Governor Tate Reeves issued the following statement.
Governor Tate Reeves today announced he signed two bills that protect children from accessing obscene, inappropriate, and pornographic materials.
Governor Reeves signed Senate Bill 2346 which regulates pornographic media exposure online and requires commercial entities that provide such content to have age verification systems in place.
He also signed House Bill 1315 which regulates pornographic media exposure in K-12 schools, including digital and online resources provided by vendors to children as young as kindergartners.
“With the rise of technology and social media, it has never been easier for children to access pornographic materials,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “That can have really disastrous effects on children’s long-term mental health and development. I can only imagine how tough it is to be a child in today’s society. It seems like everywhere you turn, social media and the entertainment industry are pushing hypersexualized content on the youngest members of our society. We’re going to push back on that in Mississippi. That’s why I signed this legislation that will make our kids safer.”
Campaigns by parents across the country have emerged to loudly condemn the spread of pornographic materials, especially in schools. These bills directly respond to the calls for action by those moms and dads.
Many have raised concerns about the psychological impact that pornographic material has had on those who access it, especially children. Age verification systems have been a widely promoted tool to address this emerging issue.

Will this be like beer websites that ask "Are you 21 y/o or older?"
Does this include woke democrats? They are pretty obscene.
Does this mean I will have to verify my age everytime I log on?
This is literally a huge puzzle piece in the WEF/Cyber Polygon forced internet identification roadmap.
It’s always about the kiddos, right?
Tate is a tool!
And teenagers will get around those roadblocks in about 3 minutes.
They law should have forced ISPs to filter it with the parental option to contact the ISP to have it disabled for their account, if desired.
I never understood why ISPs don't see this option as a "feature" they could sell consumers like cable TV did decades ago.
So states can regulate interstate commerce now?
Since it is a World Wide Web, how does he plan to enforce this for all the websites that aren’t headquartered in Mississippi?
Senate Bill 2346 is completely unenforceable. If I'm wrong, someone please explain how.
Republicans keep trying to legislate Christian morality. When will they learn that having a state full of priests would only make our kids much more likely to be sexually assaulted.
These things tend to backfire with unintended consequences. It’s just like the book banning, they just wanted it to affect homosexuals and didn’t think that all the stories of rape, incest, and sexual deviance would classify the Bible as pornography. I remember when Tipper Gore tried this with swear words in music, still makes me laugh at just how dumb these politicians really are. Can we sue the legislature and governor when our state issued identification is hacked because everyone sent them to some shady porn site in China?
Complete waste of government resources to pretend that something has actually been done. Got to love some politicians. Always one hand raised to God while the other hand is in the taxpayers pocket.
no websites are going to comply with this except maybe the largest ones like playboy and pornhub.
so ironic given the fact that MS rates #3 for online porn watching per capita..
Enjoy living in that unfree South. Just how in the hell can you ACTUALLY verify someone's age without collecting way too much personal info? The easy solution is to just block traffic from MS. Done.
Can he also pass a bill to block under age girls from buying $99 poorly fitting tights and Hotty hot track shorts and parading around with them in public like it’s the red light district.
7:00. Let’s just live out the handmade’s tale. We basically are here anyway.

That is EXACTLY what this is about. Once again, Governor Quisling Sundayschoolteacher is helping implement the Chinafication of America. Pretty soon, you won't be able to do ANY search about ANYTHING, without it being linked to your personal information. You won't be able to get the truth about the next "pandemic", without Big Brother's knowing you know the official narrative is full of lies. Every political or health video you watch on Rumble or Odysee, will get noted. Eventually, all that has been recorded, will be incorporated into your Social Credit Score.
I once worked at a large corporation headquartered in another state. I used my company computer once in an attempt to find out what my draft lottery number had been in 1968. That attempt was blocked and denied by the I.T. system.
Why? Because I used the word Lottery in my Google search.
God help me if Tater finds out I've researched plants and looked up Pussy Willow.

You people are hilariously clueless. The fact that they let ignorants like you vote, is why this nation is in the shape it is in. Your next search should’ve been “how do I bypass my office web filter” and you would’ve received this answer: Just type https:// in front of any URL to bypass the web filter. Web browsers like Firefox add it automatically. You can even do it on state.gov computers. It’s how state employees spend their days wasting our tax dollars. Simple as.

But, the leaders of other denominations are squeaky clean -- right?
Come next election there’s going to be a passel of politicians all saying we should vote for them because they voted for (or supported or approved) legislation that protects “our kids” from online porn. The goobers will eat that shit up.
It's Virtue Signalling - conservative version.
I agree with the message here but here is my message to my Republican pols. Quit trying to legislate morals, that utopian boat has sailed and won't be back. We need to focus on winning elections and stop alienating independent voters. We can accomplish a lot more that way.
As a conservative, this stuff is so embarrassing.
We look as dumb as the liberal idiots.
This is literally virtue signalling, and as 8:32 said...the goobers will eat it up.
God help us.

No. I was a state employee and the state's ITS would not allow this "trick" to work. The filters/algorithms worked very well. Too well, in fact. You couldn't get on many legitimate, legal websites.
7:50 AM, what are you even talking about? The overwhelming majority of web traffic is already HTTPS; that does nothing to bypass web filters or stop your employer from snooping on your activity.
Who gets to decide if it is obscene?
I can't define porn but I know it when I see it.
Sadly all you need is a VPN to bypass this. Discord needs to be shut down period. It is a groomers haven for trannies, furries, and the LGBTQ brigade. This 5th column preys on the awkward and disenfranchised and has indoctrinated million of underage kid into believing their parents are evil capitalist breeders.
Great. More annoying pop ups. You only have so many hands.
Tater simply saw the loss of votes if he vetoed this legislation.

This whole thread is just unfreakingbelievable! Many of you would probably call yourself conservative or maybe even Christian- whatever the hell that means these days! This is not a moral issue on any level - it is a public health crisis you unaware sheeple. You have been so seduced by the pornified culture you are completely blind. Go look at the statistics on sexual assaults on college campuses, in the military, and calls to the National Sexual Assault Hotline. If you’re not completely ignorant you will notice a trend - look at the proliferation of broadband (hi-speed) internet and the advent of smartphones and you will notice a matching trend unless you’re a complete dumba** or Baptist pastor - one and the same BTW! Look at the statistics from the American Board of Matrimonial Lawyers and over 57% of divorces involve excessive use of pornography. Abortion, STD’s, Divorces, Assaults, Rape, Sex Trafficking, Prostitution, etc…all of these things are now out of control and we’re seeing the complete breakdown of the greatest society that ever was and pornography has been a major contributor if not the main one. Go read the history of Dr. Alfred Kinsey, Hugh Hefner & the Sexual Anarchy of the 60’s & 70’s. The goal was the destruction of the nuclear family. Welcome to 2023 America! They’ve won and you people are the stupidest among us for not seeing that this is an issue. The internet porn available today ain’t your grandaddies Playboy - it is dark, evil, and dehumanizing. The sexting (your teenagers) & hookup app culture (you) is fueled by an entire generation of innocents that have been participants in the greatest and worst social experiment in the history of the world - Hi-Speed Internet Porn & the Experiment Generation (Google that and watch the documentary of the same title - you might get a clue!) the novelty, variety, anonymity, accessibility, and affordability (it’s free) is the most destructive human experiment since the slaughters of the Holocaust. Wake up! Close the porn website open on the other screen right now and get your head out of URANUS! We’ve down the wind, reaped the whirlwind but the tsunami is coming!
