurricane won him the respect of his community and assisted in his Ward seat election. The seat for the NW is pivotal as Priester knows as it represents the black intelligentsia. Notable in the Priester announcement was the wife of Zach Taylor III. They are patricians attached to the Miss. Non-Freedom Democratic Party and Coleman/Winter/Ditto/Barrett wing.
On second thought, his vocal, though misguided, support of The Scott Sustahs, is probably his ONLY notable contribution.
Saw polling from a political operative friend of mine Friday. Sam Hall must've seen the same because his article in the CL today all but lays it out. Lumumba leads the pack by a few points, Yarber and Priester right there at the top neck and neck. Horhn, Harvey, and Quinn all a distant pack lagging the others by 8-10%.
Lumumba in the run-off no doubt. Next spot a toss up between priester and Yarber. WOTS is Priester has a HUGE skeleton in his closet that Harvey's just itching to bring out...
Polling, schmolling. Ain't no way any of them are remotely accurate. Good try at shilling.
Somebody say something! I am about to vomit. The white votes have just been obliterated. Thanks Marg! After you get your happy ass handed to you, if not the general, but the runoff, and a winnable candidate is on the sideline, revert back to your days of not showing up for shit, but sending the old OLD man you live with to all the things you should be there for.
SHAME on you.
I agree. What in God's name is she thinking about?
I'll say something. Vote for Yarber. Go find the Kim Wade interview with him. But, to paraphrase Kim, they ARE all librards...
Librards?
That ad Yarber has this morning about his birthday par-tay is absolutely boneheaded. I've been thinking that Yarber has several years of age on Priester and, frankly, the age advantage is the only reason why I was leaning towards Yarber despite Priester clearly being much smarter and having the better pedigree. Now that I know from Yarber himself that Yarber (36 today) is actually only a few months older than Priester (35), I'm a helluva lot more comfortable voting for Priester than I was when I thought Yarber was 39 or 40 and Priester was only 35.
LMAO. You pick 'em because of age? ROFLMAO What a bonehead.
JFK won the nomination for POTUS at 40.
Voting for Priester based on his educational background is foolish. He is going to be controlled by Bennie whether he realizes it or not. Everyone should listen to the radio show Kingfish did on Wednesday to get a good analysis.
Margaret sucks off much of the white vote from Yarber, thus allowing Priester to get in runoff with Lamumba. Bennie's money got into Margaret's purse - there is no way she can really be in the race thinking she can win.
Yarber automatically has the white vote? Nope.
JFK won the nomination for POTUS at 40.
Reggie Jackson hit his first major league homerum at 21.
curious Kingfish-- what ever happened to the "parking hysteria" at Whole Foods? after the first week I have NEVER had a problem (of course don't even THINK about picking up a lil Equal or Sweet n Low there!!!)
JFK won the nomination for POTUS at 40.
Reggie Jackson hit his first major league at 21
Jesus Christ died for our sins at 33.
(of course don't even THINK about picking up a lil Equal or Sweet n Low there!!!)
Those are not good for you....don't pick them up anywhere.
I was told by a friend of mine yesterday that Chewbacca Lumooooombuh Jr. showed up at 1st Baptist Church Sunday and it was actually announced from the pulpit that he was there! hmmmmm..What gives? Why would a New Afrika Soldier be patronizing a bunch of Southern Baptist anyhow? Mr. Lee tried that and it blew up in his face. Or maybe 1st Baptist Church is endorsing Jr.?
Doesn't Margaret B-S's constant crowing about her 30 something years on the Council, and Harvey "the state of Jackson is good" Johnson's 12 years of experience running the city speak for itself? I say we give them the full credit they deserve for the state of the city. It takes some gall to run on such do nothing, ad hoc decision making records.
Can't blame only Harvey. Ditto and Melton were jokes too while the only thing Lumumba did was jack up taxes and rates while cheerleading a 14% increase in sales taxation. It is a culture of Democratic failure.
I am so happy she's running, because quite frankly this black women was finding it difficult to even contemplate the previous announced candidates. I think she will make a wonderful mayor for our city and look forward to casting my vote for her. And, I doubt very serious that I am the only black resident of Jackson with this mindset. Those of us who live in Jackson love Jackson, so don't think we will just throw our vote away because of the color of one's skin or what their last name may be. Integrity matters. Run Margaret Run!!!!!!
Barrett-Simon would be a great mayor for Jackson. She has served on the council long enough to know what the mayor can and can not do. Like Lumumba, she knows that its going to take all the citizens of Jackson working together to make this a better city in which to live. I commend her for running and pray she will do well.
7:04 will she actually show up for meetings? Will Al be the surrogate mayor? Her running has guaranteed a Johnson-Lumumba runoff. Save this post.
7:18 will she have a "near-stroke" and then run away like a sprinter from the votes she made to prop up Melton?
Disregard YOUR post.
7:18. Unfortunately this is a scenario very few want to believe. Here is a better one. Lumumba vs Simon. What now?
7:04 But she does not seem to understand (or care) what a council member can and cannot do, and she does not seem to understand that the Council is bound by law, and she does not seem to understand that Council members do not control executive function. No, she should not be our mayor. In fact, she should not be a Council member.
She has shown up for just as many council meetings as any other council member and to the contrary she is in fact aware of what the mayor can and can not do -- getting measures passed on his/her own . . . the same holds true that any council member can not get any measures passed on his/her own. Heck, the President needs Congress to do the same. The only other candidate in this race with the experience to run this city is Harvey Johnson and his time has come and gone. Whether this is a scenario that people want to believe or not Yarber is not ready neither is Priester nor Quinn nor Horhn.
Lumumba, Yarber, Priester and Quinn all need to pay their dues. Horhn has lost his integrity and both he had Johnson will not be respected.
