This post is sponsored & authored by James Tulp. Republican candidate
for the 3rd Congressional District.
for the 3rd Congressional District.
Today, I was pleased to be the first- and so far only-Republican in the race for the US House of Representatives, MS-03, to sign the Town Hall Pledge.
It's very simple: The citizens are the boss. The citizens pay the salaries of members of Congress and they get to decide who they want to hire and fire.
According to the Town Hall Project, my opponent, Michael Guest, has not held a single Town Hall event his entire time in office.
To not give your constituents the opportunity to face you and ask you tough questions about your job performance is disrespectful to the citizens of our Republic.
I'm a firm believer in what G.K. Chesterton wrote about politicians: "What we should try to do is make politics as local as possible. Keep the politicians near enough to kick them."
My campaign is about the citizens taking control over the traditional power brokers. I pledge to you that when in office I will always make myself available to the citizens of Mississippi District 3 for criticism, correction, and accountability.
I ask that you please vote Tulp on March 10th.

Any politician who's too scared to do a town hall is worthless
Should be mandatory.
Got my vote and if you suck we'll throw you out
James, James, James. You're fishing at ebb tide, brah. Ain't nobody bitin'.
Anyone in the know have some polling on this race? I'm betting Tulp doesn't break 10%. Also, thank you for turning on comments KF.
Pledges are useless, how many times did you pledge a donation and never follow through?
Thank Tulp. Whether comments are turned on or off is up to the sponsor.
Hey, James, I pledge to vote for your opponent .... along with 80+ percent of republican primary voters in D3.
James,
I'm in NE Jackson and you have my vote. I voted Guest last time. He campaigned and fund raised weekly in Eastover and hasn't impressed at all.
I don't know Tulp, but I like what I'm hearing. I'll vote for him. I don't personally know Guest, but I know his type. And we've already got too many empty suits in D.C.
This dude is Shawn O’Hara with pretty hair & literacy.
Guest has voted with Trump 97% of the time, but that makes him a squish in this dork’s view.
We already have a Chris McDaniel, Mr. Tulp.
I don't give a crap about town hall meetings and a candidates platitudes. I care about what a representative does for his constituents. In addition to actively working on conservative legislation in D.C., Michael Guest was very responsive when I asked for help to resolve a federal regulatory issue that, if not handled in a timely manner, would have threatened the jobs of 200+ employees in Mississippi. And to answer the obvious question, no, I haven't made any contributions to his campaign. Michael helped because it was the right thing to do for Mississippians. He has earned my vote!
@1:46 PM There’s a whole lotta folks gonna bite this, brah. Ebb tide is funny, but that’s about all. Brah!
If you actually listen to Michael Guest he is very unimpressive and not a good "representative" of our state
I like how Tulp has shown Guest's voting record. Guest actually voted to condemn President Trump, which is bad. Tulp would never do that, which is good. I think Tulp would be a strong leader.
" I don't give a crap about town hall meetings "
Me either.
It's a yankee term.
An old New England Puritan phrase meaning 'a gathering to bitch'.
The term has been co-opted into a modern day buzz word for a Q&A session in the meeting room of a local motel just of an interstate highway.
Nothing against Tulp.
I'm sure he'd be fine in that position.
But I think Guest shouldn't have any problem winning reelection.
It comes down to money, and Guest has much more of it.
I'm voting for Tulp because Boomers and GenXers have been in power a long time and we have nothing to show except fewer rights and less sovereignty. You people are a disgrace.
I like Guest but I'm voting for Tulp. Tulp is smarter. Guest is pretty good but Tulp will be better.
How can you represent your district without meeting with the people of your district? Haven’t seen or heard from Guest until James Tulp started putting pressure on him to actually do his job. Guess Guest has been too busy lining his pockets with debt collections to hold town hall meetings. We can do better. https://www.themarshallproject.org/2018/02/07/mississippi-moonlighting
Guest is a dud but far better than that ZERO Harper. Seriously, what in the hell did Harper get accomplished in 10 years besides brown nosing the herd RINO leaders like Boehner and Ryan?

Well 3:36,would it be asking too much if you could provide at least one example to support
your conclusion ?
This has gotta be the first time a Mississippi politician ever quoted GK Chesterton. Say no more. Got my vote.
Tulp has my vote. Can someone tell me what Guest has done while in office? I haven’t seen a thing. He comes across to me as a phoney empty suit.
Tulp is actually better than Guest, but he does not have $$$ or the name. I see him to make a splash and in 20 years do something great. Go James!
I see where Tulp(28) is a New Jersey native and only moved to Mississippi in 2015, yet he knows what is the best for Mississippi? I find that super odd. I can guarantee you a Mississippian isn't moving to Jersey for 5 years and trying to tell them what to do.
Both men seem to be good candidates for congress.
Kingish, why not publish my comments that are truthful? Besides a failed film career and a radio host, what has the 28 year old Tulp done?
1) Tulp is from New Jersey and has only been in Mississippi since 2015. 4 Years is a short time for someone to be telling us what we need to do, especially from the eyes of a person who is from New Jersey. You think New Jersey would listen to someone who's been there 4 years from Mississippi?
2) Guest voted once against Trump and that was on a spending bill. That is the true definition of a conservative.
Tulps attacks on Guest are misleading and incorrect, at best.
Failed film career? You're talking out your a**. Tulp was the youngest Key AD working in Atlanta before moving here because he loves Mississippi and wanted to get out of the liberal industry. You've obviously never listened to his show.
Besides, I'd rather someone who chose Mississippi because he loves it. How often do you hear about outsiders actually want to come here. We should encourage that as long as they're not bringing their yankee crap which Tulp obviously isn't
Mississippi needs some fresh outside perspective. Our own inbred homegrown attitudes sure the hell aren’t working.
Well what we do know is District 3 is all about Northern Republicans verses Southern Republicans I think the whole DHS scheme and scandal has shed light on this state Republican party the big PAC Money and Rankin County and Madison county connections have controlled the state long enough Tulp is a good candidate and has proven to have the record straight let's just pray he gets a fair shake cause Guest is not it !
