The city of Madison issued the following press release:
Road progress in Madison will temporarily halt traffic on
Grandview Boulevard.
Traffic on Grandview Boulevard, one of the city’s major
thoroughfares, will come to a stop at the southern end for a couple of weeks to
make way for a new and improved intersection at Madison Avenue.
Starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, the section of Grandview just
below the turnoff to the commercial area containing Miskelly Furniture and
Malco Grandview Theater will be barricaded. Vehicles will not be allowed to
travel from that point south to Madison Avenue, and traffic will not be allowed
to enter the northbound lanes of Grandview Avenue from Madison Avenue.
“Drivers won’t have the option to go south all the way on
Grandview to Madison Avenue,” Police Chief Gene Waldrop said.
The intersection of the two major thoroughfares is being
shifted slightly to the east as part of the I-55 reconstruction in that area.
After the new intersection is complete, Grandview will line up with Cotton Hill
Road to the south of Madison Avenue.
“It will be a couple of weeks of inconvenience,” Waldrop
said. “The contractor is hoping that with good weather, the closure will only
be about two weeks.”
The construction work will not interfere with east-west
traffic traveling on Madison Avenue.
After the new intersection opens, Madison officials expect
construction to begin on the Sam’s store off Grandview at Madison Avenue.

Negative comments about Madison and our mayor in 3 - 2 - 1
It's a huge project with no safe way to complete it except to close the road. Let's just hope for good weather.
This is gonna force major detour for a thousand daily drivers to Madison Central. What's plan B?
Detour a thousand daily drivers taking Grandview to get to Madison Central? Don't think so.
