Clinton Fattening Up

The city of Clinton issued the following statement.

Atlas Greek Down South and the City of Clinton announce their first stand-alone restaurant at 732 Clinton Parkway (former Fuzzy’s Taco location).

Relocating from Cultivation Food Hall in Jackson, this will be Atlas’ first stand-alone restaurant. Atlas Greek Down South is famous for its blend of Greek and southern dishes that feature Greek staples such as gyros, hummus plates, and salads, each with a Southern twist. Unique to the menu are their Atlas fries; crispy potato spiral on a stick with a side feta comeback.

“I am very pleased that Atlas chose Clinton as its first location. It speaks well of the City’s economy. I look forward to seeing them succeed and prosper,” stated Mayor Phil Fisher.

The new location will strive to continue the tradition of serving the freshest and tastiest Southern-style Greek platters. The restaurant will consist of a full functioning bar. Atlas Greek Down South will bring new jobs and first of its kind Greek concept to Clinton.

“I am really excited about bringing our American Greek Down South restaurant to Clinton right off the Parkway. We feel like Clinton is an amazing opportunity to be part of the community. We want you to support us as we support you,” stated owner Chad Segrest.

Chad Segrest is a veteran in the restaurant industry in the Jackson metro area for close to eleven years.

In the works for several months, Atlas Greek Down South was recruited to Clinton by Economic Development Director Gabriel Prado and Mayor Phil Fisher. According to Segrest, Mayor Phil Fisher and Gabriel Prado were important advocates in the recruitment to make this new restaurant a reality.

“We are very excited about coming to Clinton, we think that there are a lot of opportunities. The Mayor and the Economic Director have been wonderful,” stated Mr.  Segrest.

“It is a privilege to have Atlas as a new restaurant in Clinton. For them to choose our city over other markets in the metro area is a testament of our economic strength and the amazing team that helped make this happen. Clinton is situated for more economic success in the near future,” sated Gabriel Prado, Director of Economic Development.

Clinton officials believe that the location along Clinton Parkway is ideal for the success of the new business and a prime location for the future growth of additional businesses to the community.

Note: Clinton is also getting a Sonny's BBQ.

Leaving Cultivation Hall for Clinton. That’s a kick in the gut.

I'm sure they will be opening at the same time as the Steak N' Shake on Hampstead Blvd announced in January 2020...

Alright! Sonny's will do real good in Clinton. That's the story.

Interesting that another tenant is leaving the upscale mall food court at The District. Clinton has a far better police department & lower crime rate than Jackson, lower taxes too, no doubt.

Great news for Clinton !

I'll stop and eat a gyro next time I'm passing through.

I love a good gyro !

Perhaps someone learned a marketing lesson.

The dumb ass investors didn't spend two hours researching Jackson, Mississippi before they wasted millions of their inheritance.

@ 5:15 & 5:32

Interesting? It’s the whole concept of an upscale food hall. The whole purpose is to be a restaurant incubator. If you go to NOLA, you will see a bunch of restaurants with stickers in the window that says “As Featured at St. Roch Market.” St Roch is the model that the food hall here followed. That’s why the options are 3,6, 9, 12 month lease. It’s the way you build a following and work out your menu

Man, I'll drive all the way from Pearl for a good Gyro!

The food hall has been overpriced and underwhelming. Last time I passed by there were only 3 food vendors that had reopened after the shutdown.

Press releases for fast food joints are not a selling point for a community unless you are appealing to folks who are 5’4 and 240, which describes most “ladies” in fast food joints.

Hope it's all you can eat. I'm gonna put my Stretchie britches on and eat til I'm full. Eat your heart out skinnies.

6:39....let me get your attention....this is not New Orleans. Don't base your restaurant opinions on New Orleans if you are talking about Jackson metro. Even the gangs in NOLA appreciate cuisine.

Clinton is not only the only bright spot in Hinds County, it has more attributes that every other city in the metro-Jackson area.

@8:29pm - Except it’s still in Hinds County.

I'm ecstatic! I can do my shopping at Home Depot, Tractor Supply and Kroger, then swing by the new restaurant for some takeout Greek salad, gyros, or whatever else they have on the menu before I head home.

Clinton is a nice little town. Byram is still suffering from growing pains but it is expanding, too. There are few reasons for me to visit Jackson these days which is sad. And since The Fresh Market's produce has gone downhill since March, there are few reasons to visit Ridgeland or the strip malls of Madison.

@7:23

Excuse me I am 5' 4" and 240. I have you know I am NOT overweight, however I am UNDER TALL!

Fuzzies tacos closed after 1 year at that location. This greek spot won't work there either.

why would I eat in a food court when there’s two regular restaurants right across from cultivation?

continental tire started growth in Clinton. both of these fit the middle class dining market just fine.

Tomie Green is still your Senior Circuit Judge.

8:13. clinton resident. fuzzy taco was awful. people didn’t go because there was a mexican restaurant right across the street that was 10x better and a few dollars cheaper...

Fuzzy's got decent reviews, but there are many reasons why restaurants close locations or move. 60% fail in year 1, and 80% fail before year 5. It's a tough business to be in. Clinton has other choices for Mexican food -- bring on a Greek concept.

Cultivation Hall is supposed to be an incubator for new restaurant concepts. The goal is to have restaurants start there and eventually they move out to bigger and better things.

Clinton is an odd town. If you are one of them, the town can be very good to you, but if you are an outsider, you better hope you grow on them or you will definitely be on the outside looking in. I would be reluctant to start a restaurant in this climate in Clinton, however I hope that this new venture is successful.

Hopefully the tax revenue from this place and Continental can get them to fix Arrow Drive. It feels like driving in Jackson on that road.

They're no different than any other small town within the United States.

I've done many business deals in Clinton, and everyone I've dealt with has been beyond nice, welcoming and accommodating.

Clinton, Mississippi is a gem !

@1:02 P.M.

On the same night that the Mayor announced the restaurant, he announced that Arrow Drive would be paved in 2021.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices.
