Victory!!!

Governor Tate Reeves issued the following statement.

Governor Tate Reeves, in coordination with State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs and MEMA Executive Director Stephen McCraney, today announced the extension of Mississippi’s State of Emergency for an additional eight days, and its termination effective at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

"With more than 3,000,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine having been administered in Mississippi and with COVID-19 infections and resulting hospitalizations being effectively managed, it's time to end the State of Emergency," said Governor Tate Reeves. "The additional eight day extension will provide state agencies with ample time to prepare for the State of Emergency's termination."

The virus doesn't care.

4:39, true. And as of today, the virus isn't overwhelming our health care system, and its effects are on the back side of the curve - despite some folks who think we should have continuing controls on everybody.

The State of Emergency has been extended the past couple of months in order to justify/qualify the spending by NG and MDH on the vaccination efforts.

The virus won't care about how the bills are paid - because the virus is only hitting a few hundred daily, not a few thousand. And most of those few hundred are not requiring hospitalization. Thus, no emergency.

But maybe somebody needs to tell the honorable Mayor of Jackson that there is no longer an emergency - he has loved it as an excuse to award multiple no-bid contracts over the past 18 months. Jackson will probably remain under a State of emergency for a year or more.

Let me provide a more accurate belief held by Sweet Tater - "If they die, they die. I am the governor and so say I."

e pluribus No Vactus, Whateverus Don't careus!

Does this mean he will have time to focus on MMJ? The stoners are upset that he didn’t call a special session to deal with it.

5:42, Jackson is in worse than an emergency. It's going to hell in a hand basket.

Reminds me of the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

So a guy who praises anti vaxers and hates government authority praises the vaccine and says it’s over but in 8 magical days…..

The same guy who said the state flag was voted on as he changed the flag…..

The same guy who said he had no authority to mandate vaccines but mandated masks and shut down the entire state

The same guy who said he would call a special session for marijuana and now won’t call one….

This guy must get tired of the lies…..gotta be hard just to keep up

11 joints of dope a day! That little kid in the wheelchair is going to be medicated out of his gourd.

Well, I’ll stand up for the governor. Seeing how other states were managed throughout the pandemic. I believe Tate did a great job balancing and navigating MS through the last couple years. We’ve been attentive to the virus and treated it like reasonable and rational people. We also guarded against destroying our economy, liberties, and general way of life.

I don’t know Tate and don’t have any history with him, but I’m sure glad we didn’t go through what others have had to endure.

Anti-marijuana people are idiots. Close minded and holier than thou... most of them drink like a fish.

Weed doesn't inhibit your ability to do anything. And it makes a lot of things better.

5:45. thanks for commenting governor..

by the way- did you know MS has the highest death rate in the USA from covid when adjusted for population?

did you know we are losing population?

we didn’t realize how good we had it with Phil Bryant as governor..

Good job Kingfish, you censoring piece of shit. Hopefully you catch Covid and get fucked, Joe Rohan wannabe mother fucker.

I think there are 10,182 people who disagree with you.

Let me speak Rankin County... That's the entire city of Flowood... dead. Not every one is because of the governor, but a lack of masks, vaccines in arms, and generally haphazard handling of the pandemic certainly contributed. And that's on him (and any one else espousing 'freedumb' and 'personal responsibility' whilst not getting a vaccine).

But hey your 'general way of life' is intact. So there's that.

Fuck off.

[Potheads] Cannabis users at 'much higher' risk of developing mental health issues

In a new study, published in Psychological Medicine, researchers in the University of Birmingham's Institute for Mental Health and the Institute of Applied Health Research found a strong link between general practice recorded cannabis use and mental ill health in one of the largest cohorts ever explored.
.....
The cannabis users also had much higher rates of having a recorded history of using other drugs such as heroin, cocaine and amphetamines.

7:59 - that’s a delusional line of thought. We, the populace, are the reason for our death toll. Look around at us. It’s evident. We are losing population because of us and what we’ve become. There is no one person, especially a politician who’s just recently been in office to say “now you are the reason Mississippi is Mississippi.” Quit projecting and assume responsibility for yourself and your state.

I didn't approve his comment because he was wishing people dead. There have been more than a few comments wishing people or political opponents dead by catching Covid. Comments about using Covid to cleanse the gene pool of conservatives are made as well. Surprise surprise that those don't get approved. Wishing people dead is a good way to make sure your comment is not approved on this website.

Governor impaired "vaccines in arms"? Nope. Not close.

