McDaniel: RNC Rules Prohibit Cochran as Nominee
The Chris McDaniel campaign just issued the following press release:
The artwork of St. Andrew's Cathedral
St. Andrew's Cathedral. It sits on Capitol Street, often ignored for six days of the week and only remembered by a few hundred on the seventh day. No surprise as we often take what is around is for granted. Jackson Jambalaya decided to present St. Andrew's Cathredal to you as a work of art in and of itself. Local photographer Rick Guy was commissioned to shoot pictures of the cathedral. Many thanks to the St. Andrew's staff for their cooperation. A special thanks goes to Buddy Huff for letting Rick shoot from the top of the Trustmark building. Twenty-six pictures are presented below. Please click on a picture to see a larger version. The building opened in 1903. The architecture, the stained glass windows, and figurines present the wonders of an age long past. Enjoy.

Sojourner says she is "unfairly targeted"
State Senator (R-House of Seale) and Chris McDaniel campaign manager Melanie Sojourner told the Natchez Democrat she did not turn in her campaign finance report because her home suffered major tornado damage last September. Secretary of State Dogbert Hosemann fined her $500 for failure to submit her campaign finance report that was due January 31.

Scenes from a courtroom.
Judge Atlas did not issue a ruling today on the request for a preliminary injunction. I literally just got out of the courtroom. A post will be written later tonight. However, here are the promised sketches. Jackson Jambalaya and WLBT commissioned local artist Bill Wilson to draw several sketches of the proceedings as they took place today. Many thanks to Judge Atlas for giving us permission.
Supremes to McDaniel: Denied!!!
The Mississippi Supreme Court just issued the following order:
Winfield show cause hearing in the Miss.S.Ct. today at 10:00
Today is the second show cause hearing in the case of Vicksburg Healthcare, LLC d/b/a River Region Health System v. Clara Dees. As JJ reported last week, Dees' lawyer Michael Winfield was summoned for a show cause hearing on April 30, 2014, to explain why his brief had not been timely filed despite the many extensions that had been granted. At 1:30, when the hearing was to start, Winfield was not there. Time passed. Apparently the clerk was dispatched to contact Mr. Winfield and he had traveled to Canton for a last minute meeting with a client. When Winfield finally put in an appearance, he explained that he had forgotten about the show cause hearing. As the hearing progressed, things just got worse.

McDaniel fires back at Harrison County
Chris McDaniel filed a response to Harrison County's response to his motion for reconsideration for the denial of his petition for a writ of mandamus against Harrison County. Did you get all that? Don't have time to write about this filing but it is posted below. One interesting quote:
You can't make this up.
This is not liberal media bias. This is not being in the tank for someone. Sometimes opportunities for artistic and literary mischief are handed to you on a gold platter- with valet service. Marshall Ramsey, Chris McDaniel, and comic books. A potent combination.

Holocaust denial & young skulls full of mush
A California school generated much controversy several months ago when students were assigned the task of writing a paper discussing whether the Holocaust even occurred. The district apologized profusely and of course everyone knows it happened. Right? Well, it looks like some students took the assignment seriously and now question whether the Holocaust even happened.

And Harrison & Rankin fire back at McDaniel
The Harrison County Circuit Clerk and Rankin County attorney both fired epistle missiles at the McDaniel campaign. Needless to say, they are both colorful in nature.
True the Vote gets a shot at the title.
It looks like we will have a hearing in federal court this week after all regarding the True the Vote lawsuit against the Secretary of State AND the Republican Party of Mississippi. PACER states:
McDaniel asks Supreme Court for another swing.
State Senator Chris McDaniel asked the Supreme Court to reconsider its denial of his petition for a writ of mandamus against Harrison County last week. He filed the petition against Harrison County after the Circuit Clerk said he must pay for copies of the "poll books" that redacted date of birth information for registered voters. The plaintiff made the following points:

The Mayor Yarber Administration issued the following press release:

A lesson in how not to practice law
Video is posted below. Worth watching.
Blowing off the Supreme Court is never a good idea. Vicksburg attorney Michael Winfield found out how true that little fact is when he decided to ignore a Mississippi Supreme Court order to show up and explain why the court should not discipline him. Mr. Winfield is the brother of the former Vicksburg Mayor and convict Paul Winfield. The court ordered Mr. Winfield to appear on April 30 and explain why he should not be held in contempt of court. Mr. Winfield would not have appeared in court if the clerk had not called him on order from the Supremes. In other words, he made the justices track him down. Not very smart. The hearing was supposed to start at 1:30. He finally appeared after 2:00. The wayward lawyer claimed he received the notice but didn't put it on his calendar. Needless to say, the justices were none too amused with his excuses as is evident in the video below.
Melanie Sojourner fined $500 for failure to file campaign finance report
Secretary of State Eggbert Hosemann issued a $500 fine against State Senator Melanie Sojourner for failure to file her 2013 campaign finance report. State law requires legislators to file annual campaign finance reports by January 31. JJ obtained notices to the State Senator through a public records request. They are posted below. The Secretary of State's office said she was the only elected official who had not filed the required report.

Trollfest '09
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.
If you get tired come relax at the Fox News Tent. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both will entitle you to free drinks.Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required, just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '07 is for EVERYONE!!!
