Chicoms secretly buy up masks and hand sanitizer in foreign countries.
The Chinese Communist Government is holding up the export of medical supplies to America. The Wall Street Journal reported:
New Chinese export restrictions have left American companies’ U.S.-bound face masks, test kits and other medical equipment urgently needed to fight the coronavirus stranded, according to businesses and U.S. diplomatic memos.Sounds familiar:
Large quantities of critical protective gear and other medical goods are sitting in warehouses across China unable to receive necessary official clearances, said some suppliers and brokers.
Health-care equipment maker PerkinElmer Inc., PKI 3.60% based in Massachusetts, is unable to ship 1.4 million test kits for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, from its Suzhou factory because it lacks a certification required by the new rules, according to a State Department memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
A Shanghai vice mayor told Minnesota-based conglomerate 3M Co. that the city “relies on 3M’s locally produced N-95 respirators for its Covid-19 prevention efforts and lacks viable alternatives,” a second memo said. The official “signaled that lifting restrictions on distribution of the company’s masks would require instructions from Beijing,” the memo said....
The policies were instituted this month, and Chinese officials have said they are intended to ensure the quality of exported medical products and to make sure needed goods aren’t being shipped out of China. Instead, they have created bottlenecks at a time of urgent need, according to the suppliers, brokers and the State Department memos....
Asked about the complaints of export problems, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told reporters in Beijing on Wednesday that China wants to ensure the quality of exported medical products given their importance. “Countries across the world are all hunting for medical supplies, causing a big challenge for China’s efforts of quality control and regulation of export,” the Chinese Embassy in Washington said.
China is an almost irreplaceable supplier, making more than 40% of the world’s imports of masks, gloves, goggles, visors and medical garments, according to the Peterson Institute for International Economics....
Chinese customs prohibited the export of medical products without certifications from China’s National Medical Products Administration, even if the goods had been registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. On Friday China added another hurdle, subjecting certain types of surgical protective gear and equipment—including ventilators and masks—to extra checks before they could be shipped overseas....
Virginia-based health-care logistics firm Owens & Minor Inc. has a shipment of 2.4 million masks that meet Food and Drug Administration specifications stuck in a warehouse in Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport because the products lack the newly required certification, according to one of the State Department memos. It said hospital operator Emory Healthcare can’t get 100,000 N95 face masks and 40,000 isolation gowns out of China for the same reason..... Rest of article.
Some reader said we are doing the same thing. Not so fast my friend. The Chinese have been trying to corner the market on these supplies while the world suffers.
A Chinese government-backed property giant has secretly raided in bulk Australia's supplies of masks, hand sanitiser, antibacterial wipes and essential medical supplies and shipped them back to China.Mission accomplished.
The Greenland Group, which manages high-end real estate projects in Sydney and Melbourne, proactively drained Australian supplies of anti-coronavirus equipment, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Three million surgical masks, 500,000 pairs of gloves and bulk supplies of sanitiser and wipes were bought up in Australia and other countries where Greenland operates. ...
While the bulk purchases and shipping were perfectly legitimate, the goods shipped in bulk to China include the very items that have been in short supply for Australian citizens as well as health professionals.
They were accumulated at Greenland's Sydney headquarters and sent to China over weeks in January and February.
As coronavirus locked down Wuhan, the global Fortune 500 company put its normal work on hold and instructed staff in Australia, Canada, Turkey and elsewhere to source supplies.
Pallet loads of items including thermometers and 700,000 hazmat suits were sent to China, the Herald reported.
Greenland deployed its HR staff members, contract managers and others away from their desks to go out and amass as many of the items as possible. ... Rest of article.

Make no mistake. None of this is by chance.
Irreplaceable supplier? For now. Thank goodness that's going to change after all this is over with.
Wow. It’s almost as if relying on a communist country that hates America to make all our medical supplies was a bad idea. Gee wiz. I’m shocked.
This makes me want to throw up. Free trade has led to the communists’ control of essential, life preserving equipment and materials. May the Lord keep watch over us all.
If only we had some American manufacturers producing this equipment in America. At some point, American consumers need to realize that the increased cost for products manufactured at home is worth it in the long run. And perhaps American companies need to make do with slightly reduced profit margins as well.i don't expect either to happen, though. We don't learn from our mistakes.
If you engage in economic warfare, social warfare, or even real warfare, it is the height of folly to DEPEND on your opponent for essential supplies.
Simply DO NOT engage UNTIL you have functional independence, Mr. Trump. Hopefully lesson learned.
In six months no one is going to pay double for any of these supplies and China will probably be making 60% of the inventory.
It is possible for the entire scenario to have been planned.
The release of a deadly, very contagious virus into a community of 12 million during a festival that millions traveled to and then returned home. Denial by the WHO, apparently a puppet that it was hardly infectious while citizens in whuhan were prevented travel within china. The Wuhan community has direct flights to Milan, Italy if you wonder why northern italy has been so devastated. This is from their garment industry associations.
