Jackson Mayor John Horhn issued the following statement.
“The City Council is responsible for establishing and enforcing the rules governing its chambers. While that responsibility rests with the Council, we expect all city officials and residents who participate during public comments to conduct themselves with proper decorum and treat others with respect while conducting the people’s business.
Disagreements are part of public service, but they should never become personal attacks or disrespectful exchanges. Our residents deserve a city government that can work through difficult issues without losing sight of why we are here, to serve them.
Our young people are watching. We must set the right example through our words and our actions, especially when we disagree. We owe that to them and to everyone who calls Jackson home.”

These young people witness similar conduct at home and in school-- so why not with elected officials?
Choose one grifters opinion over another, is this the choice that we must make?
Actually, the woman said Stokes would sell out his own mama. That’s not talking about his mama, then, or her character; rather, it’s her perception of Stokes and HIS character. Stokes, apparently, was simply triggered when he heard the word “mama.” That’s how it looks to me, but then, bless God, I don’t come out of the rich vibrancy of that culture.
Ok but he didn’t actually say anything TO Stokes or directly ABOUT Stokes.
Stokes has entertainment value and has seen the light regarding AI Data Centers which can massively benefit nearby infrastructure, police and schools. Proper negotiating is necessary and only Hartley and Foote are worthy of a seat at that table, along with professional City planners.
This is exactly what you expect from someone whose entire life has been dedicated to being the popular guy at a cocktail party.
He also smelled some grease.
Let's see how they handle the citizens that were also in the wrong.
The response is such that it is because the pot can't call the kettle black. As far as young people, the entire conduct of the city, including incompetence, corruption, and mismanagement has already psychologically affected the mindset of our youth. Just ask the teachers for confirmation.
Stokes is in office as long as he wants. He's untouchable electorally.
9:21 am And I’m wondering how much longer Foote will decide to stay before he gets the hell out of Dodge! He is above this idiotic council!!
If the Mayor is smart he'll start wearing a HOHRN hat
Hold On! The City Council has 'chambers'? If so, would that include sanctioning an elected official who stands and leaves the room every time the Pledge of Allegiance rings through the chambers?
Disrespecting our Pledge of Allegiance is more nasty than mentioning the word 'Bitch'. Not to mention, neither the Mair or anybody else has the authority to demand a certain decorum for an elected city official.
Excellent Idea! Here's the wording I vote for:
"Toot If You Can't Control Stokes"
On second thought, I'd love for Stokes to toot in council chambers and exclaim, "Take That!"
Stokes had to get serious for a minute because of the genuine threat to the city from the incompetence and corruption of the Lumumba administration.
Now he's back to playing to the basest of his base, which is what he likes. As long as Kenneth Stokes is acting foolish, you know the city is on relatively solid footing.
Why would he want to wear a hat that mispells his name?
Yep, W. Jacksonite and slum lord. How did he ever get through law school?
12:56 He's smarter and wiser than you think.
November 5, 2026 at 9:28 AM Who are you talking about? Stokes at a cocktail party? No, that is not his life.
Stokes is not a cocktail party person. On his off time, during the day, he can be found on his porch, greeting neighbors out for a walk. That "bitch" woman insulted him with a "yo mama dozens insult" and he bit her back. It's how some of us are.
The surprise here is that he even showed up for a Council meeting.
It is funny that at one point in the previous administration Stokes appeared to be the voice of reason; now that there's semblance a sane administration Stokes appears to back to "normal". Truth is Stokes was likely the same all along.
9:05 is the problem. And stokes would sell out his mama.
Why didn't the local softball throwing reporters call him on it?
Apparently "some of us" (that would be you) are also not that bright, much like Stokes. That wasn't any sort of "yo mama" insult at all. It was a comment on the complete lack of integrity possessed by Stokes.
If he gets reelected of office his constituents don’t demand some kind of censure, what does that say about THEM?
