D.L. Gardner: Abortion Survivors Don't Play Politics

Many of us are just tired of political drivel and meaningless talking points. Saturday night I was ready to watch college football. Our Bulldogs were playing the Toledo Rockets. I knew nothing about the Rockets, and had not seen our Bulldogs on TV this season. So I cranked up the radio to hear our announcers commentate on our players and coaches 15-seconds before the TV showed the action.

It wasn’t long before I realized I was watching the football equivalent of the debate earlier in the week. Vice President Harris’ team featured two star players who doubled as officials when former president Trump answered questions. David Muir, anchor of ABC World News Tonight teamed with LinseyDavis who anchors the Sunday edition of World News Tonight fact-checked former president Trump at least 5 times during the 90-minute debate. They did not fact-check Harris.

Frankly, I don’t want to relive either game. The Bulldogs will live to play another day and hopefully beat their next opponents. The two presidential candidates may debate again before the election. Hopefully someone will find two moderators who will be fair and balanced to both candidates instead of two sycophants currying political favors.

Abortion is the keystone policy of the Democratic ticket this year and viewers weren’t surprised when the candidates were asked about their policies. Traditionally at this level of politics each candidate appears to know what their opponent’s positions are better than the oppenent himself or herself. We call this “the lying game.”

For example, former president Trump charged that the Democratic Party supports late-term abortions. VP Harris countered by responding, “Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion.” Oops! That’s where she’s wrong. Twenty-one states allow abortion until birth, and there is evidence babies have survived late-term abortions only to die from neglect.

Earlier this month an article in the Daily Signal a publication of the Heritage Foundation cited a number of accounts. “In 2022, pro-life advocates found the remains of five babies whom abortionist Cesare Santangelo aborted late in their term or possibly after birth at the Washington Surgi-Clinic in Washington, D.C. The Biden-Harris Justice Department advised the District of Columbia to destroy the evidence.” “Although only eight states currently require that the data be reported, official statistics show 277 babies were born alive during abortions” so far in 2024.

And then, VP Harris claimed that pro-life protection laws prevented doctors from treating women suffering from miscarriages. She said she had spoken with women “being denied care in an emergency room, because the health care providers are afraid they might go to jail.” There is no pro-life law in America that prohibits doctors from caring for miscarriages.

One has to appreciate President Reagan’s comment, “I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” Not only that, but America has The Abortion Survivors Network founded by an abortion survivor in 2011. It turns out that fetuses are people too. Many share their survival stories as well as challenges they have faced over their own lifetimes.

DL said “Many of us are just tired of political drivel and meaningless talking points.”

The lack of insight into self is breathtaking.

The reason Trump was fact checked is because he told lies. Here is a fact check for you too DL. Saying it happens is a ways different from it being legal or that democrats support it. I could say folks in Starkville eat dogs and cats .

Abortion is an “issue” that only appeals to the most emotional, lowest common denominator of voter. I wish we were debating stuff like Martian Independence or funding the next fleet of warp drive starships. Nope. It’s still Jews vs Arabs and Abortion for citizens and mass illegal immigration for us!

Funny to see Gardner complain about political drivel, since that is his specialty.

As usual, DL offers a lie from an unreliable source.
I suspect that DL has female relatives who had an abortion even before Roe v Wade. So have any men reading this with female relatives who lived to child bearing age.
When a woman's ob-gyn didn't have to worry about being arrested, he performed D&C's frequently on women who complained of heavy bleeding or abdominal pain. These women most often had an incomplete miscarriage. Sometimes, in home births or small hospitals, it was missed if fragments remained of the afterbirth. ( Somehow I suspect DL and others don't have a clue what afterbirth is and should look it up). IF the D&C hadn't been performed, there would have been a serious infection and possibility hysterectomy or death.
A D&C and abortion are the same procedure. The only difference is a pregnancy test .Do remember that pregnancy tests weren't a stick and a rabbit had to die.
Miscarriage is common in first pregnancies.
And, I had a mother and aunts and uncles and cousins who would tell you they'd rather their mother hadn't died in childbirth. They wish an abortion had been an option. I have an aunt who would have loved to have had children but had a tubal pregnancy that became infected .
You cannot legislate all of the medical complications of pregnancy and not screw it up.
Even during Roe v Wade, IF you and your wife or your mother and fathers of their pregnancy didn't want to abort for religious reasons, you could assume the risks.
So you look at your wife or daughter or sister and be sure you'd rather attend their funeral and ask a mortician the options for burial of a pregnant mother who died.
The ignorance is stunning. Most young girls are irregular at first. One friend didn't suspect her daughter was pregnant until she started showing at five months. Until then, she couldn't tell. Irregular period and the way she was constructed just made it seem she was "developing" and that she was seduced by a teacher who had no business sleeping with a 14 year old never occurred to the mother. Needless to say, the marriage didn't last. The story gets worse from there....
Why don't you just let a family be responsible for themselves and their souls on this? There are plenty of laws keeping our courts busy without adding abortion to the menu.
DL? Do you not think those who had an abortion can be saved? Do you think you don't go to church with any? Maybe you should get the medical records of every woman in your congregation!