The withholding of needed, planned for, paid for medical supplies shipped to those of us who need them, the threats by chinese officials of withholding needed medicines, allowing us to "drown" in their virus and so many other facts goes in perfect harmony with chinese attempts at hegemony in the pacific.
Anyone who thinks of china as a cute, quaint nation that is no threat should wake up. Time for china (the political china, not the people, if that can be separated) to sod off.
I guess sourcing a communist country to produce everything instead of making 50cents less per unit profit isn’t worth it?? Who would have thought that manufacturing was actually important?
I realized a long time ago when so much of our manufacturing moved to China that the US was making a huge mistake. Made in the USA needs to make a huge comeback. I will not buy anything made in China if I can help it. China is not our friend, China is our enemy.
I’m ready to pay $10 for a bottle of Lysol.
perhaps it was an unintentional release in Wuhan, but it’s crystal clear the Chinese are using this to strengthen their economy. this is the new war- not one fought over land but for economic superiority. and it wasn’t just against us- the Chinese know the Asian countries will do what the government says and control the outbreak but darn well know Westerners do what they want.
9:05 I'll let you in on a little secret.... All wars are fought for economic superiority.
I've never understood why this country doesn't have our own manufacturing and storage of materials we obtain from China. We have more than enough shuttered plants and manpower to do this. We need to do what was done during WWII and store up to two years worth of essential property. Bring it all back here and stop all unnecessary trade with China. They need oil, natural gas, timber, whatever from us, fine sell it, but have all the ships leave their ports riding high empty. The problems I see is that after all is said and done, ole Donny is going to say he and Xi Jinping had a great phone call and since they are BFF's, we will go back to status quo.
To hell with them. I hope our country and everyone else see's what they are doing and refuses to do business with them. The problem is our manufacturing equipment is there and will not be sent back by them as they are 3M's partner. They will try and be in direct competition if we move out.
I still say no matter what, no drugs should be made there. Give the Mfgs. some of the closed military bases and let them build on free property and put people to work.
I don't thing all manufacturing will come back to the US, but a lot of it needs to come back. Sure, the price of goods will go up, but it will be worth it in the long run to not be dependent on your biggest enemy for essentials that your country needs.
The Chinese government is not a good neighbor in the global community, and neither is Russia's. Pretending their are, or acting like they are, will not make it so. They are bad actors, pain and simple.
If nothing else, this global event has given then an opportunity to show their true inclinations. They are fundamentally different, and incompatible, with our value system. Of course, I am speaking in broad, general terms here. It's time to accept the facts and act accordingly.
You think people in the US are going to work for the wages paid in China. The consumer is going to be loyal to America be made until he finds it at a lower price.
9:47 IT IS BECAUSE DANNY GLOVER WANTS TO PAY OUR EMPLOYEES TOO MUCH.
Trump sent 18 tons of PPE to China in January. And, he just sent Russia supplies needed here.
Don't believe me? Put it in your search engine and Snope it or Fact or Fiction it or just read the news from oh...everywhere.
The small business loan money was given in millions each to the corporate franchise like Marriot and Ruth Chris' instead of to local franchise owners. That's how it evaporated so fast. They were given preference. Again, check out the FACTS.
Think that loophole an accident? Just wait while corporations buy out indebted small franchise businesses for pennies and replace
local owners with the same in house workers. Why make your money from use of your name and supply contracts when you can have ownership and all the profits and property from the franchise owner? Just look at those how those corporations with all the tax breaks have bought back stock and how flush they are...really well positioned.
If that all weren't enough, large corporations have their own part of the package. They didn't have to apply for small business loans under the " theory" they could and would distribute the money best for the local bank. RIGHT.
One person requested a few hundred thousand for her franchise and it was approved on the same day and earlier than the franchise requested millions for the same business. They got the loan, she didn't and was told the money was awarded was all gone. The banks will do well, the corporations become even more " too big to fail" and the local owners are screwed.
And, you are blaming China? China isn't supposed to look after our interests.
We either have the dumbest President and Congress in the history of mankind or else the conspiracy, if one exists, is that we have executive branches wanting very much to be the new oligarchs!
God save us! We are incapable of saving ourselves!
There's a 15 sec video clip going around. It's staged like the real commercial for hearing aids.
Older Father and middle-aged son in a woodworking shop. Both busy sanding on chairs or whatever.
Son says audibly, "F*ck China."
Father says, "Do what?" As if he didn't hear what was said-but looking up with somewhat of a grin.
Son looks at his old man, "I said, 'F*ck China'"
Father gleefully smiling: "I heard ya the first time. I just wanted to hear it again."
Take back manufacturing of all types of goods. Yes, it will result in more expensive products. But that's what we need. The US does not have to be an "island", but we can and must be less dependent on inexpensive foreign goods/oil/etc. all made by slave labor in these developing and totalitarian countries.
And people with no concept of free-market capitalism can't imagine why its tough as hell on small business owners when the government forces arbitrary minimum wage floors on them...