8:51 conveniently leaves out a few facts. Mississippi is the fattest state in the country during a pandemic where the virus feast on the fat. That is not fat shaming nor fat phobic, it is the simple scientific truth. Around 40% of our population is obese. The Department of Health reported a couple of years ago that nearly 50% of black women are obese. Look at the health department stats. 80% of the deaths are obese, diabetics, hypertension, and heart problems. Oh, and studies show 76% of Blacks are vitamin D deficient, which directly impacts their immune systems and their ability to handle the virus.

Where I blame Dr. Dobbs and the Governor is there has been no public campaign to reduce obesity in the state which would ultimately improve covid outcomes.

Sadly this MAN MADE VIRUS was engineered to replicate and adapt. Vaccines are pointless and dare I say natural immunity is also pointless. This thing IS AN ATTACK on humanity and is doing exactly what it suppose to do. There is no victory in a fight like this. Only survival.

At first glance over 3,000,000 vaccines administered sounds good.
The population of the Mississippi is about 2,990,000 --

The 3,000,000 vaccines given thus far include first, second, and booster shots .

So, I'm not the smartest person, but may we assume that less than half of the total population has
been fully vaccinated?? And probably more than half of the population have not received the first shot?

Anonymous said...

Damn you, Kingfish, you stole my thunder! I was going to comment that our state is a bunch of fatasses, and that FACT in and of itself it why our death toll from covid has been so high. If you take the fatass part out the equation, then I would say we have faired pretty well.

Pot dopers add to their stoning with alchohol, coke, speed, LSD etc. The mj diminishes inhibition, ambition and responsibility.

I admit I've never liked mj, it gives me a headache and nausea, so I passed on it and other drugs while others around me, all over another state, indulged frequently.

Anecdotally: In this other state over many years I witnessed hundreds getting whacked on weed and nearly always supplementing their high with additional drugs, nearly always becoming irresponsible even when not stoned.

Governor Reeves has been negotiating for some time with the pro mj faction to severely limit the transition of it's use from "medical" to "recreational", which devious occurrence has been common in other states.

“The virus doesn't care.”

It was never about a virus. If it was the national guard would be at the border keeping the invaders out instead of helping them cross. Then these parasites get shipped to red states.

Tate deserves credit for ending the emergency order, but he needs to be called out for going against the will of the people on the marijuana issue. You’re against marijuana? Fine… don’t smoke it. You believe Covid is a deadly virus? Then wear your stupid, worthless, paper mask, take your jab and stop trying to control everybody else. If the “vaccines” and masks are so effective then you shouldn’t need to worry about what other people are doing. 99.9997 survival rate. Get a grip, people.

What y'all complaining about? Still gonna die of something. When and how is up for grabs.

Sometimes as an observational curiosity, wholly without loathing, I count the obese vs the normal appearing BMI in a grocery store, especially Walmart. It has been as lopsided as 40 to 4 in Jackson before I become depressed and quit.

Often, Black women seem to be saddled with a genetic predisposition toward enormous figures and KF is right, how often does Dr. Dobbs recommend skipping soft drinks, processed and fried and fatty and sugary and high carb foods and adding daily exercise?

These same huge people often buy wonder-bread, bologna, pink slime processed hot dog weiners, fried chicken, soda pop, candy, chips and other trash for themselves and their families. Could MS and the Food Stamp/EBT/SNAP program exert more recommendations/requirements?

Init65 signature gatherers at MSU were telling students there that Mississippi had to pass medical marijuana first in order to then get recreational legalized. That was the modus in other states. There can be little doubt the same message was being shared on other state campuses.

It's nuts to suggest nothing is ever said or emphasized to reduce obesity in this state. We could spend billions in that effort, but, as long as the government pushes slop (in the form of entitlements) out the back of cargo trucks, those who crave it are going to show up and feast.

And to assume (talking to you, KF) my post is racist, race based, aimed at women or aimed at men or children, or Hinds and Rankin or Pelahatchie or North State is also nuts.

This state, conjoined with the efforts and cash of at least 80 federal Department of Labor Programs (over the past 60 years) has spent untold millions in efforts to encourage people to work. The same reality applies there as would apply to spending billions to fight obesity.

One thing Reeves has proven is that when it comes to moving public opinion the Barksdalers and Ladd's MFP/JFP have no influence. Zilch.

Anonymous said...

KF - you need to add that Mississippi is the stupidest state in the country too. People using witch doctors to treat and prevent COVID with horse medicine.

Governor has a double standard. State Agencies, such as the Public Utilities Staff, he oversees still work from home or only half days due to covid.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