When and who decided to allow women to abort a child with the only reason is they didn't want a child? One more question. Why is the father of the child not allowed to have an opinion?

Here it is ladies, and gentlemen, the great wall of text. That wall in China has nothing on this poster.

Your assumptions are making an ass of you. I was raised in a household that included my mother, and four sisters. My wife and I had three daughters. I'm very familiar with the problems that women may, or may not, have.

From reading your post, what a wall of text, you act as if women aren't killing every child born, they are in some form of bondage. Where did you get such an outlook?

Women in believing households aren't servants that have no say in decisions. Husbands are to love their wives, as Christ loves the church, and gave Himself for it. So should the husbands give themselves to their wives, sacrificing their will for the good of their wives. That is a biblical marriage.

Tell us, where in America can a woman not get an abortion if the mother's life is in danger? You are like the rest of the green haired rabel rousers that want to use abortion as a form of birth control.

A nonviable fetus is a "pre-life" only, not a life.

It’s funny how so many religious claims that their god is almighty and all powerful, yet they don’t trust their god to handle any punishment himself. Instead they need to do it… seems to me they don’t really believe

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a new leader as the goofiest post of the year. It is certainly the most non-scientific post.

Quoting KFF.org on policy is about as non-biased as quoting the Democratic National Committee. Have you looked at their Board of Trustees?

Anonymous said...

KKF.org claims that occurrences of "late term abortions" are false. If KFF's claim is true why does KFF.org oppose prohibitions on late term abortions?

9:49 AM,
there are too many plain lies in your post to address each one. I'll just say the entire post is a pile of BS and save everyone the time . Ask a real medical professional about what you wrote and they'll say you're lying .

My late father, an attorney, was part of what could termed a profile underground railroad. He and my mother took in rescued babies destined for death by abortion and my father handled the adoptions pro bono. There was never any shortage of couples willing to adopt, but one special little newborn girl captured them and they adopted her. My beautiful sister, 14 years younger than me, is now an adult and a gift to the world. As my late mother said, "You grew under my heart. Your sister grew in my heart."

I have always considered abortion a convenient way for predatory men to take advantage of girls and women and escape their responsibility. I have never understood why the vaunted women lib groups haven't picked up on that.

The republicans need to stay out of this. No good comes from telling women and their doctors what care they are allowed to receive. Leave it up to the professionals and not buffoons like Daniel.

@12:31 Just read about the history of the people who pushed abortion. Not exalty the poster child in Roe V. Wade. The people behind the whole thing are all members of a death cult who crave child blood sacrifice for pagan gods. The doctors who perform the abortions also perform rituals. I’m not kidding or schizo. Research “Moloch Child Sacrifices.”

Who's going to pay to raise these 'unwanted' births, as bad as I hate to use that term? Its sad we live in a society where someone feels the need to have an abortion. But it is the Cycle of Life. Every situation is different. If you've never been pregnant, I personally don't think you should have the right to vote. It's kinda like telling someone to put there 10 year old dog down because he's loosing his eye site...if you've never had a dog you do NOT know how it feels or what it's like. I'd rather my teenage daughter get a clean legal abortion when she's 17 and live through it so she can provide me 3 grandchildren to love on for the rest of my life, than to be digging her dead body out of the woods because of a illegal sham of an abortion or because she did it herself because of a TikTok video. Also, many countries have shown children raised with no love, affection, support, are usually the ones that become criminals. They have no empathy or remorse because they were never shown that as a child. The country has thousands of other issues they could be solving right now that could improve society and lower the abortion rate in the 1st place. The majority of abortions, non medical related is FINANCES.

Anonymous said...

What makes you think you will get three grandchildren if you support the death of the first? With all the free birth control provided by states, why should there be a need for abortions?

So, you think that being pregnant should be a requirement for voting eligibility? I think you should own a certain amount of land to be eligible to vote.

What anti- abortion people don't seem to understand is that this is an awful decision for a woman and her family. And, that it's none of your business!
Women here don't need wannabee evangelical Ayatollahs or morality police making decisions for them.
Women are actually more capable of making ethical decisions than men as male domination of brutal and violent crime statistics and corruption case proves.
Women can even be great con artists as my relative proved in her evangelical " show" she took to Florida and she laughed all the way to her limousine.

Al Jazeera originated this "tale" and if you bothered with being sure you told the truth, you'd know that DL.
If you have any knowledge at all about the medical science, you'd know an abortion is not going to result in a live birth.
And, if you weren't deliberately ignorant, you'd know that no child born alive can be legally killed in any state. That has NEVER been legal even during Roe v Wade.
I'm so sick of the lies of politicians who now , thanks to us being gullible and irresponsible citizens, are too often con artists who will do anything and say anything to win.

You have no credibility, you lost all credibility when you said an abortion has never resulted in a live birth. That is an out, and out lie.

The great obama said that everyone could keep their doctor with obama care. We see how that turned out.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
