Racism is big business for the Southern Poverty Law Center according to its tax returns. No fewer than 16 employees make over $210,000 per year while it parks $31 million offshore and enjoyed nearly $800 million in investments. Good grub if you can get it.
The most recent tax return, 2023, is posted below. The 990 reports the following information:
Total revenue: $129,063, 290
Salaries: $56 million
Grants: $2.9 million
Profit: $80 million, up from a profit of $47.7 million in 2022.
Total assets: $822,198,315

Despite racking in the dough, the Center spent some money:

SPLC enjoys a rather healthy portfolio with $770.5 million in investments. The investments include $30.7 million placed in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Center awarded $3.3 million to other organizations for lobbying purposes. However, SPLC somehow lost money on fund-raising.
SPCL awarded various amounts to schools as well. It distributed $20,700 to the Cleveland School District and $35,000 to Tougaloo College.
As one can see, fighting racism is big business for the Southern Poverty Law Center. So which is more important to the SPLC, fighting racism or collecting the cash?
It makes one wonder if the Southern Poverty Law Center really wants to see racism go away.

Sounds like the opposite end of the spectrum from Alex Jones, but one common denominator - made a lot of money off of ignorance.
More like a lotta money can be made off of white guilt. SPLC was/is/will continue to be a grift.

That organization never passed the smell test. They gambled that no one would scrutinize them given their “front” but thankfully someone did.
Before Jody Owens ran for DA, he was working for Southern Poverty but resigned amid a flurry of sexual harassment complaints. This information was available to the voters before his first election. They chose to ignore it.
On the first day of the session this year, the lobbyist for SPLC was carrying a Louboutin purse and of course the heels. But what really got my attention was that the heels had a strange vamp decoration that had the Louboutin "L" logo. It caught my eye because Louboutin's don't usually have a visible logo, the red bottom is how you know. Never seen that before so later I looked it up. Apparently SPLC needed $800 accessories for their $1100 heels to match the $1800 Cabata tote. What else does one wear to march on the Capitol to fight against the rights of impoverished black parents to choose their kid's school?
$822M will solve a lot of poverty issues......

The DEM put a pretty face on modern slavery called handouts (LBJ) and entitlements, with no regard to a "hand up". The same party behind the KKK, never changed, they pivoted and many of our brown brothers and sisters can't see it or refuse to as they're too complacent with the freebies to join the rest of us contributing and thriving which with the same amount of contribution, they're entitled to and capable of as human beings.
