The MSPB won’t stop them from praying and they don’t consider it a violation of your rights since you can just walk out.

The Pledge was written by a Socialist - Bellamy. Look it up. Its purpose is to encourage slavish devotion to a purge nation-state. Loyalty to the United States is misplaced. Jefferson wrote in the Declaration that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish a government that becomes abusive of their rights. The current one has become so, much more so than that of Britain in the late 18th century toward its American colonies. It’s time we stop declaring allegiance to it by habitually reciting the Pledge. If we owe loyalty it is to our state, at the most. Loyalty to family, neighbors, and community is what is important.

Our Southern veteran ancestors were deprived of the right to vote unless they recited a similar oath. I will not dishonor their memory by willingly reciting this one.

By now everyone in Jackson should know the mayor's politics. If they don't they are illiterate. I would be shocked, and I mean shocked, if he would stand and recite the pledge of allegiance. 1. Lead the pledge of allegiance with your constituents and council. Walking out on a one-off basis may not be a big deal, but if this happens consistently it begs the question of whether he supports the pledge of allegiance to the USA?

Many of the folks outraged by this conduct continue to glorify and honor leaders of the violent rebellion against the USA and its “all men are created equal” spirit with Confederate monuments in public spaces and our state constitution and state statutory hall busts to racists. This is indicative I think of his core beliefs about government, that it was created by white men and deserves to be exploited for his people. Which is how he gets away with most of his strategy around the garbage contract. He understands the law well enough to stress it’s weak points, and so far has suffered very little consequences. As long as his “free the land” supporters, who equally despise this country and whites in general, continue to support his antics there is little hope of him changing his approach for the remainder of his term.

For example the Irish potato famine was in the 1840s and 1850s, then came the war to end slavery in the South in the 1860s. Did you know more people of Irish descent are thought to live in the US than in Ireland?

According to the internet. There were two million Union soldiers in the Civil War. Over 75 percent were white. A good chunk were new to the US.

Has it occurred to you that a crap ton of white people around the country descend from people that fought to end slavery or that fought the racist NAZI, etc.? I doubt many people descend from people that lived lavish antebellum homes and owned slaves.

Not reciting the pledge is not disrespectful at all. Disrespectful would be interrupting others when they are reciting it. Also, a lot of people who proclaim to be so loyal to this country has never, ever and will never, ever volunteer to serve in any branch of the military. As my son in the navy explained to me, he serves so that the rest of us will always have the RIGHT to complain and express our opinions. I am one of those people who will never, ever volunteer to serve in the military.

I was taught, rightly or wrongly, that you don't have to pray or pledge. However, you should be respectful. He could have simply stood up. Ducking out and ducking could be seen as disrespectful.
