If her case does nothing else it should raise public disgust with the slow pace of appeals from justice and municipal court to county court. At the very least DUI cases should be given a priority so that they are not simply dismissed like parking tickets when they become "stale". It's ridiculous.

The politics of bail in Hinds County. If a thug kills a thug or even an innocent child during a drive-by the thug gets very low bail and may not even to go trial.

But a white woman allegedly tragically kills some people in a DUI incident she does not get bail. Sounds kind of racist to me.

Could someone explain to this non-lawyer what a "Special County Court Judge" is?

Also, why has Judge Jess Dickinson cleared the charges in her previous cases? Is that a "get out of a sentence" legal strategy... to appeal the sentence and wait for it to die in the system? Just curious. Seems like this lady should have been behind bars well before now.

I know it, and you know it. If this girl were black and this happened in the city of Jackson, she would be driving the city streets as we speak. This is as race driven as any of the 50’s and 60’s race issues. The real loser is Jackson. The people (black and white) who can afford to leave are doing just that, to benefit of Ridgeland and Madison (city) and various other small towns.

Unfortunately, I have witnessed an accident at that intersection and driven up to a couple of others. Usually it is some a-hole running a light because they can't be bothered to stop.

The same way drunk drivers travel on the entirely wrong side of the interstate, 1:48.
All while dozens of Do Not Enter signs exist as well as oncoming traffic headlights clearly indicate they are in the wrong.

Why does this case require a grand jury?

Who ever was at fault probably had their face buried in their phone. I really would like to see a report and eye witness account of what happened. A young mother and child lost their life.

I witnessed a wreck years ago involving two intoxicated drivers. The driver at fault died, he crossed the center double yellow line and hit the other guy head on. The other driver did what he could to avoid the guy and was clearly not at fault from what I saw BUT he was convicted of and locked up for dui mutilation/disfigurement. Even with my statement and testimony he was still locked up for a number of years.

1:48, come through there as the sun is setting and you can barely see the light. Not making excuses at all, what she did was terrible, but that intersection has a history of bad wrecks late in the evening when the sun sets low.

Hello all, too many to respond to, so mass message. When I was 17, I literally drank 3 fifths of vodka over a 36 hour period. At no point did I fall asleep. At no point would I have ever run a stoplight. At no point did I hallucinate and assume I was on a roller coaster at Didney Lan. She absolutely at some point had to have been on some kind of old lady, weak-human, dipshit psych meds or pain killers “for muh back!!” Still CANNOT under any circumstances understand those fuckwits that drive the wrong way on the interstate, makes zero sense at all unless you’ve eaten 12 sheets of high powered blotter acid. Are The Olds just incapable of handling their shit?
