State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
A little over 30 days ago, my office issued demands on several individuals ordering them to repay misspent welfare money. As I said at the time, if any of those individuals failed to repay the money, the demands will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office, which is in charge of enforcing the demands in court. My team has now forwarded the unpaid demands to the AG’s office. My understanding is the Attorney General and the Department of Human Services have given authority to a private attorney to recoup the misspent money. We have been in contact with that attorney and will provide any information he needs.

A private attorney? Are they paying him a commission based on the amount collected? Fitch is heading right back down the road of AG Moore and letting favored friends get the big paydays. There is no reason this couldn't be handled more efficiently and cheaper to the taxpayers with in-house counsel.
Good Luck!
Private lawyer ? WHY ? Well, besides the quid pro quo.
Apparently y’all haven’t sought assistance from Lynn’s office. The standard response is “the office does not have the manpower or expertise to assist in this matter.
11:28 This is how the $10,000 donors at the pheasant hunt get paid back. When they get their pockets lined tenfold they will then be able to donate to her campaign when she runs for governor.
This could be a good move for the AG. Her office has associated Pigott to handle the civil suit, which if handled properly should generate the disclosure of documents and information that Shad’s office may or may not have. He does have the reputation within his office of indicting first and investigating later. If Shad is right about these folks, Lynn will jump on the bandwagon. If he’s wrong, Lynn would stand to gain politically by disclosing any reckless or negligent acts by the Auditor’s Office. Make no mistake, Shad and Lynn are political enemies and competitors. He’s put the pressure on her to take this thing now. If he’s wrong in any way, she’ll hammer him for political points. They’re in each other’s way.
So why are they not going after Entergy for paying an electric bill with ill gotten money? If the party has no idea where the money came from and did what was asked then there should be no recourse against them. Now if Brett was suppose to speak and didn't, got paid anyway that may raise a flag.

This could also indicated that you lack a clue. Your comment contains several generalizations which are inaccurate. Seems you are outside a crotchety looking in
Shad is picking and choosing who he wants to go after. He’s demanding all the money back, but only going after a handful of companies and individuals.
Unless you've read Brett's contract with DHS, you have no idea what it required. If it was written so vague, then possibly there is no way criminal action can be taken.
So, apparently the Mississippi AG is merely a "broker" or "coordinator" of legal services? WTF are they being paid? Anybody could do that job! What a completely bogus "Attorney General" office. Basically you could privatize the office, and just have an "administrator" of the contract. No PERS to pay, or state healthcare, nor salary.
Shad is on to her worthless ass.
Right now, Lynn has 8 attorneys in her office working on the abortion case.
Well, 10:29, maybe so, even if at this point the only thing left to do is to prepare for oral argument. The abortion case is a very important one, but for Lynn Fitch it is important only because it gets her name in the lights. As for the day-to-day work of the attorney general's office, it is true that it is less capable of handling the State's run-of-the-mill business. Fitch ran off most of the existing staff and replaced them with people who don't have any idea what they are supposed to be doing. Fitch herself is more of an observer of the office than someone running it. Nothing is so like Fitch than her penchant for going to watch her staff argue cases, not because she is assessing their abilities as for the purpose of being part of the scene. She will be in Washington when the abortion case is argued, even though there is no purpose at all for her being there. Thank God she is not going to argue the case.
