Hinds County District Attorney Brad McCullouch issued the following statement.
Hinds County District Attorney Brad McCullouch announced that Byron McBride, 20, was convicted by a Hinds County jury of two counts of Robbery and one count of Carjacking stemming from an attack on a plumbing crew in Jackson on December 28, 2022. Corey Rogers, owner of a plumbing business, and employees Milton Weeks and Wesley Pollock were working on sewer lines along Lawrence Road when three masked men approached the crew and demanded money and personal belongings.During the robbery, one of the men took Weeks' phone, wallet and keys, dragged him across the grass by his shirt collar and forced him to his knees. Rogers, who was operating a nearby mini excavator, witnessed the confrontation. The three workers ultimately managed to escape to safety by jumping a nearby fence. The suspects attempted to flee in the crew's Dodge Ram work truck but crashed into another company vehicle before fleeing on foot. Officers subsequently apprehended McBride down the street near a home. Investigators recovered a discarded mask from the home's crawlspace. DNA evidence linked McBride to the mask and blood found inside the work truck. Sentencing will take place before Hinds County Circuit Judge Faye Peterson at a later date. “These three men were simply trying to earn a living when they became victims of a frightening crime,” McCullouch said. “No one should have to face that kind of violence just for showing up to work. I commend Assistant District Attorneys Kurt Guthrie and Victoria Anderson for their hard work in securing these convictions and holding McBride accountable.
Kingfish note: Different McBride.

Judge Peterson! A week of house arrest for this errant miscreant!
I'm old enough to remember when there were no great lengths of time between a verdict and a sentencing. In many cases over the course of my life, a sentence would be handed down immediately following the end of a trial. What happened that got us to the point of finding someone guilty of a crime, and then hanging it on a nail for months before the judge comes back to it for imposing a sentence?
All of my liberal friends say that we should "rehabilitate" these people, and even let them vote from prison, because that is what
Jesus would have done. Call me the devil then, because these people belong 6 ft under
The judge is Faye Peterson? Taking bets that Byron McBride will get 12 months of home confinement.
Wish he would continue as DA, but had no chance of getting elected. Maybe the newly elected DA will be able to retain him as as the chief ADA.
Scum of the earth
"Judge Peterson", what a joke. Time served, I mean, by her standards he's learned his lesson.
It is unfortunate that they didn't get blasted
12:12 it just takes that long for GrandMa to find his bible school coloring and pictures when he was 5 years old to show to the Judge for her mercy.
I wish the Hinds County Circuit Judges would be forced to truly watch and see how the Rankin and Madison County Judges sentence the thugs that commit the crimes, but it seems like getting re-elected is more important than imposing relevant sentences.
Judge Peterson is known to give pretty stuff sentences for violent crimes. Some of these commenters clearly don't know what they are talking about.
I hope he gets the holy shit beat out of him in prison. Lumumba also. Pain is the best teacher.
Not exactly the Lufthansa Heist. How much did these three dumbasses expect to get from a plumbing crew? Lunch money?
No worries about these three perps joining Mississippi's Great Brain Drain. They're going nowhere.
Have we not heard of this guy before???
