JPD issued the following statement.
The Jackson Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving two people dead and six others injured.
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., JPD officers responded to a call regarding a shooting at the Hideaway Night Club. Upon arrival, officers discovered that multiple individuals had sustained gunshot wounds during a Halloween costume party. A large crowd of young people was gathered on the dance floor inside the club when the incident occurred.
A total of eight victims were shot. Two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene:
• Lovdia Poindexter, a 20-year-old male
• Jada Henderson, an 18-year-old female (KF: She was a JSU freshwoman)
Next of kin has been notified.
Six additional victims were transported to local hospitals with injuries that appear to be non-life-threatening. These victims include four females (ages 18, 18, 19, and 20) and two males (ages 19 and 20).
Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that two unidentified male suspects entered the club wearing ski masks shortly before the gunfire began. At some point, at least one of the suspects produced a firearm and opened fire on the crowd.
The motive and specific details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. JPD evidence technicians thoroughly processed the crime scene, recovering and logging multiple shell casings. Detectives are currently securing area surveillance footage and working to identify the suspects involved.

I hate it for the victims and their families, but this whole Jackson "kul'cha" reminds me of the comments on Mississippi State football forums this morning.

Wearing ski mask, Covid mask with a hat and hoodie up, and other combinations that hide people’s faces have been poplar among Jackson young males since 2021.
The City of Jackson, too many parents, and JPS haven’t done crap about it.
The whole city council voted to ban ski mask a year or so ago, but it’s my understanding you won’t be arrested for it unless you’re doing something else bad. It’s a city ordinance thing, not a state law thing so I don’t think Cap Police does anything about it.
Nike makes ski mask type of clothing. Many Jackson young males own them.
The State of Mississippi should really have Under Armor, New Balance, or some other clothing company make the uniforms, clothes, etc. for all of the State’s public college/university athletic programs. MC, Belhaven, and Millsaps should also sever any ties they have to Nike if they do.
We’re on course to have about 20 percent of a whole Jackson generation think it’s appropriate to hide their face unless they grow up/mature.
Too many people that have power in Jackson don’t actually live in Jackson, so this is what happens.
It’s a crying ass shame that BLM, Sharpton, and Crump do not consider those victims as being among the Black lives that matter.
