Danette Horne pleaded guilty to one county of disobeying a police officer today in Pearl Municipal Court. Judge Richard Redfern remanded another charge of resisting arrest and ordered an immediate expungement of both charges. Attorney Gerald Mumford represented Ms. Horne. She is the court reporter for Hinds County Circuit Judge Winston Kidd.
JJ reported two weeks ago:
Pearl Police arrested the court reporters of Hinds County Circuit Judges Tomie Green and Winston Kidd on June 23 for various charges. PPD charged Danette Horne, age 45 years old, with Disobeying a Police Officer and Resisting arrest. She is the court reporter for Judge Kidd. Kimberly Smith, age 43 years old, works for Judge Green and was charged with a first offense DUI and traveling more than twenty miles over the speed limit. Link to earlier post with copies of police report and mug shots.
Sources tell JJ both defendants pulled the "do you know who I work for" card when stopped by the police. Ms. Smith entered a plea of guilty for driving under the influence-1st offense. She was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $317 for court cousts. Ms. Horn is scheduled to appear in court on September 5. It is not known if Judge Green composed a poem in their honor.
Ms. Horne sat throughout the proceeding with a look of defiance. After the case was adjudicated, she said loudly under her breath "asshole" while her back was to the bench. The WLBT reporter and myself both saw and heard her say the word. This correspondent asked her repeatedly outside the courtroom who she was referring to in the courtroom by the term. Ms. Horne only responded with dirty looks and glares. WAPT and WJTV recorded my questioning. It remains to be seen if they will post it.

Hey judge! Expect an opponent next election
What was the reason why the record was expunged? Is it fair to assume that everyone going before this judge will NOW have their record expunged if they are brought into the court for DUI? Cannot do for one that you cannot do for all.
Dang--I could understand if this was Hinds County but highly disappointed in Pearl and Rankin County.
Get the drunks off the street--especially defiant ones that work for a Hinds judge that should know better.
Don't you know the police that were doing their job are pleased with this judge. This judge needs to be called NOW!!
My attorney just got 3 phone calls already since the news broke asking him to run. 2 calls were from big money GOP guys. Wow! even of he don't run someone will. This guys career on the bench is over
6:11 & 6:18, what a bunch ofnumb nuts you and that attorney must be, including the "big money...guys" you claimed called him, since you and they don't know that Municipal Judges aren't elected, but appointed by the Mayor...
Looks like the mayor has some splainin' to do!!!! LUCY!!!!
LOOKS LIKE RACISM TO ME!

rednecks will be rednecks and by the way.
you can thank Gregg Harper for the Redfern appointment
I think Tomie Green threatened to write him a poem if he didn't clear Horne's record.
BTW, my captcha is CCCOMMI. They must think I'm Donna Ladd.
If I remember correctly, Tomie Greven landed like a ton of bricks on Karen Irby for driving drunk. Granted, this lady didn't kill anyone, but what's good for the goose.....
So if u work for a Hinds County Judge and u break the law charges are expunged.
Kinda like Judge Richardson expunging a Meth case. Gee Rankin County is getting nice to people that break the law.
She might have gotten away this time, but Karma is a bitch
Redfern.
Wasn't that the name of the Apache stud on the " King of the Hill" cartoon ?
no
Redfern may be appointed in Pearl, but he is elected in Rankin County. After a discussion with an ex constable, it's amazing how nobody has ran against him. I will not put into print here what was learned, as I cannot prove it, but know this....HE IS A FIRST CLASS....... well, let me say this, where is the kingfish reporter when needed?
8:49,
Not if you get caught breaking into cars. They'll give you 60 years for that.
Did she pay a fine?
Diplomatic Immunity. These two girls were on assignment. Their activities cannot be called into question. A little known Mississippi law allows them free passage.
Arent we all just sick of those lenient Rankin county? I guess its time to move to Scott county now that the thugs have runied Rankin courts. And with
the Reunion gun crime....
"Attorney Gerald Mumford represented Ms. Horne"
kingfish, why is an attorney general representing a private citizen? case would have been styled something like person v state of ms. As an attorney general, Mr. Mumford would be on the 'state of ms' side, not the plaintiff side.
Huh?
First offense criminal cases get expunged every day. There's nothing illegal about that. If you don't like it, you need to contact your state senator or representative.
True but usually you have to ask for the expungement. Not immediately have it given to you.
um, I thought she was a DUI? Was that someone else? Plus, I hate the message this sends to all of the night crawlers from Jackson...A lot of Jackson's thugs stay out of Rankin County because they know that they will be held accountable for what they do... I know this for a fact because some of my painters won't do jobs in Brandon etc. out of fear of outstanding warrants and so forth...
"Attorney General"/"Attorney Gerald" I see the resemblance.
The DUI was the other court reporter. She pled guilty. She has been arrested and pled guilty before in another county. This is not her first time on the wrong side of the law.

Thanks. I guess my eyes were the next thing on the schedule to go bad.
Redfern is also a justice court judge in Rankin County. He has a long history of fixing tickets and doing favors. He can and should be voted out of that position.
Judge Redfern served Rankin well. He is adjudicating cases in justice court respectfully. Have some decency folks.
